17 Best Bars in Berlin

"Past the dramatic curtains and under the vintage sign, candles abound in this tiny, eclectic bar located in a cool section of Kreuzberg. Everything is clustered together, even the tables (seating can be a bit of a gamble). The interior is raw and industrial, like many so-called “living room bars” in this section of Berlin, but it’s quirked up by vases and pots of flowers that hang from the ceiling like a rain shower of blossoms. Drinks are wonderful—especially the perfectly-mixed Old Fashioneds and Basil Smashes—and if you're at all undecided, the bar staff is happy to help you customize your own drink." - Krystin Arneson

Perfectly adequate hostel. Stayed here twice for concerts. The clientele are quiet which is why we chose it a second time, though some of the doors slam. Not much going on in terms of social activities so wouldn't recommend for solo travellers. But we were booking as a group to go to a concert and had a room to ourselves which was perfect for us. Will probably stay again.

It was a very straight forward process of checking in and figuring out the shared rooms situation. Me and my friend stayed for three days, two nights, for a concert at the nearby arena. The hostels location was perfect, even for late night food to which we just went right next door. Of course, there were some things we would've liked to be informed of beforehand. Such as that you need to either, bring your own lock to keep your belongings save or buy one down at the front desk. There was a slight situation on the second night, because apparently the cleaners had removed both bedding of a person that had checked out and one of my friends' which led to a new person, who had checked in while we were away, to claim the bed my friend had slept in the night before. There was a slight confusion, but nothing major. It was just mildly annyoing to have to put on new bedsheets after a long, strainous day. Also, I would like to preface, that the rooms are definitely not sound proof, so I'd recommend bringing earplugs or something along those lines to block out the noise people make when they move down halls and open doors. Overall, I would stay here again if I ever get the chance. The price was cheap for two people, and sharing a room with others wasn't that big of a deal despite the different plans everyone had. Although, the bathroom situation was...interesting. I wouldn't shower there, since there's two shower stalls, but both have see through doors and I'm not a proud nudist.

Room had bed bugs when we arrived and when asked for compensation (which was not given to us in full), staff tried to blame us for the bed bugs instead of helping. No locks on shower and doors were transparent too, providing an overall uncomfortable and distressing experience.

Perfect location, in the middle of everything. 24 store next door. VERY COMFY beds and quiet hostel. Margarita was absolutely amazing and for that reason, we will definitely be back!

A nice and cozy hotel with friendly desk staff. Everything is easy to reach from here. And excellent bars are around the corner. The room was big enough and comfortable for my few days stay.

My fav. hostel in Berlin so far! Only small thing is bathroom that has a limited ventilation and in these numbers could bigger. Other than that, love the overall experience, location and cleanliness!

Die Fabrik was such a great place to stay! It was very cozy and quiet and the staff was very kind and helpful. I cut my finger while I was there and the man at the front desk was so nice and called a cab for me to go to the ER. I don’t remember his name but shoutout to him.

Yelp
The hotel/hostel is more hostel than hotel. Private rooms (at least in my case) share bathrooms. Not a big deal, as there seemed to be enough bathrooms, and they were cleaned daily and seemed to stay pretty clean throughout the full week of my stay. Pros: courtyard, lobby seating, quiet hours enforced, friendly staff (exception: Sunday-AM girl was working harder than anyone I've ever seen to ignore a queue of guests, requiring us to verbally interrupt her to get her attention even for a moment - everyone else was superbly kind and helpful!). Cons: as in much of Germany, the wifi infrastructure for the bandwidth demands are outstripped by the needs of the customers - consequence: internet was spotty except for in the lobby, and sometimes it crashed altogether (it seemed frequently to emit dead signals to the room areas of the hostel/hotel). The cost (at €43/nt) was competitive with all comparables but is not an amazing deal for the overall picture. It depends: The beds are firm, which I prefer. If you like a soft bed, this is not a comfy situation for you. And no AC, but plenty of air flow, so it didn't matter for me in mid June.

Yelp
I stayed here for three nights in an 8 person dorm. I had money stolen out of my locker because someone else in the same room had a key that opened both his lock and mine. This was very much the responsibility of the hostel and they claimed they would refund the money to me since they were at fault, they just had to hear back from insurance. I've sent them about 7 emails since leaving and I've received nothing. Also had friends staying in a four person room and when they asked for the key, they were never asked for name or identification. Don't stay here. There is absolutely no security.

Yelp
For a long while, it was the place I brought student groups but I've moved on, mainly because it never did. A charming concept, a hotel called the factory, and build in an old structure in the interesting Kreuzberg section of Berlin, it was spartan to say the least. Bathroom down the hall. One smoky lounge. A less than effecient mode of serving breakfast to groups. I moved on with some regrets but life is that way.
