Okay, so getting into the Napoli-Empoli game on April 14 was a bit of a chaotic start! Being tourists and first-timers at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, we ended up in the wrong queue – we didn't realize just how truly massive this stadium is, and our actual entrance was a good five-minute walk on the opposite side. And as tourists, we had to remember our passports, which they definitely check at the door. We were actually quite surprised at how slowly they were letting people in; there were still tons of fans stuck outside waiting while the game was already underway, which was a bit frustrating. We ended up missing the first chunk of the match, listening to the distant roar of the 50,898 fans from outside – talk about frustrating, but it definitely built the anticipation! Finally stepping inside that legendary stadium, though, wow. The energy from the Napoli supporters was absolutely electric. And seeing them win that solid 3-0 in person? Totally worth the queue mishaps. The atmosphere was something you just can't get from watching on TV.

Fantastic stadium for a game. High energy. Get there 2 hours early as the lines to get in are mayhem. Jumping the line in a national sport in Italy. Also seat allocations are often taken by opportunistic fans and Stewart’s don’t do much to help . All in all a great experience with passionate fans

Amazing atmosphere! Make sure you get there with plenty of time to spare and grab a beer from one of the bars outside. And head in with plenty of time as well because the queues can be very slow moving! Oh and be prepared for a €15/20 cab fare per person on the way home to wherever the ‘taxi’ decides to drop you….

Ambiance was amazing. Great seats from where ever you sit. I can’t wait to go back! Vamos Napoli!

The atmosphere is insane, the fans are extremely dedicated and it saddens me they have a rundown and old stadium. This stadium was built in 1959 and there was renovations made to it for the 1990 world cup but sadly it's just not a stadium worthy in the 21st century. The Italian champions Napoli need to demolish and rebuild this stadium. Especially since the stadium changed its name to Diego Maradona stadium to honor him.

I have visited the stadium in Naples several times, this time it was on the day of the Naples vs Atalanta match on 3.11.2024. The stadium is one of the older ones, you can see it. It is quite rusty. It's good to have time to spare, there are big queues to get in. Accessibility to the stadium from the centre is perfectly fine by train/metro. It's worse after the game, which is understandable. You'll probably have to wait a while. There are plenty of stands outside the stadium (booths for souvenirs, food, drinks).

The Maradona Stadium, known as Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, is located in Naples and is one of the most important sports venues in the city. Although the surroundings of the stadium are not fully developed and often lack aesthetic appeal, the stadium itself holds deep emotional value for fans and the people of Naples. Opened in 1959, the stadium has hosted many unforgettable moments, especially during Maradona's time at Napoli, when the team became one of the most successful in Italy. The stadium can accommodate over 54,000 spectators, and the atmosphere during matches is unmissable, with passionate fans creating a unique ambiance. While it may not shine as brightly as some more modern stadiums, its significance to the local community and the football culture in Naples is invaluable. The Maradona Stadium remains a symbol of pride and passion for the city, and numerous visitors come to experience the football spirit that permeates it.
