Love this place! This is sort of a two in one store where on one side they have retro and some retro inspired modern apparel and accessories along with vinyl LPs, vhs tapes and comics. On the other side they sell locally handcrafted goodies, art , and tees. There slogan is " Apparel, Art, and More New, Retro, Cool, Weird which I think is perfect as they seem to cater to a sort of horror, sci-fi, nerd, and pop culture theme customer base. There is some really awesome unique artwork and indie crafts in this place. The owners are artists themselves and the woman specializes in Dia de Los Muertos style while the guy paints pop art paintings of movie characters ( like Gizmo from Gremlins) and cool side show theme paintings.
I love shopping through the retro clothes as they seem to take the time to pick out fun pieces for the store in all sorts of styles and the prices are very reasonable compared to other similar stores around town.I love to thrift and know that if I have hours and hours I could probably find cheaper prices in a thrift store but this is more a resell/retro store setting so they have done all the hard work for you and brought all the best pieces together in one place.
While I love all the artwork, day of the dead crafts, and jewelry my absolute favorite part of the store( other than the goods they sell of Bomb Shelter's) is there small section of locally published books and comics!
Oh and on a side note I attended a really awesome event that the owners put on every March at the state fairgounds called Underground Monster Carnival . When I walked into the show there were costumed people and artists everywhere along with emerging horror writers and film makers. plus they had this one room full of awesome haunt/horror exhibits where you could take loads of fun pics. I can't wait til the next one. Stop by Dig It sometime and talk to them about it to find out more.
