Like many travellers, we chose Discovery Parks – Perth Airport for a one-night stay on 20/04 before an early flight. Unfortunately, it turned into a nightmare. We camped in a swag just a meter from our vehicle near the kitchen and other shared facilities (site 31), surrounded by other tents. During the night, while we slept, our unlocked car was broken into and two suitcases and two rucksacks were stolen.||||This wasn’t a quick smash-and-grab. The thieves carefully went through our belongings next to the laundry and bathroom areas, selectively taking high-value items like two laptops, an iPad, and earphones, while leaving behind anything that could trace them – AirTags, car keys, etc. They even scattered some of our personal ID documents around the campsite, showing they took their time and felt no fear of being caught (see photos of our found items).||||The next morning, we learned this wasn’t an isolated incident. Other guests told us this had happened two or three nights in a row. One neighbour had an e-bike stolen after its cable was cut from their trailer. Another said their car was also opened. Even the police mentioned this caravan park has had ongoing issues with theft.||||The most shocking part? The management's complete lack of responsibility or concern. When we reported it, the receptionist brushed it off as "bad luck" and said theft is to be expected during busy periods like Easter. She casually mentioned that this has happened before and even suggested the thieves may escape along the river by the park. Despite having a CCTV camera at the front gate, she dismissed reviewing the footage as "“pointless, citing high activity between 1am–5am "". The manager never even showed up or reached out to us. It was excuse after excuse to avoid doing anything helpful or reassuring.||||The only person who actually helped was a maintenance staff member, who kindly assisted us in recovering some of our scattered items. His support was the sole silver lining in an otherwise appalling experience.||||Final warning to future guests:||Theft is clearly a known and ongoing issue at this park, and there seems to be zero action taken by management to prevent or address it. No additional security, no warnings to guests, no signs posted, no accountability. Consider this your warning.
