DID - Dine in the Dark: Siem Reap

First time ever dining in the dark, I was a bit nervous but it was completely worth it. You can first sit in a lounge area (with lights) for a drink where the waitresses are so nice and welcoming. Then, you put your belongings in a locker and put on a apron, meet your guide who will take care of you during dinner (more than guides, they make most of the experience thanks to their kindness, humour and expertise) and it's time to go to the full dark restaurant room... The surprise menu of 5 dishes is simply divine (and the price is only $18 for a real gastronomy experience). I won't tell you more about it because it would ruin the surprise but all you need to know is that it's excellent and I am a picky eater! We had such a great moment laughing together as well with Sopaling, our fantastic guide, that we completely lost track of time and were the last in the restaurant. Overall, you simply have to go, it's a unique experience where you can both taste fantastic local food and get to know Cambodian for an evening. We will definitely come back :)

A n unforgettable experience. The food was fantastic, full of flavor and it was fun trying to guess what each dish was. It’s a bowl, it’s hot. Soup? Yes... etc. I was a bit nervous when I walked in but Srey Hum was a great waitress who is happy to serve you (she makes it seem so easy in the dark). You will get the hang of it after a few minutes. A very very memorable experience focusing is smell, sound, and touch, so much touch and feel. Eat here. Bill $64 for two 5 course and a bottle of red wine.

Importantly, the food was delicious and the staff were very professional and friendly. The heightened sensory experience of dining in the complete absence of light was... Unforgettable. It was fun trying to guess what it was that we ate after dinner, and it being revealed to us with photos. A really worthwhile experience I highly recommend it. My 10 year old son was a bit put off by not being able to see what he was eating, but he still liked it a lot.

Unforgettable experience!!!! We have had a remarkable dinner experience. Food, service, staff, all details were amazing!! We loved this experience. It were the most delicious dishes tasted in Cambodia! And in the end, we received an card with our names in Braille, amazing!! Definitely a must go restaurant when visiting Siem Reap.

It was an amazing experience. Dinner was delicious, every meal was surprising in its taste and super delicious. The guide was very proffessional and funny, she made this experience even more unique. It was very touching, not scary at all. Definetly the thing to do in your life. We want to eat now in dark once a week.

Amazing dining experience and delicious food. I booked in advance and while it says cash only only google they do accept card payment. The memory of a few hours experience of dining will stay with me for a long time. I’m not sure how the numbering system works in this street but google has the location right. It’s just not number 7, Makara St, as the whole street is called 7 Makara Street so we had to keep a look out for it.

I don’t want to say too much about this experience because it’ll spoil yours, but it’s a truly once-in-a-lifetime thing. Food is great and service is impeccable, everything else is unfortunately invisible. That’s as much as I’ll go, try it yourself!
