During the weekend of December 25, 2024, my boyfriend and I visited Minnesota to explore Paisley Park and catch a Vikings game. While there, we stumbled upon this incredible coffee shop, and it was an absolute gem! The vibe here is unmatched—imagine sipping on amazing coffee while browsing through actual records and albums. It’s such a unique and nostalgic concept that truly stands out. The atmosphere was warm, creative, and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and recharge. The service was just as exceptional as the coffee, with friendly and attentive staff who made the experience even better. If you’re in the area, this place is a must-visit. I can’t wait to go back!

This was such a fun combo of coffee and music! I had a red eye which was well crafted with pour over, and then enjoyed myself sifting through the collection of records that were actually quite affordable. Genres ranged beyond disco to rock, alternative, pop, folk, country, and more with a section of new records and releases as well. The service was curt but efficient, but perhaps I’ve become accustomed to small town charm.

The story I was told was that the owners were previously bartenders before opening up Disco Death. I think the care and attention crafted to each drink speaks to that story. They make their chai in house and the coffee is great. But it’s their specialty drinks that really make this place shine imo. To top it off they develop film and sell records. Really stands out among the countless cafes in Minneapolis. I’d consider it one of the best.

The vinyl records are a cool niche to a coffee shop. I do enjoy the vibe of the interior. It's not really located in the best of places if you are looking to grab a drink and enjoy a walk. They do have some enjoyable drinks. I find the selection to taste pretty good. I think I just don't enjoy the staff very much. They come off as unfriendly. I did report we found a fly in my partner's drink and I had to order a new one, they just waved us off

Enjoyed one of the best iced matchas I've ever had. One of the baristas was super kind and gave me a free drink voucher after the syrup for my original drink order was out.

Google
Great coffee & good vibes all around. Disco Death Records had a great selection of vinyl and a great selection in drinks. I would recommend the satan iced coffee, it was an absolute delight and the barista made my drink well. Great spot to stop in and check out in the neighborhood.

Google
Good shop, good concept, the coffee is good too, however the times I’ve been there lately the person at the counter has been on a mean streak, does not give the option to get non dairy options or get the drinks iced or hot, when this is pointed out to him he always says we should “ask for it” even when it is done. It was one of my everyday pics for coffee but after one too many interactions like this. I’ll look for alternatives.

One of my favorite coffee shops! Their homemade chai is amazing and I love the Golden Years and Never Fernet drinks. I've honestly loved every drink I've tried. I also always find something in their record collection I like. This time, I stayed to read and the barista was playing really peaceful ambient; it made for the perfect atmosphere. I always try to stop when I'm in Minneapolis.

Yelp
What a cute coffee shop that is also a record store, and also a photo developing spot, and also sells local makers, and also has a deep cassette tape stock. I had a really great pastry and a perfectly delicious iced coffee. Do wish they had more non dairy options than solely oat milk, but otherwise everything was lovely. Great place to sit and do work as there is a lot of seating, including a few tables outside. There are some inventive drinks on the menu if you're a coffee nerd and want to explore. The record collection was super diverse, and ranged all over the place, while seeming to be curated really well. If I lived in the area this would definitely be a regular spot.

Yelp
After driving past Disco Death multiple times a week all year, I finally stopped in and I'm obsessed! I went to do some work from home, and it was a great space; accessible outlets and comfy seating, and it was so cool to be able to browse some vinyl when I wanted a break! I was really impressed with how big their selection was--in addition to LPs, they had 7"s and cassettes too. The barista who was working when I was there was also amazing--I didn't catch their name, but they were so fun to talk to and gave me a great drink recommendation. I got the Matcha.com ($7) (just now realizing that's a play on Match.com as I type it out haha) with oat milk, which was matcha, milk, and coco lopez (which is a cream of coconut that's apparently usually used in piña coladas?). It was one of my favorite drinks I've had all year--I feel like I'd never truly had a quality matcha before this since I'm usually a coffee drinker, but this is the drink that put me onto matcha. Will 100% back here sooner rather than later!

Yelp
Came in with a group of 6 on vacation. I was the first to order. Asked for a hot pour over. The unfriendly barista said that it would take too much time coming with that many people and that he wasn't going to make that. Only cool thing was the variety of records for sale. Won't be back for the mediocre coffee or the poor attitudes and customer service!

Yelp
Surprisingly diverse record selection considering the smaller size of the store. A better selection of punk records, especially 45s, compared to most. A large portion of the records appear to be new so the prices tend to be in the $30s-$40s. Plenty of records I would have bought had they not been brand new. Haven't tried the coffee selections but based on the crowd on a Saturday I'm guessing they're quite good. Parking is very limited since it's street only and this is near the heart of Uptown.

Yelp
I stumbled upon disco death records on Instagram and knew it would have to make it into my list of coffee shops to try. We came in on a casual Saturday morning and decided to try two speciality drinks (the Daemon and the Satan) and were impressed with both. The best part part of the coffee shop for me is the aesthetic. They had some slow jams playing on a record and the ability to look through the new and used records while waiting for our coffee was a simple Saturday joy.

Yelp
Great coffee and chai made in house! Huge selection of old and new records of every genre

Yelp
Great spot for coffee and records! A delightful assortment of options on both fronts. Offering records for every taste and unique coffees options to meet all palates. I was both pleased and surprised to see Vietnamese coffee on the menu, not a common option in the cities. Not only is the coffee well made, but a perfect chill vibe to match. Make sure to turn off Lyndale and visit this wonderful spot!

Yelp
I've been here twice now and both times, the same barista was incredibly rude. I figured it may have been a bad day the first time and gave it a second shot but when their attitude only worsened the second time and I witnessed them be rude to the people behind us, I have to assume that it's simply...who they are. It's a shame cause the coffee is good and it's a cute place, but the deliberate animosity and poor customer service make it impossible to actually enjoy your $8 latte.

Yelp
this place is LEGIT. i wondered when i arrived if their not so large collection would be not so great, but damn was i wrong. i found a sun ra record i didn't have, which rarely happens. i also found some more digger's delights, not to mention the macchiato was super tasty. would recommend for anyone who wants to peruse a very well manicured selection of records!

Yelp
Great coffee, eclectic vibe, wonderful selection of vinyl records, they even have a reel-to-reel. Not a huge number of seats but patrons were friendly and shared. There's a photo lab randomly situated at the back of the space...as with most great coffee shops sometimes it's about a feel, and this place has it.

Yelp
Excellent record selection at reasonable prices plus film processing and inventive craft drinks and coffee shop basics! I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't speak to that, but their teas are lovely. It's my go-to spot for studying-- the playlist always slaps.

Yelp
I love this place. I enjoy searching through the records to find the ones to bring home while sipping on a great coffee.

Yelp
Combining two of my favorite things!! They have amazing coffee! Some really great lattes and the baristas are great. Records are a little pricey, but they do seem to have a lot harder to find ones. Overall, I really love this place

Yelp
i never leave reviews but this is the best spot in the twin cities! i can't get enough of it- awesome vibes, natural light, great music, coffee *chefs kiss*
