Die Swaene Hotel

We spent a very comfortable 5 nights at Die Swaene. The staff were fabulous and even had a little birthday celebration for our dog one morning at breakfast. Lionel, the chef, made us wonderful eggs with tasty herbs each morning at breakfast. We stayed in the junior suite which overlooked the canal. Our bed was large and comfortable. Strong shower, with two sinks and the toilet is separate. Very well located in terms of city centre and we were able to park our car in their car park on the other side of the canal (reasonable extra daily rate). We really appreciated the pool in the afternoons. The only thing that lets the hotel down a bit is the "faded elegance" is a little too faded. Some refurbishment would do wonders. The doors kept squeaking and the main door into the room needs sanding so we didn't have to slam it shut each time when exiting, possibly disturbing other guests, especially if the dog needed out in the middle of the night. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a romantic city centre break that has elegance, convenience and great staff.

This hotel is in a lovely 18th century Guild building with plush in-keeping decor and furnishings and large 18th c lounge. We had a large and comfortable ground floor room with good shower etc. Comfortable large bed. Room included safe, mini bar, kettle. ||All staff were lovely and helpful. We borrowed chess from reception. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality with tasty omelettes. There is a small pool which we used daily. Private parking was the other bonus for us, though not cheap. It is walkable to everywhere and right by canal but so quiet.||Our room was pink which was fun but the pale pink carpet was very impractical and had got very dirty. They'd put rugs on it but these were trip hazards and it really needed a good shampoo or replacement. The room was at street level and very handy for the pool but you wouldn't have wanted to open the windows in summer as people were walking past. The lighting in lounge and room was barely bright enough to read by.

I spent three wonderful nights at this hotel in the run-up to Christmas. It was probably one of the best travel experiences I've ever had! I want to say a huge thank you to all the hotel staff for the warm and welcoming welcome. They made me feel at home and I enjoyed every minute of my stay! I was so sad to leave. The incredibly delicious breakfasts, the luxurious restaurant, and even the tableware were simply amazing! I'd be happy to return again someday. Thank you very much!

Great location and staff. The hotel is a bit worn out and tatty. We stayed in room 32 and the heating didn't work but was fairly quiet. Breakfast was a bit limited but adequate, best to avoid and walk 2 minutes down the street. The swimming pool was 25c and the sauna wasn't that hot, around 55c. Location was great though and may stay again.

We booked this hotel as its dog friendly and conveniently placed. Its a little quirky in its decor but thats part of its charm, its certainly not a modern hotel with a clinical finish. I really liked it. It has a pool, although we didnt use it but I did have a look and it seemed fine. Breakfast is mainly croissants, toast, cereal and fruit, although they do offer eggs and bacon. My other half tried the eggs and found them too greasy but that was our only real criticism. Staff were really helpful via email prior to our stay and very pleasant and helpful during our stay. The location is excellent, just a few mins walk to the main square. Would definitely stay here again.

An absolutely beautiful hotel very near to the heart of Bruges. Wonderful room, with truly lovely areas such as a guest lounge, the breakfast room and a small swimming pool and sauna. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the area. One hostess, Marijke, showed us places on a map and offered wonderful insight on local attractions and eateries. I would, and have, recommend this lovely hotel.

Fantastic barock style place, the staff is the very best you can wish for. Pool and sauna great, atmosphere is great. Only the breakfast could have a bit more variety and especially more cheese. The location is perfect! At night super quiet you don't hear a sound.

Wonderful hotel with top notch hotel staff! We thoroughly enjoy the breakfast, pool/sauna, and beautiful common area for drink would glad go back anytime!
