Diani Backpackers

We booked 4 nights at this hostel but after three we had to move even if they didn't rembourse us. This hostel is perfect if you want to party until late. We spent the first night in a private room and even if they told us that during the week the are no parties the music has been really loud until 4 a.m.. it was impossible to sleep. Moreover the restaurant is really expensive in relation to the quality.

Party hostel. On "party nights" they play music to the middle of the night and it's too loud for anyone staying there to sleep. If you're looking for a party hostel you will like it, if not you won't. I think normally they only do this 1-2x per week, but during the Christmas holidays it's every day. Also they advertise free towels but when I arrived they didn't have any and said to wait until the next day. Annoying to not be able to shower after a travel day. Finally its around a 10min walk to the beach. Due to these reasons I actually moved to a different hostel (Galu-amazing!) even though I had already paid. I've never done that before but was SO happy I did

It's a great place to meet people from all over the world and enjoy the beauty of Diani Beach. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a fun and affordable place to stay.

Rosie at shooters! You're the kindest! Also, the guy at the bar's name which I didn't remember to ask - you are very kind. Second time at backpacker's and liked it very much. Went on NYE after the Sawa Party. Preferred the vibe at Backpacker's more! Bathrooms were gross though! Not sure about food, but service has always been excellent.

Affordable and fun. The staff is friendly and a lot of international to hang out with. There is no AC in the rooms, but they have an overhead fan.

Rooms: I booked a private room, I actually expected bigger space than what I got to experience for a short while. Service: Hawa was of great help the few times I interacted with her. Location: Quite far from Diani city centre but there’s a nothing a tuktuk or a bodaboda ride can’t fix. Now, here’s what I disliked about the property; I found bedbugs in my room. I requested for a transfer and since the private rooms were fully booked, I was transferred to a dorm right next to the bar. The hygiene levels of the dorm I was taken to were very wanting to say the least. Aeration in the dorm was also poor I wasn’t comfortable at all after the bedbug incident. Had made peace with being awake all night long at the bar area before checking out in the morning. I don’t remember anything regarding an all night party being communicated to me. I had left some party and just wanted to sleep only to be met with a club situation going on at the hostel. I was very much disoriented. The night staff tried all they could to help me have a comfortable stay but let’s just say I was totally done. I checked out at 3:20am because there was no way I’d spend the night there.

I was racially discriminated against in my own country by one of the staff members. His name is Mohamed Ali, he was working the night shift on Sunday 15th Dec 2024. |In the morning I tried to get a hold of the manager to discuss this issue but they did not let me contact the manager they said "we are not allowed to share the managers number" |I had been looking forward to visiting this property for a long time and I finally did. |I had great time, I made new friends who made my stay there very nice up until the last night. |From reading the reviews it seems that quite a few have experienced some kind of ill treatment by staff and I hope they make some changes.|Thanks to Rama and Mwenyee for trying to make things right by apologising but I was really hurt.

This is an okay place for budget travelers. I love the fact that they have affordable accommodation rates and hostels where people from different countries get to sleep in the same hostel. That's a good idea. There are also private rooms which are affordable and comfortable. Their food is really nice although a bit costly compared to other restaurants. The chefs are friendly and so fast. The staff are available for any support and are professional and welcoming. My concern was the issue of internet, it's too slow and when power goes off, it as well gets disconnected. The management should come up with a solution for this because some residents get inconvenienced when they're doing something that requires internet. I also request that some bit of renovation is done for example the bathroom and the hostel floor. Otherwise I liked the place and would definitely come back soon.
