Discover Children's Story Centre

Took my young son here recently. I think is definitely a good place for entertaining the little ones. Definitely recommended. But my young son is finding the monster funfair not that interesting as there is nothing scary at all.

Great day out with family visiting the Discover children's story centre. We had tried the following during our visit on Sunday 24th August: - Monster Fair -Story Worlds (GF and first floor) - Outdoor garden - Lego Street Overall, we all enjoyed ourselves as there was a lot to do for children such as exploring the different areas, making crafts, reading stories, and being physically active. Story telling and Monster exhibition were fantastic. Very interactive, exciting and entertaining. Great location and easy to get to via train, or bus. On site toilets, cafe and great attentive staff. Highly recommend to others. We were very lucky to freely explore without any queues or rush. Purchased tickets in advance and listed around 11.30am on a weekend towards the end of the summer holidays.

Creative, imaginative and full of wonder from start to finish! My children were completely absorbed in the storytelling trails, exploring the enchanting spaces and letting their imaginations run wild. The interactive exhibits are beautifully designed, and the outdoor story garden (complete with a spaceship!) was a big hit. It’s the kind of place that brings books to life and makes learning feel like an adventure. The only reason for four stars is that the space felt a bit limited.

Amazing place to inspire young readers. Interactive and fun to explore. The Monster funfair was brilliant too. The story teller doing the tricks was great and engaging. The pre arrival information was really informative. Only comment was the cafe forgot to give me my food and drink that I had paid for. Once I finally got it, I ended up having to leave my drink outside the funfair which then got knocked over by another person, so I still didn’t get to enjoy it anyway. Other than that, brilliant experience. My daughter loved it. The place really got her imagination flowing.

We had our daughter's second birthday party here yesterday. We were absolutely thrilled with the experience from start to finish. The venue is fantastic, the service was outstanding and everything ran so smoothly thanks to your team. A special thank you to Rohana, who went above and beyond throughout the entire event. She was attentive, proactive and incredibly kind making sure every detail was perfect. We truly appreciated her support. We were especially impressed with the Monsters Exhibition Center. The pictures on your website and LinkedIn don’t fully capture how incredible the space is — the exhibition and the birthday room exceeded all our expectations. The birthday room itself was immaculate, spacious and equipped with everything we needed. The team provided the cake stand, the speaker and all the little touches that made the celebration so easy and enjoyable. We were also pleasantly surprised by how affordable the pricing is given the quality of the venue and experience.

I was quite disappointed with my recent visit to Discover Children’s Story Centre. Unfortunately, we were given false information at reception. We had children under 1 and under 3 years old, and the receptionist told us there was lots to do. The price was £10 per person. We specifically asked if there was soft play, and she said yes, that there was an area for that, which set the wrong expectations from the start. The venue itself feels outdated and not particularly well maintained. The cleanliness was below what I would expect for a children’s attraction, which was concerning. As you go in, there are broken lockers and prams just left there. Inside, there are a few different coloured lights, but nothing impressive — just very simple. There is a small boat and a small area for kids to draw. The second floor is much the same. There is nothing that really stands out or feels interesting for parents to enjoy with their children. It is very dull. There were also very limited activities available for kids, and overall it did not feel engaging or worth the visit. I hope management takes feedback seriously and works on improving the experience. They should also provide better training for front-of-house staff to ensure they are transparent and not misleading visitors with false information. Personally, it felt like a waste of money and time. It looks great from the outside, but the inside is completely outdated

I adored this place! I went with my 16 months old daughter today and we had so much fun. The place is incredible and you can really enjoy and imagine you are in different stories. We also did the Festive Storytelling and Express Polar and it was amazing. The stuff are very friendly, the space beautiful and they have a nice cafe inside with good prices. You can bring your baby and also old kids. I will definitely come back and I highly recommend this place. ❤️😊

Great place for rainy day with kids, gets busy on weekends so recommend going early or towards the end of the day. My son is five and loved it, great outdoor space, the Lego wall in the cafe is a nice touch. A few exhibits could do with fixing/improving but I know they are closing soon for repairs and it didn't take away from the overall experience.

Very limited play areas. The ground floor consisted of an art area (wooden spoon, color pens and tape), a small slide, climbing structure, and a simulated ship reading nook. The first floor has a boat area, rocket ship, and a outdoors . I believe we paid an extra amount to attend this special event closer to closing time where kids were treated to an additional play area for about 45 minutes. Unsure if entire price was worth it but if you're in the area and it's a rainy day by all means come here.
