"Die Bank Brasserie Housed in a 19th-century bank building, this elegant restaurant and bar—resplendent with crystal chandeliers, large black columns, and crisp white tablecloths—is beloved for its regional dishes, from deer goulash with poppy seed spätzle to wiener schnitzel with fried potatoes. Also on offer are more familiar options, including oysters, steak frites , and Parmesan risotto, all made with locally sourced ingredients. While Die Bank draws business diners with its lunchtime specials, it attracts a more diverse, bohemian crowd come dinner. The classy bar serves top-notch cocktails and wine, but the spacious terrace is the place to drink in warmer weather."

The food was very good and tasy, the service was surprisingly excellent! I think the best service that you can get in Germany. The apricot Creme Brule is amazing, must try.

Correct food, great presentation, and the environment is nice. However we had a very bad service from our waiter. Globally, it's expensive for the experience. You can definitely find better restaurants in the area.

Inside this fine building which actually used to be a bank, some magnificent stairs take you directly to the restaurant. The luxurious decoration of "die Bank" is elegant and informal at the same time, with sumptuous chandeliers and some motives resembling credit cards. The service was outstanding: we arrived really late at night, however they prepared something for us even though the kitchen had closed long ago. The tartar was the best I've ever had.

Yelp
I travel alone a lot and read about Die Bank here on Yelp, and found it on a few other websites mentioned as one of the best restaurants in Hamburg. I took a cab from my hotel over to the area, which is very nice and filled with high end shops (Prada is right next door). Head inside and up a staircase and into the high ceiling former bank, with a contemporary and simple "money" themed design. I sat at the bar for dinner. I had a really nice bartender that spoke great English. He brought me an English menu and I had a glass of Veuve to start with (the only serve Veuve and Veuve rose by the glass sparkling wise, which is fine by me). He also let me sample Die Bank's house wine, which is made for the restaurant in the Alsace region, it was a Pinot Gris and very crisp. I also had a beer, since I was preparing to head out to a bar afterwards and knew I'd be having a few (I don't like to mix!). They do make cocktails too, and they were all beautiful colors in cool glasses. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. They also have a prix fixe if you're looking for something more extensive. My meal alone was perfect enough, and too much for me. I had steak frites with delicious green beans (a type I had never had before), and Béarnaise. It was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and was absolutely delicious. I hate that I could not finish it all. A few regulars came in and everyone was very nice. Overall, it was a really lovely dinner, and if I am back in Hamburg I will surely come back. Also, as a woman dining solo out in Germany, it means a lot when I am treated respectfully and treated great, and I was. +1!

Yelp
Wonderfully restored former bank building is now a business man's lunch spot. Serves the typical steak + fries for an expected premium price. Everything is pleasant with nothing really out of place, but nothing really spectacular either. I'll probably have lunch here many times.

Yelp
Food was okay. Atmosphere good. The waiter seemed to speak good English and understand gluten allergy and said they had GF bread, but the "bread guy" did not. He delivered bread to the table and we asked if GF, and it wasn't. I was two slices into it when our waiter said my bread was almost done baking. Just be careful with translation.

Yelp
I celebrated my best friend's 30th Birthday here last Saturday and we enjoyed our entire experience, because Die Bank feels cosy, yet open, and social all at once. I used to frequently pop in here for lunch after shopping at Ralph Lauren around the corner to unwind, have a tasty cocktail, eat a light salad, and chat with the friendly bartenders who always are attentive, smiling, and suggest specialities or are willing to experiment and mix you a surprise! Business lunches are often done during the day and families, couples or business group dinners are the crowd in the evenings. Whichever day of the week, this place is never empty, so reservations are highly suggested. The quality of the food in combination with the atmosphere and presentation of the dishes, easily justifies why this local spot is so popular and prices reflect such trendy elegance as well. The fish dishes are superb and the meat juicy and delicious. The chef sends out a nice tasting sampler along with bread to begin, then the other courses follow shortly, as they prepare everything with great speed and efficiency. I like how Die Bank is posh in design, but cosy in layout, and service by its team aims to please in a non arrogant manner that some fine dining establishments feel the need to serve up. I used to work in banking so along with everyone else I know in finance, it is just entertaining to eat in this reconditioned vault like dining layout. During warm months they open the terrace and when you arrive for happy hour, one can lounge to the channel of football playing on the tv screens near the bar. I enjoyed the Tuna Tartare and my friend had the Seeteufel which was very nice! I brought two friends here for their Birthdays and they always make a great dessert presentation along with a birthday themed song playing over the restaurant sound system. As far as convenience of location to Jungfernstieg and the Alster, alongside shopping, I enjoy coming here whenever I am in the neighborhood! Try this place for happy hour, they have such tasty fruity cocktails and a good wine selection, especially if you like reds all year long as I do :) Vor einigen Tagen haben wir in der Bank den 30.

Yelp
Love this place, beautiful, elegant, great location. Great menu and wine selection, steak is probably the best in the menu. Bar is great (5-star drinking venue) interesting cocktail selection, different food menu, but good for appetizers.

Yelp
Way to expensive to stay all night, although definitely worth going there to enjoy one of the tropical cocktail and admire the upscale, wealthy interior. The splendor of this old building, a national bank once, provides a dauntingly impression.

Yelp
I really like this bar it reminds me of the watering holes around martin place in Sydney especially the Ist. Bar on George street. The decor is minimal and runs with the building Bank theme, the bathrooms are pretty awesome as well with changeable CD players that kept Sophie amused :-) The restaurants looks extremely promising the lighting emulates candlelight and it's white linen sliver waiter service all the way. With most drinks besides coffee starting at 12euros it's pretty expensive and definitely not the type of place we're ever liking to spend a whole night at unless someone else foots the bill.

Yelp
Die Bank is actually a very nice bar and restaurant from a decor perspective and the food wasn't bad, but this was completely overshadowed by the terrible attitude of the service staff. Initially we were seated ok, and as we were waiting for friends we just ordered drinks, but after they arrived we were basically asked to hurry up and order food as the table was reserved by another group. This was at 5.30om and the table was supposedly reserved for 7pm. At 6.45 we were ejected from our table, and when we finally left at 8pm it was still unoccupied. To cap it off, when we paid the bill, the surly waitress had the audacity to come back and actually ask for a tip. Never seen this before, and won't be coming back.

Yelp
Great decor, lighting, and style. it looks and is fairly expensive to drink and eat here, but the food and service rock. If you want to splash out, this should please you a lot. I had stopped in for a cocktail before, but this was the first time I ate here. The waiter we had was a true professional, friendly, multi-lingual, experienced, very helpful and all this despite very busy. Definitely he deserved his tip. Sweet fresh sashimi, lovely oysters, great wine (with a big and daunting wine list), a decent range on the whole menu. Certainly the clientele is posh Hamburg and some tourists, but if you want to be looked after and are OK to pay 50-60EUR a head including some less expensive wine, give it a go. Recommended.

Yelp
What a nice place to enjoy a great lunch or dinner! The service was impeccable as was the food and wine selection. Cocktails are made using only the best ingredients, fresh and tasty. I would recommend as a place for that special occasion, but would certainly enjoy the experience any time I could. Reservations are highly recommended.

Yelp
Worst place to eat in Hamburg. Horrible service. We ordered our food, took 50 min and never came, we asked if it would take much longer, but For our surprise they never even sent our order to the kitchen. They simply forgot that we ordered food, or maybe didn't even bother.

Yelp
I haven't eaten there yet but I have had many an enjoyable drinking session there. A little on the expensive side but you get what you pay for. Friendly staff and good with groups.

Yelp
We enjoyed our evening here. This is an upscale Brasserie, casual chic, a bit on the pricier side. The service was discreet but attentive, the food was delicious, cocktails and wine were good, and the decor is quite grandiose.

Yelp
perfect place for professional cocktail!

Yelp
Good service in a very nice location. However, i found the price was sightly over the food quality.
