Dinghy's Beach Bar & Grill

Dinghy’s Beach Bar on Water Island was such a fun experience! We spent a few hours enjoying the beautiful surroundings, and it was a perfect day. The food was fantastic—we tried some appetizers and drinks, and everything was delicious. The kids had a blast playing in the water while we relaxed and soaked in the sun. The water ferry ride over added to the adventure, making the whole experience feel like a mini escape. The vibe at Dinghy’s is laid-back and welcoming, making it a must-visit spot for families and anyone looking to have a great time by the beach. Highly recommend!

Burgers and wings. Cocktails and drinks. Food was good. I had wings. They were flavorful. Bartender was a little moody but it's a beach. Can't stay sulky for long Cool chill spot on the beach.

We visited last week and will be back soon. Very nice. Not crowded. An easy self trip off the ship. I had so much fun I only have to and there pics.

What a great place to relax. Come enjoy the beach or the bar. The bathrooms are nothing fancy, but they do have running water. They have assorted island drinks frozen or on ice. And a good variety of beer. The waitress can get slow, but don't feel like you can't order from the bar. The bang bang shrimp was excellent. The conk fritters were served burned way over cooked. I highly recommend this place for a relaxing afternoon. We went right before the fall season started, so it was not that crowded.

Simple beach bar. Pleasant staff. Nice views over the bay. Cold beer.

The food is good....but the drinks are better!! Honeymoon beach is so nice to swim and relax! The bar often has live music or some sort of fun event going on! Always a good time!

We love Water Island. Unfortunately with Dinghy's it is the only thing there. Food and drinks are nice for a beach bar. Bartender is living in paradise and always looks like it's the worst place in the world. At least the waitresses smile. Someone needs to put a food truck on the beach to compete with them.

After you get off the ferry, get on the free shuttle and it'll drop you off right in front. Bartender was fast and friendly. Drinks were very reasonably priced and location is right on the beach. Enjoy a drink while laying in the sand or chilling in the water. We got a mango daiquiri, banana daiquiri and piña colada. Very refreshing and tasty!

The views seriously can't be beat. This is 1 of 2 options to eat on Water Island. Tons of seating. They also offer beach chairs and beach equipment to rent. Service can be hit or miss but mostly great. Keep in mind on Sundays the servers leave to catch the last ferry back to St Thomas so if you're eating after 6, you'll have to order at the bar and pick your food up from the kitchen. Most drinks are $10-12 Sodas and waters $2-3 Food is anywhere from $15-$30 It's pricey for what it is but this is a remote island and you don't have many options. That being said, the food is very good. Jerk Chicken had good spice and flavor to it. Corn was fresh. The pineapple salsa (comes with the fish dish) is delicious. Their regular service is decent. Standout employee is Clayton who really went above and beyond helping my family. They also do catering for events which is cool. They catered for a wedding I attended and the food was good but the service for catering was rough. The owner, Lisa, is frequently around.

Drinks and bar service is good. They sling cocktails quickly, no doubt. Food is not great. Heidi's honeymoon Grill/hilltop, much better food. Don't waste your time here for food,... But the beach and the drinks are great! The live music and floating bar are pretty cool. Great place to spend the day on the beach drinking. also, cheap snorkel, and chair rentals!

Good food. The chicken tenders and fries were tasty and full of flavor. Service was good and the setting was nice.

The food we had here (basically apps) was good. Our conch fritters and "bang bang" shrimp were very tasty. Plus I love the concept of having food on a beautiful beach. That said, so... many... bugs... You may or may not be able to enjoy your tasty food with so many swarming insects. Cocktails were also tasty, although very sweet. But it's not like you have a whole lot of choices here. So yeah, there's that...

While I wouldn't make a trip out to Water Island just to visit Dinghy's, it certainly was a great addition and option to have while enjoying the gorgeous Honeymoon beach. They are very classic entrees and appetizers, and great drinks too -- just what you're looking for when out on a beach day. Of course, you can't beat the view!

Absolutely amazing food.....Bang Bang Shrimp and Conch Fritters were the absolute best I have ever had in the Caribbean if not anywhere I have ever ate. The Blackened Mahi Tacos were amazing. We didn't wanna leave but unfortunately had too.

The location was spectacular. The food not so much. And the prices? Exorbitant. The servers? Not too friendly.

The most bland and overpriced food on the Island. Ordered catch of the day which was mahi mahi. Food came out cold, rise was extremely uncooked, hard as a rock. Felt like I'm eating plastic rice. Jerk chicken was also cold, dry and nothing compared to Jerk Chicken. Cole slaw so bland as well. No taste, no salt, pepper... just bland. Small portion for $25 a plate. Drinks as well, nothing too spectacular. Basic. Pina Colada tasted nothing like Pina Colada. Painkiller was just an orange juice . Definitely, do not recommend eating or getting drinks there. Nice, and peaceful beach .

Good food. Busy fun beach party vibe. Always a packed house with tables of 6+ so the service lags. Big beach area (honeymoon beach). Ample Dingy parking, boat anchoring, a dozen overnight mooring balls. Wait Staff is friendly, food is really good. We tried the Pork Quesadilla, Poke Bowl, Tuna Salad, Tuna tartar, chips and salsa. The Pork Quesadilla and the Poke Bowl are the stand outs. Good drinks (loved the rum, limeade and coconut cream drink) - HEAVENLY and strong. Great people watching!

Save your money go to Heidi's Over priced, half the menu items aren't available Been sitting here for an hour and a half and the server has only stopped by one time to bring beer which we waited 30 mins for This Place is a joke Where I come from tacos don't come on a bun

Water island and Dinghy's is a must stop if you have an open day on St.Thomas. We always arrive on the 10am boat over and spend the entire day at the beach and exploring the island. I suggest renting chairs at the bar because you can put a card down instead of paying cash at the chairs. The water and atmospheric is super nice and you will have a wonderful day. Food is slightly overpriced, but the drinks are accurate with pricing. Will be back when we come back to the island in 2 years.

It has been since pre hurricane to visit Water Island and Dinghy's beach bar. Beautiful day! Ordered the Catch of the Day sandwich (Mahi Mahi). It was good but a bit dry. Have had much better sandwich's on the island. A nice ferry ride from St Thomas to Water Island. Well worth the trip and the drinks are very good.

Waited an hour and a half an no server came to take our order. She saw us and completely ignored us, we ended up ordering food from the bar. Expect long waits, poor service and a short staffed bar and grill. The food was mediocre at best.

Ohh man what's not to love about Dinghy's. This place sums all the picture perfect requirements for a Caribbean vacation..turquoise blue water beach, great vibes, tasty food and super nice people. Even though water island is just a quick ferry ride away, it still feels very unique and less commercial. Dinghy's is one of the highlights of water island. Coming to food, we had the most delicious jerk chicken skewers here with the local island sauce. I still sometimes dream about that meal in my dreams :) Overall a great chill spot , definitely worth visiting!!

Dinghys is like the cherry on top of the perfect Sundae which is honeymoon beach. There is no honeymoon beach with out Dinghys and vice-versa. I'm all about the 80 degree weather and palm trees, but having Dingys near you to serve up delicious quesadillas, hot dogs, lion fish and Mexican salads is a must. The drinks are equally delicious (especially their spicy bloody Mary's) are meant to be enjoyed in the water. The awesome bar and grill is almost like the recreation department of a resort out here and provides its patrons with complimentary beach lounge chairs, umbrellas, wi-fi,safari rides to and from the ferry dock (5-7 minute ride), floating bar, a slew of flotation devices, beach games, and DJ entertainment. They also have kayaks, stand up paddle boards and snorkeling gear for rent. This is the only business on the island that takes credit cards and has an ATM. Service here has always been friendly and fast (just like the rest of water island). Prices are typical USVI rates (nothing is less than $10) but I don't mind paying because everything else is free. Some of the best memories are made with flip flops on, let your time here be one of them! #lifesabeach #beachaholic

Almost missed adding a review here ... this beach bar is located at honeymoon beach which was part of our excursion. Drinks tried the Frozen drink to begin with not a lot of alcohol but very refreshing. We changed to the Reef Life IPA beer much better alcohol wise, bitter tasting beer but not bad. Food we had the Chicken Caesar wrap nice & light perfect for the day comes with a small corn salad not bad, we shared it w the chicken lolll. Also tried Quesadilla very good, good for sharing & good Chicken fingers. This is one of 2 establishments on the island , great seating area no worries w table service since once the food is ordered they bring it over. Great place to relax, drink & enjoy the awesome beach views during your time on the beach we had an enjoyable few hours.

Located right on honeymoon beach, dinghy's definitely is the place to be, if not the only place you can be lol. They have a cute island feel and a small friendly staff that go hand and hand. We started off with some pina coladas, small size, but tasty, not too strong though. We also ordered some Reef Life IPA's that definitely had a strong bitter taste. Also ordered a grilled chicken cesar wrap, nice and hearty, not much to it. Overall a nice little convenient spot right on the beach, they even bring your order right to your lounge chair on the beach. We even fed the chickens some chicken roaming around the area lol

Thanks to Tripadvisor, we learned of Dinghy's, which is located on Water Island, just a short water taxi ($5pp each way) from St Thomas/Crown Bay Marina. There you will find clear water, great food, adult beverages, good music, beach chairs, umbrellas and friendly staff. Restrooms and a souvenir shop are there as well. When we arrived at Water Island, Jeff, the shuttle driver greeted us with open arms. The shuttle is both FREE and fast. You could definitely walk to the beach in 7 minutes just as well. It is very easy to find. Highly recommend the fish tacos and frozen mango madness cocktail. We liked them both so much that that ordered another round before finishing the first. Free shuttle, clear water, good food and a friendly bunch made it the perfect place to spend a half day. Definitely worth the half day trip or full day away from the resorts.

Beach side bar and restaurant in Druif Bay at Honeymoon Beach. Our group had multiple different drinks. One of my favorites was the stiff dinghy.... their version of a Long Island Ice Tea. Food was really good. We had the Conch fritters, shark bites, chips, salsa and multiple sandwiches. It was a nice pit stop on our catamaran journey.

Such a great bar to visit if your in St Thomas or St. John! We took a private charter here and loved every moment of ordering amazing cocktails and hanging out in the water with other patrons! Strawberry N Creme cocktails was AMAZING!

Jake was awesome! He let us make a bunch of music requests. The drinks were so good and the food was delicious. Such a fun environment!

I got the fish tacos. They were rather cold as if the fish had sat a while. Afterward, I got Sick.The service was awful, having to chase down a waitress to let me pay a very long time after the partially eaten food was collected. I would not eat there again if it was the only dinner place on the island; oh, I guess it is.

No day on Water Island is complete without a trip to Dinghy's for a snack, meal, or drink. BBQ pulled pork sandwich was delicious and the Buffalo chicken sandwich came as a bunch of Buffalo chicken tenders on a bun. Bar is well stocked, dining area was clean, and staff were friendly. Can't wait to go back next time we come to St Thomas.

They charge $10 for chairs increased pricing on drinks - and bathroom smells like raw sewage because they don't pump out

Decent spot to spend an afternoon. The bar has good options with affordable prices. The food is a bit overpriced but is good all things considered. Would definitely return.

Loved this place, it rained while there but ocean water still warm. Service sweet(employees very friendly) with lack of electricity. No credit card machine- only cash due to hurricane! Boat taxi to island from cruise dock $10 pp Free ride to beach spot ... or walk if your up for it great photo stop area.

Best buffalo chicken wrap I've ever had...and I order it everywhere! Their beach chairs are overcrowded but the food is great and the beer is cold

Such a great beach restaurant and bar! First off, what a great idea to give free rides to the beach right off the ferry! I mean most restaurants on the mainland that have valet service to their own parking lots cost an arm and a leg. These guys drive you to the beach with no expectation of you spending any money at their place. Which just makes you want to support them more! The drinks were delicious, the paddlewhacker is truly amazing. The food was very appetizing and the beach is great. We swam with four large sea turtles right in front of the restaurant. What an epic experience, and when you are done they will shuttle you back to the ferry for free! Can't wait to come back again soon!

Really good pulled pork enchiladas. When you come to the islands you have to take the water ferry over and spend the day at honeymoon bay. Sit on the water or in the water, you choose. Enjoy some great local dishes and traditional favorites in one of the prettiest settings anywhere on the planet. When you picture a beach bar/restaurant in the Caribbean, this place should be photographed on Wikipedia. You will love it and make sure you get a golf cart from Kelly and Steve. Explore the island then park your cart at waters edge and grab some food!

Great little place located at Honeymoon Beach on Water Island. We had the burgers, which were really good. But the conch fritters were legit. Have to praise the cooks, Pam and Dimitri (I think that was name) as I watched them during a very busy time cook up some delicious grub. Even though they were busy they were pretty efficient. Great view and great music as well.

When you're bartenders are sassy and respectful this is the spot for everything. I'd been looking for the beach bar my entire vacation. My favorite concoction was the "paddlewhacker" which had chocolate and peanut butter blended with the rest of the "Bushwhacker." I couldn't say enough about the lionfish tacos...true local stuff right there, but I had wanted the full plate which they were out of but that is ok, as I won the argument with my girlfriend and we didn't have to get different things. We tend to look at the menu and always want the same stuff haha. The music was just that perfect beach chilling vibe. The only thing I wish they had was dancing and a ferry that went home at three AM. There's like no good dancing/beach dancing on the VIrgin Islands which sucks but meh, write your own song and cut a rug! With the way the beach is cut you can take your cocktail and just sit in the water soaking in all of the ray. Great times!

Be careful of this place. They recently accepted a fraudulent use of my credit card for a bill payment. I've never been there or anywhere in the Caribbean and my card is never out of my possession. Looks like a fun place, but not too good on clientele using bogus credit cards.

One of the best fish tacos I've ever had. A "slab" of mahi, perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of toppings. Three tacos were a generous serving. My bride had a deliciously fresh poke bowl that she raves about. Wait staff was solid - quick, attentive, friendly and polite. Some of the best drinks we've had in the islands. And, you can sit right in the beach with a beautiful view. Don't skip an opportunity to go here.

Dinghy's food is restaurant quality! (Not what you would expect from a beach bar on a remote island). The grilled chicken sandwich and chicken tenders were juicy! The beach attendants to help you with chairs and rentals were so sweet too! Thanks for the great time. See you next year (:

Lots of fun to be had here.... great drinks and delicious food at not crazy expensive prices. Location is perfect for views, swimming, snorkeling g, boating. Music, drink specials, and a changing menu are offered specific nights. My faves are Funday Sundays with pork Dos tacos and vodka pineapple...shout out to waitstaff, bartenders and servers who are especially friendly & nice!

Great bar at Honeymoon Beach on Water Island. Take the ferry from Tickles for $5 a person and then they even offer you a free shuttle from the dock on Water Island to the beach. Drinks are good, company is great and you can't beat the views. Pro tip: walk around water island and explore!

OMG. Dinghy's is where it's at in St. Thomas. I'm almost hesitant to review because I don't want everyone to know about this secret! Water Island is a much less touristy beautiful beach in St. Thomas. Dinghy's occupies about half the beach with free chairs and tables, as well as a full liquor bar, and water sport rentals. You can rent paddleboards, scuba gear and some other great things. The drinks are strong and delicious. After talking to the owner, I found out they also have a burrito place in downtown St Pete! I will have to check that out soon. In order to get to Water Island, you have to take a water taxi that docks right near Tickles Bar & Grill. After a quick 10 minute ride, you'll arrive and Dinghy's provides free shuttles from the dock to the beach (believe me, you won't want to climb this hill). They also provide free shuttles back to the dock, perfectly timed with the water taxi schedule. Absolutely loved Dinghy's and can't wait to go back!!

It's a beautiful spot and we always love coming here for a slow weekday. Two things bothered us this year however: you have to pay to use the beach lounges and after leaving I noticed our tab had two $9 frozen items on it which we never ordered. Dear Dinghy's, we like your spot but please do not try to over monetize your special spot. You shall expect a dispute on $18. Thanks.

My sisters and I spent the last week on Water Island and were at Dinghy's every day for at least a little while but usually the whole day! The people there are #1 and getting to know Jeff and Jim this past week was a highlight for me! The drinks were delicious and although I mostly stuck with beer, the four of us really enjoyed the Paddlewhacker and my other favorite was the QAC! Each day had a different feature on the food menu and we usually tried them because they were so good. Highlights were the Pasta Bolognese, the tuna melt and the Thai Coconut soup! The regular menu food was great too - frequently dined on the quesadillas and fries to get us through the afternoon! The chairs and umbrellas were free which seems so rare and they just ask that you patronize the bar and grill which we were happy to do. There was music some afternoons/evenings that was great and Trivia night that was difficult but fun! (Jeff even joined our think-tank team!) I nearly forgot the little floating bar! It's fantastic when it gets warm. I really can't say enough about the people there - their congeniality last week made leaving the island even more difficult and I can't wait to see them again!

Service was really slow and they lost our tab. However food was delicious. The Buffalo chicken wrap and pulled pork sandwich were both fantastic! Cocktails are very tasty but not very strong. I had 4 drinks over the course of 4 hours and wasn't even a tiny bit buzzed. The location right on Honeymoon Beach is great! Overall for a beach bar, it's very good.

Who doesn't love a taco shop right on the beach? Laid back restaurant with great tacos! Definitely would recommend having one. Probably should have gotten a drink but I was busy staying hydrated as it was a hot day. Don't be like me-try one! Great views of the beach too!
