I spent two nights here on business. Let’s be clear from the start: this isn’t a hotel, it’s a chalet in a caravan park. Spacious, sure, but dated. The kind of place where nothing looks new, yet everything still basically works. The bed had seen better days, and the Wi-Fi was more of a rumour than a service. Maybe that’s just where my unit was, maybe not.|Security is dialled up to Alcatraz. High fences, locked gates, codes for everything. On the upside, you know your car and your gear will still be there in the morning. The staff were friendly and helpful, which goes a long way.|As for food, forget walking out your door to grab a bite. There’s nothing in sight for a kilometre and a half. But this is Kalgoorlie. Taxis roam, though Uber does not. You can have a few drinks in town, catch a cab back, and punch in the gate code like a tired miner coming off shift.|It isn’t particularly cheap, but that’s Kal. If you come here expecting a hotel, you’ll be disappointed. If you come here because it’s the only option, it does the job.
