When you go to any McDonalds you know what to expect, i.e. inexpensive junk food. When you go to any Ding Tai Fung, you know what to expect, i.e. wait for a table, pick your dishes, sit down, your order arrives, eat and pay. It is amazing how efficient and smooth the process is and how they can uphold the quality of their dishes across different countries. I have tried several of their outlets within Asia including their main shop at Taipei and am always rest assured I get what I expected though they are pricier than comparable restaurants.

I had ; 1. Radish Cake (大根もち) 2. Wonton Noodles 3. Soup dumplings, pork (小籠包) Overall pretty nice. Well suited for the elderly as most things here taste mild but very fragrant. They also take note of your allergies and will prepare your food/suggest alternatives surrounding your allergies. Definitely a very good experience. Finding the restaurant is a little tricky though, you may have to navigate abit before you find it. Do note that during peak hours, a wait of ~30 minutes is expected. Call them to book a table or come a little earlier!

Joining a couple of other reviewers to say if you’ve been to a Din Tai Fung in China, you’ll probably be disappointed here. I’ve only been to the Taipei branch, but even so the Nagoya one doesn’t quite hold up by comparison. I should say first of all the food is (mostly) great, and comparable in quality, but it’s more expensive and the portions are smaller. There isn’t as much choice when it comes to beer either, I expected more Chinese beers. We also had a couple of more irritating problems here - after ordering and waiting 15 minutes a server came over and informed us that our order hadn’t been registered and he’d have to enter it again. The staff also seemed rushed and not particularly friendly. And one of our dishes took much longer than the others to arrive. And worst of all, I ordered a hot and sour soup which was not sour whatsoever! It was like they’d forgotten to add the vinegar or something. Aside from that though, it was really pretty good. We left filled and satisfied. Just quite a few too many gaffes got in the way.

We went as a group and the staff just canceled my order from the bill without saying something to us. So we waited for my dish but it never came. And when we asked them about it they just said i should order something else instead. Very rude. Utterly unacceptable service and i expected more from this establishment.

Getting regular beef noodle soup in Japan is difficult. I mean with actual beefy beef chunks and not wagyu or minced meat. This is the only Taiwanese resto/branch in Aichi so I was excited to visit. The soup was great. Beef was fatty and tender though I would prefer leaner cuts. You make up your mind first and list up your order. I wish they would make it more flexible next time like also putting chili oil and menu on the table just in case you want to spice up your soup/dipping sauce or order extra if you want to.

Unfortunately My personal opinion was SHANGHAI shop is better taste than here. Singapore, THAILAND and Japan were almost same quality. Not so much hot Xiao Long bao like Shanghai 🤭

Saw this and decided to try out, turned out the taste and quality wasn’t up to the expectation. Been to Taiwan and Singapore branches, they are so much better. One obvious observation, the Xiao Long Bao skin here is thicker and the texture is not as great.

average din tai fung. it is difficult to have some decent dimsum in other places in nagoya so you will have to go here if you are a dimsum maniac. A bit pricey but it is reasonable level.
