Diani Backpackers

Cool spot, slightly overrated and definitely not for everyone. For starters, if you want to sleep before 03:00am make sure you aren’t there during a weekend or a party day. There’s a dj and zero insulation to block the noise, so you’ll hear the music in bed just as loud as in a club. Second, regarding the staff, I get the impression management trained them well once, and things have probably gotten a bit lax since then. The level of friendliness and attentiveness from the reception and bar staff is - to be polite - inconsistent. Overall it’s a decent place, it’s not too far from the beach, it’s easy to meet other travellers and locals too. If you’re looking to party with some Europeans on a weekend in Diani Beach in some barebones accommodations, this isn’t a bad option.

It was an interesting stay. Really fun and friendly people at the front desk. Also, I would recommend if you’re traveling alone. You get to meet other people that can birth other activities to do around. Nice place all round.

Very disappointing experience. The male bar staff were extremely rude, aggressive, and unprofessional. Their behavior completely ruined what should have been a relaxed atmosphere and made us uncomfortable. This level of customer service is unacceptable and honestly makes me think twice about ever returning to Diani Backpackers for drinks or food.

I had such a fantastic stay at Diani Backpackers! The staff and owner were absolutely lovely, making the place feel so welcoming from the start. The tab system was really convenient, and the drinks and food were not only lovely but also really affordable. What really stood out is how much the hostel organises for guests, there’s always something planned, both during the day and at night, which makes exploring the area so easy and fun. It honestly feels more like a resort with the constant activities and great atmosphere. This is hands down the best place I’ve ever stayed, I couldn’t recommend it enough!

Great place with lovely bar and front desk staff. Loads of fun. The restaurant is a hit or miss and you’d be better off going out for food. The chefs / kitchen staff were also rude and aggressive on a few occasions. Esther and the other staff were super lovely. Overall would recommend.

Diani Backpackers 🙌🏾 What an incredible getaway. I really enjoyed my stay at the Justin cabin, a very nice and quaint house for private stays. Accompanied with the super friendly staff, you’ll feel right at home. Best part is the never-ending activities and the proximity to the beach, there’s just no getting bored at Backpackers. Definitely coming back again and again! 🏖️

Diani Backpackers is a great choice if you’re looking for a lively, social, and budget-friendly place to stay near the beach. The atmosphere is very welcoming it’s easy to meet fellow travelers, especially around the pool or bar, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the beautiful beach and close to local amenities.

We had an amazing experience at Diani backpackers. Everyone there made our stay a time to remember. A heartfelt thank you to Joan who assisted us with the booking, Ali who welcomed us on the night of our arrival, Phoebe at reception was warm and friendly with amazing recommendations, Halima was a wizard with the cocktails, Mwinyi an open and welcoming Manager who very attentive to our needs and the entire staff from the Kitchen to the grounds and Housekeeping!!! We will back!!! 20/10
