The best place in Madrid to dance salsa, bachata, merenge. Very kind staff also. The drinks are very well done. Nice atmosphere

The music was okay, the usual salsa and bachata which can be found in every place for dancers. The bar is nice and the 10€ entry fee which contains one drink is reasonable. The cloakroom charges 2€/item, which is outrageous in my opinion, as all of our stuff was put on one hanger, and we still had to pay 8€. Next time I will definitely bring a backpack and put everything there. There were no locks on the toilet doors in the ladies room, which is quite inconvenient. Apart from this, it was a nice experience.

Entrance fee covers one drink, there were some girls giving out free passes in the front later on so keep an eye out for them. The wardrobe charges per item (scarf, cardigan and coat separately)! But also bags are allowed so maybe put everything in one bag and be done. Drinks were good and music great. Got a bit packed later on but could still dance.

Great local place to try tapas and wine. This was part of our tapas and wine tour in Madrid. The tapas were great, the staff was friendly. We tried vermouth as recommend by our guide and it was really good too.

My daughter and I found this little gem on a Thursday night. . . last night of our Spanish holiday; first night in Madrid. Luckily bumped into a local d.j. at another club who knew we were looking for the best place in Madrid for Latin dance. He led us right to the door. This place, “el Son”, in the heart of the city did not disappoint. 10 euros cover charge, including a drink was very reasonable. Great atmosphere. Great music, with nice mix of salsa, bachata, merengue and some regaton. We got there at about 10:30 pm. Fairly quiet with tons of space to move on the dance floor. Warmed up at midnight with dance floor pretty packed by 12:30 am. Dancers of all levels having fun. Wish we could have stayed all night but had a morning flight back to U.S. the next day and had to leave just after 1. Would go back to el Son in a heartbeat and fully recommend to all Salsa (Latin dance) aficionados!

Discoteqa El Son spins a variety of Latin music including salsa, bachata and merengue. Everything starts late, if you get there at midnight might be disappointed with the small crowd you may find. As time passes crowd does get bigger, and the floor gets full of dancers. Did see a range of mostly beginner to medium level dancers, and in a corner the pros doing crowd pleasing spins. Discoteqa El Son is a friendly welcoming place. There’s a 10 Euro cover charge to get in but it includes a free drink. Nice selection of hard liquors, specially rums. Options from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Cuba among the rum selection. Some reggaeton played as we were leaving. Too busy dancing than taking pictures.

We were a group from Tenneseee, DC and Puerto Rico and we danced salsa bachata allll night!!! The dance Professor was a whole vibe absolutEly had a blast! Drinks were great aswell.

Great place to dance, the floor was various bachata salsa mostly, good dancers and music.

10€ entrance fee includes one drink. 1€/item for coat check (scarves are separately charged!!!). Service at bar was attentive. Music is good. Plays salsa, bachata, merengue. Limited space. Flying elbows everywhere. I'm the guiri who Dan C. mentioned that can't dance at all. I even got hipchecked a couple of times. Came with 2 other friends (1 was good enough to dance on TV) and can confirm not serious salsa. Bathroom stalls only have one roll of toilet paper. No replacement rolls. Proceed with caution. YES. THIS PLACE IS A GREASY PICK-UP JOINT. But I wouldn't know if the aggressive guy are good dancers or not bc I can't dance yo. My friends had fun dancing though! I had fun trying to learn to stop lifting my shoulders and start moving my hips. Hips don't lie.

I had a great time as a Giri (tourist). It's on the Pub Crawl list of places, so yes, you will get a bunch of tourists sometimes. I found that the guys there were excellent to dance with. It does get a little crowded, so limited space, but great dancers (you just have to know how to spot them) and a great environment. I danced Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, you name it. We were there on a Saturday. Great time!!!

We had a lot of fun dancing here. The music is a mix of salsa , bachata and little merengue. The dancers can be wild so watch out for elbows and heels but it is a fun spot for salsa dancing in Madrid.

I have been to El Son several times and didn't have much fun either time. They charge about 8-10 EUR entrance which gets you one drink. El Son is dubbed as a Salsa club, however, it is not for the serious Salsa enthusiast. Most of the people are at the beginner or wannabe level so to speak (for example, they don't wear salsa shoes) and it is many a venue for guys to come to pick up girls... Apparently Monday nights are good for serious salsa, otherwise, I find this place to be a greasy pick-up joint... If you are reading this and into salsa, check out Azucar (best in Madrid) for salsa.

I always had a good time here despite the fact that much of what Derrick says is true! I always bought the entrance package with two drinks and I did really like their mojitos and caipirinhas. Yes, it's not a pro salsa spot and there are a lot of guys (esp South Americans in my experience) who aggressively hit on girls but sometimes they are also great dancers. Other times they're terrible, haha. Lots of guiris who can't dance at all too. But its still a lot of fun. I did manage to dance with a lot of really good dancers when I was there and I also learned how to tell guys to knock it off (like after one guy licked my cheek, eeewwww).
