One of the favourite museums! Always a new exhibition, great place to get familiar with both Finnish and international artists. The villa itself is so cozy and stylish! It's also a pleasure to spend time in the yard surrounding the house. You can get here by car (free parking) or bike. Sometimes there could be a queue to enter but it usually doesn't take longer than 10 minutes

30 mins out of Helsinki central. I took an e scooter is a very pretty route along the water to get there. A stunning collection and house. I almost prefer it over the Peggy Guggenheim museum Venice. The only let down is basic “cafe” if you can call it that a table and a small coffee machine. Bring your own drinks or a picnic. There are lots of eateries on the way but disappointing not to be able to sit and enjoy the ambience.

1958 Villa Didrichsen, architect Viljo Revell, student of Alvar Aalto. Villa feels intimate and warm, like a family house. Connection with the site is immediate and views of the water are spectacular. Gallery addition is elegant with a contrasting institutional feel. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly

Prepare to wait 15-20min during weekend for the Särestöniemi exhibition. We really enjoyed the exhibition, especially the English talk about the artist. It was not too busy.

I was surprised to see a Henry Moore work outside next to the pool, not being aware that there’s tons of his work inside the collection which was amazing. I loved seeing a few pieces of Kandinsky, Picasso and Dali’s work as well. There was a tiny collection of Persian artifacts from 800 BC to 2000 BC but they had exhibited it in a tiny hallway next to the bathroom and no one was looking at it. Such a shame, it definitely needs the attention it deserves. The book collection was fascinating, of course we couldn’t touch them but seeing a book with Nazi sign was horrendous and I don’t think it’s necessary to have it on display. That made the experience for me a little bit bitter.
