Very nice museum that offers a glimpse into the life of Diego Rivera. There are also numerous photos and paintings of Frieda as well. There are at least 3 floors to see. Definitely worth a visit if you are interested in the life of Diego and Frieda. We enjoyed the Frieda Kahlo and Diego Rivera house in Coyoacan, this was a great additional stop.

Thanks for the Rumores de la noche. I saw the side of “the other women”, especially in a society with male chauvinism. I saw how women are ignored in those times, how their feelings, their body are disrespected. The same for Frida. At the very beginning I don’t quite get why they also show Cristina Kohal, since she should be the other women, in a very complicated situation. But after all, she and her sister Frida are at the same page. They are all disrespected, and ignored by that society and times. I know how people remind Frida but that’s when her and Diego passed away. So, yea that’s a time women are never think highly of, and standing in a stage of darkness. With sufferings, they didn’t even realize it.

Its a nice museum housing some of Diego Rivera's artwork. Its free entrance too. The guards in the room told you many times that you cannot snap pictures here. Theres also some exhibition about Frida Kahlo too, parts of the story between their lifes, photos, letters.. its interesting to see.

Decent museum in DR childhood home that has been restored nicely. Some his & other artists work & sketches worthy of a visit. Only 30 pesos but can't take photos of the artwork was very disappointing.

Of all the museums that are located here in Guanajuato, this, to me, was the best one. Also, one of the best art museums I have been to in general. It boasts some of the greatest works of Diego Rivera on display, as well as exhibitions on other artists which I found very interesting too. There is quite a bit to see here, and just when you think you have seen it all, there is more rooms and sections to look at. I was thoroughly surprised with how the museum seemed to go on and continue with new things to observe. Additionally, even though the souvenir store was quite small, I liked it more than other souvenir shops I had been to in neighboring museums.

This museum is a beautiful and culturally rich space at a very affordable price ($30 MXN, approximately $1.50 USD). It showcases a diverse collection of paintings, including some of Diego Rivera’s greatest works, as well as temporary exhibitions featuring other artists. Of all the museums in Guanajuato, this one stood out the most for me—it is truly one of the best art museums I’ve visited. There is a lot to see, and just when you think you’ve seen it all, more rooms and sections unfold, making the experience even more enjoyable. The museum is well-maintained, and the exhibitions are thoughtfully arranged. I also appreciated the historical information provided throughout, as well as the QR codes, which allow visitors to access additional details or even music playlists to enhance the experience. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, always ready to explain any piece and answer questions with enthusiasm. While the souvenir shop is small, I personally wished it offered higher-quality items, as I was hoping to find something special to take home. At the moment they have a temporary Escher exhibition, which was a great bonus. Additionally, one of the highlights in the bonus exhibitions was Amarantocaballero Prado’s “Mil Pájaros Mil”, a stunning display that added another layer of artistic depth to the experience. While the museum contains a limited selection of Rivera’s works, they are still impressive, and you learn a lot about his artistic journey. Of course, to see his famous murals, you’ll need to visit Mexico City, but this museum remains a must-visit for art lovers. Highly recommended if you’re in Guanajuato!

The house museum of Diego Rivera in Guanajuato. Some of his artworks upstairs, but taking pictures is not allowed. I found his watercolour illustrations of Popol Vuh most interesting, although there were no info about them in English.

Lovely biographical museum. Lots of stairs. Photography is limited to photos of Diego and Frida.
