I had this place saved for two years, ever since my first trip to Malta. Unfortunately, back then we didn’t make a reservation for our last day and it was completely full, so we missed out. This time, we didn’t make the same mistake — we reserved in advance, and I can confidently say this restaurant belongs in the top five, or even top three, restaurants in Malta.
We started with bread and their house olive oil, and we absolutely demolished it. The olive oil was so good that I couldn’t stop pouring more and more on the bread. In the end, we even bought a bottle from their little shop inside the restaurant — and yes, they have a small store where you can buy their products, which is amazing.
The service was excellent, warm, and attentive, and the whole story and concept behind the place make the experience even better. This restaurant focuses on homemade Maltese food, which makes it a must-visit.
For starters, we ordered the goat cheese polpette — fried goat cheese served with quince jam. That quince jam was incredible. We loved it so much that we went to the shop afterward and bought two jars to take home.
For the mains, I ordered spaghetti with rabbit sauce and vegetables. The rabbit was super tender and flavorful, the sauce was delicious, and the spaghetti was perfectly cooked al dente. The only small downside was that the chopped carrot was a bit too raw for my taste — I expected it to be softer — but overall the dish was still excellent.
The other main was beef filled with minced beef, served in a homemade sauce with potatoes. The meat was incredibly juicy and full of flavor. The sauce was so good that I ended up finishing it with bread, and the potatoes tasted truly homemade — simple and delicious.
We finished this amazing meal with apple pie, and as a big apple fan, I have to say it was outstanding. A proper homemade pie and the perfect way to end the experience.
One final tip: after your meal, visit the shop and buy some of the products you tasted. It’s honestly one of the best souvenirs you can take home from Malta — you won’t regret it.
