Disco Death Records & Coffee

Google
It's a record store... it's a coffee shop... it's a photo lab/film store... it's AMAZING!! The lattes are delicious and the treats are a cool variety - Aussie Bites, stroopwafels and delicious French bakery offerings (to mention a few). The record selection is eclectic and vast. You can also buy hand rolled film here! What more could you ask for?

My partner and I really loved the atmosphere, service. and the ability to shop for some music here. Our barista was super kind, and the shop had some a friendly energy. Sadly, the coffee was lacking compared to the many other coffee shops we went to in Minneapolis, but we still enjoyed our time and would return to see if it gets better or if that might've been a fluke. It was nice that I could purchase some film for my camera while I was here as well.

Google
this place is so cool. only downside is that it fills up and there are not that many seats, so if you’re looking for a cafe to work at, make sure to go at an off time, otherwise you may not be able to sit down. the record selection is amazing, and they have hands down the tastiest espresso in the area per my patented ultra-scientific “cappuccino test.” don’t be fooled by the specialty drinks, they look exciting but they’re all sweet. get a latte or a cappuccino and let the flavor transport you.

During the weekend of December 25, 2024, my boyfriend and I visited Minnesota to explore Paisley Park and catch a Vikings game. While there, we stumbled upon this incredible coffee shop, and it was an absolute gem! The vibe here is unmatched—imagine sipping on amazing coffee while browsing through actual records and albums. It’s such a unique and nostalgic concept that truly stands out. The atmosphere was warm, creative, and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and recharge. The service was just as exceptional as the coffee, with friendly and attentive staff who made the experience even better. If you’re in the area, this place is a must-visit. I can’t wait to go back!

I went here and purchased a double shot of espresso. The espresso was a good quality, with s good body and moderate acidity (guessing a medium roast). No grounds in the shot, and free, clean water offered to the side on the counter! It was such a unique atmosphere in there, with records for sale of all types, including ones I never considered finding nowadays. Plants, retro decor, and the photo vault in the back create a great experience for taking someone on a date. At the time, only one person was operating both the pay station and espresso bar. Considering the stress involved, she was quite friendly, and worked at a good pace with good craftsmanship. I was quite impressed.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here at Disco Death Coffee and Records. The speciality coffee drinks are unique and well-made. The baristas are all nice and accepting. It’s a real neighborhood vibe. The records are fun as well. It’s a chill place 10/10 a little gem in the neighborhood.

Nice little record store, coffee shop and film developer! Great drinks! I never thought banannas and coffee would go together, but here I am miles away and craving an iced coffee with bananna foam. Wonderful vinyl selection. No comedy section, but lots of treasures hidden in the bottom shelves for folks willing to get down low. I wish I had gotten on the floor first! Will definitely be back for a visit.

What an incredible little spot. Best record selection in town. Staff are always welcoming to my partner and I. We both geek over the chai. It’s really cool to see a small business giving back and helping build the neighborhood. All around, this is what Minneapolis community should aspire to be. Can’t wait for your next vintage market

Yelp
What a cute coffee shop that is also a record store, and also a photo developing spot, and also sells local makers, and also has a deep cassette tape stock. I had a really great pastry and a perfectly delicious iced coffee. Do wish they had more non dairy options than solely oat milk, but otherwise everything was lovely. Great place to sit and do work as there is a lot of seating, including a few tables outside. There are some inventive drinks on the menu if you're a coffee nerd and want to explore. The record collection was super diverse, and ranged all over the place, while seeming to be curated really well. If I lived in the area this would definitely be a regular spot.

Yelp
After driving past Disco Death multiple times a week all year, I finally stopped in and I'm obsessed! I went to do some work from home, and it was a great space; accessible outlets and comfy seating, and it was so cool to be able to browse some vinyl when I wanted a break! I was really impressed with how big their selection was--in addition to LPs, they had 7"s and cassettes too. The barista who was working when I was there was also amazing--I didn't catch their name, but they were so fun to talk to and gave me a great drink recommendation. I got the Matcha.com ($7) (just now realizing that's a play on Match.com as I type it out haha) with oat milk, which was matcha, milk, and coco lopez (which is a cream of coconut that's apparently usually used in piña coladas?). It was one of my favorite drinks I've had all year--I feel like I'd never truly had a quality matcha before this since I'm usually a coffee drinker, but this is the drink that put me onto matcha. Will 100% back here sooner rather than later!

Yelp
Came in with a group of 6 on vacation. I was the first to order. Asked for a hot pour over. The unfriendly barista said that it would take too much time coming with that many people and that he wasn't going to make that. Only cool thing was the variety of records for sale. Won't be back for the mediocre coffee or the poor attitudes and customer service!

Yelp
Surprisingly diverse record selection considering the smaller size of the store. A better selection of punk records, especially 45s, compared to most. A large portion of the records appear to be new so the prices tend to be in the $30s-$40s. Plenty of records I would have bought had they not been brand new. Haven't tried the coffee selections but based on the crowd on a Saturday I'm guessing they're quite good. Parking is very limited since it's street only and this is near the heart of Uptown.

Yelp
I stumbled upon disco death records on Instagram and knew it would have to make it into my list of coffee shops to try. We came in on a casual Saturday morning and decided to try two speciality drinks (the Daemon and the Satan) and were impressed with both. The best part part of the coffee shop for me is the aesthetic. They had some slow jams playing on a record and the ability to look through the new and used records while waiting for our coffee was a simple Saturday joy.

Yelp
Great coffee and chai made in house! Huge selection of old and new records of every genre

Yelp
Great spot for coffee and records! A delightful assortment of options on both fronts. Offering records for every taste and unique coffees options to meet all palates. I was both pleased and surprised to see Vietnamese coffee on the menu, not a common option in the cities. Not only is the coffee well made, but a perfect chill vibe to match. Make sure to turn off Lyndale and visit this wonderful spot!

Yelp
I've been here twice now and both times, the same barista was incredibly rude. I figured it may have been a bad day the first time and gave it a second shot but when their attitude only worsened the second time and I witnessed them be rude to the people behind us, I have to assume that it's simply...who they are. It's a shame cause the coffee is good and it's a cute place, but the deliberate animosity and poor customer service make it impossible to actually enjoy your $8 latte.

Yelp
this place is LEGIT. i wondered when i arrived if their not so large collection would be not so great, but damn was i wrong. i found a sun ra record i didn't have, which rarely happens. i also found some more digger's delights, not to mention the macchiato was super tasty. would recommend for anyone who wants to peruse a very well manicured selection of records!

Yelp
Great coffee, eclectic vibe, wonderful selection of vinyl records, they even have a reel-to-reel. Not a huge number of seats but patrons were friendly and shared. There's a photo lab randomly situated at the back of the space...as with most great coffee shops sometimes it's about a feel, and this place has it.

Yelp
Excellent record selection at reasonable prices plus film processing and inventive craft drinks and coffee shop basics! I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't speak to that, but their teas are lovely. It's my go-to spot for studying-- the playlist always slaps.

Yelp
I love this place. I enjoy searching through the records to find the ones to bring home while sipping on a great coffee.

Yelp
Combining two of my favorite things!! They have amazing coffee! Some really great lattes and the baristas are great. Records are a little pricey, but they do seem to have a lot harder to find ones. Overall, I really love this place

Yelp
i never leave reviews but this is the best spot in the twin cities! i can't get enough of it- awesome vibes, natural light, great music, coffee *chefs kiss*
