Dickwella Beach Hotel

Love this place! Booked a family suite with a sea view at the last minute after bad weather meant we had to abandon our trip to Yala. So glad we did, as the location is perfect. The beach in front of the hotel is great for relaxing, with many sunbeds and a relatively flat beach, unlike adjacent Hiriketiya, which is a smaller, narrower beach with a steep slope and focussed on surfing. |The hotel itself is lovely although basic in places. Whilst the bed was comfortable and the shower good, there is no room safe and the large bedroom mirror and glass doors to the patio would have benefited from a good clean. The lock for the patio doors had also seized up, but as we were on the first floor, that wasn’t an issue. |Staff were lovely and drinks at the bar were reasonably priced. |The price for our massive room was also great value and included breakfast, and with such a great location, we would definitely return. |NOTE:|The hotel doe snot have a pool as the main cover photo for this hotel is actually of the Dickwella Resort and Spa Hotel, which is a completely different place! (I have notified TripAdvsor or this error)

Had a fantastic stay at Dickwella Beach Hotel! The rooms well-maintained, and the entire place was exceptionally clean. The staff was super friendly and supportive, making the experience even better. The food was delicious, though portions were a bit small. Parking was slightly tight, but it wasn’t a major issue. Overall, a great place to relax with excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!

(Don´t get confused with Dickwella RESORT, that is a completely different kind of place)|||Dickwella Hotel is a really nice, small family run hotel - perfect located on the Beach. |The girls in the Front Desk were super friendly and we enjoyed the hospitality here. |Breakfast was served at the table overlooking the sea if we wanted, and it was really good and delicate presented. We alsa had dinner here 1 night and that was also really tasty and good. ||The hotel have very different room cateogries: some simple yet nicely decorated rooms in the back, and some newer sea view rooms in a separate building. Check before booking . ||We loved our stay in the quiet season in November 2024 Loved it 💙 ❤️ We will be back!||And PS: Dickwella Beach is the perfect beach to get away from the crowds other places down south. Very relaxing, and we loved swimming and bodysurfing here with the kids.

A wonderful resort situated literally right on the Indian Ocean. Beautifully appointed bungalows with their own verandas, huge pool, 3 restaurants, everything you imagine a waterfront resort to offer. |Our room was on the ground floor and opened out directly across the road from the swimming beach. Generous sized room, lovely well-laid out bathroom and beautiful 4 poster bed which had a quality mattress on it and lovely soft pillows. Nothing wanting in the room!|Restaurant disappointed us - we had a 1/2 board deal and had the buffet at night. The resort attracts many families and it was clear that the restaurant staff were overwhelmed with administering the food flow/replenishment. The food was quite boring, same old, and there was not a huge selection. Unlike our experiences in other 5 star hotels

Exceptional Experience – Highly Recommended! This hotel exceeded all expectations and stands out as one of the best places to stay by Sri Lankan standards. The staff goes above and beyond to take care of every need, making sure that your stay is comfortable and worry-free. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made us feel truly welcome. The food was absolutely outstanding—each meal was a delight, offering both local flavors and international options, all prepared to perfection. One of the highlights was the close proximity to Rumors Bar, which is located right on the beach. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a drink while watching the sunset. Plus, the complimentary sun loungers were a great bonus, and the beachside service was just as friendly and attentive as the hotel staff. Overall, a fantastic experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Sri Lanka. Can’t wait to come back!

Amazing experience. Nice sea view and enjoyable place. On the arrival they give friendly service. Pool area also really nice. We can see sun set and and rise in this place. I need to agian to again. And there can see turtles in the beach. Highly recommend!!!

Its tricky that Hotel doesn't have any pool but in the google. But when I checked in with the disappointment it literally took me 2 seconds to change my mood when I saw the beautiful garden with the beautiful beach.it was so beautiful and has an amazing view. Staff was very friendly & helpful. All of my family members really enjoyed & we had a good time here.you will get a chance to experience beautiful sunset. Beautiful & calm beach.

Unsafe, (for a british asian female solo traveller) senior management minimised seriousness of the night time security guard who happens to be family, whom discreetly followed me into my room on my very first evening at the hotel. He had been watching me earlier and when he saw that I had enetered my room and had left the door slightly ajar as I was putting by bag down on the dressing table, I shouted what the F are you doing in my room very loudly and he ran away. Management said there was no intruder, so I demanded to see the night security guard in order to identify him and I confirmed with Management it was him. Management did nothing to investigate the matter, nor did they call the police, nor did they remove him from work due to my allegation. I was afraid to return to my room after being out for the evenings. I did not know if the security guard was watching me again to try and take advantage. My room was like a prison and I was unable to enjoy the terrace as I did not feel safe. The hotel CCTV was not covering the incident of the intruder in my room. I later recognised the intruder on the hotel grounds and as soon as he saw me he ran away from again. Management were present at the time and did nothing. I demanded to check out immediately and they refused and said they had finished work for the day. I ended up asleep on the beach as I did not feel comfortable to be in the hotel. I then went to the police myself for the 1st time, then 5 corrupt police officers came to enquire what happened, they discouraged me to pursue the complaint or make a report as it would mean I would have to go to court and they were concerend that I may not be able to attend and asked for my return flight date, I attended the police station for the 2nd time to complete their paper work, but I did not have my passport with me. I attended the police station the 3rd time and the 5 corrupt police officers went missing, and no other police officer was available nor did they know of my form that was partially completed.
