"Colorful, creative and designed around experiential learning, Charlotte's Discovery Place is the place to keep kids of all ages entertained. Here, you won't be reading placards–you'll be learning firsthand. The exhibits are interactive and fun, and while they're geared for kids, adults will enjoy it too. There is no guided tour. This is the kind of place where patrons run to the exhibit that interests them the most before moving on to the next great thing. Great museum, in my opinion one of the best ones I've ever been too. Right when you walk in the frogs are incredible. I didn't even know there were that many types of frogs! The next part was more old artifacts that were super cool. Some of them scared me, spiders got something scary bout them. The top floor was really interactive for kids, with a real bed of nails you can lay on. A chair you sit on and pull yourself into the sky. If your in Charlotte, this is another must see attraction.

Google
Lots of cool things, kept my 16-year-old and my seven-year-old attention and captivated the space was clean. Staff was helpful and friendly parking was OK. You also get a 25% off pass for your parking ticket. I’m assuming if you pay online I paid online. I don’t know how we got the 25% off at the counter, but it was offered m

Really fun experience! Here visiting and it was raining so was needing something indoors. My daughter would have stayed here for 4-5 hrs if we had the time! We spent 2.5hrs and it flew by because it was so interesting and hands on. Tons of experiences and stations to do hands on things! My only complaint was the parking. There is a garage but is $17 for 2hrs or $30 for the day. That’s ridiculous when we already spent $72 for 2 adults and 1 child to enter. Parking should be included. We parked down the road in a lot that was $15 for the day and less than 5 minute walk. Otherwise was a blast! Could be a full day if you added in imax and lunch nearby.

I had an amazing time at Discovery Place Science in Charlotte! This museum is full of interactive exhibits that make science fun and engaging for all ages. We got to touch a snake and sea stars, which was an unforgettable experience! On the third floor, there’s a creative space where you can build your own projects using boxes and tape—perfect for those who love hands-on creativity and solving scientific puzzles. The second floor felt like stepping into a tropical fairy tale, with beautiful birds flying around in a lush rainforest setting. The aquarium section was also a nice surprise, and the live science demonstrations were fascinating. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, making the visit even more enjoyable. Whether you’re visiting with kids or just love science and creativity, this place is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend!

Google
Fantastic place to spend a day with your kids. There are countless handson experiences they can do, from playing with water, magnets, gears, building toy cars, playing music with different objects like pans. There are 3 floors full of exitement and open imagination for the kids. They have an aquarium section with lots of different species and one area where they can touch starfishs and sea urchins. Lots of interesting stuff for the little ones and the no so little as well. The dining options are really good and in the healthier side with fun names and shapes for the kids, like the “spaceadilla” with a rocket shape. We didnt had the chance to go into the IMAX shows but it was a great day at the museum. You can save $5 per person when you buy your tickets online.

Google
Fantastic place! Well designed with three floors of fun stuff. We spent so much time on floors 1 & 3 we didn't even get to floor 2. The Discovery/STEM lab on the first floor was excellent, our kids spent hours in there. Huge shout out to Menelik and the two other young guys working the room, they were so enthusiastic and fun! The made the place very enjoyable. Floor 3 with the Legos and craft stations was incredible. Definitely many more trips!

The Marvel universe is not there anymore (Jan 2025 update). Discovery is probably the most well known tourist spot in Charlotte downtown, excellent for kids, but for adults more of a visual learning activity. We tried to buy the tickets online for discounted price but it didn’t work. So we bought them at the kiosk for regular price. It spreads over 3 floors. First floor has small aquarium, living things, theater, planetarium stuff. 2nd floor has cool thing about how human body is formed (my favorite section of the place), a walk by through rain forest, and special section for “Becoming Jane”. There’s also several of workshops for kids. 3rd floor is mainly for kids building and designing activities. The place is overall clean. Lots of staff all around to keep things tidy and safe. Cafeteria and gift shop is on first floor across the entrance.

Google
Not bad. Kinda pricey….but for science on the rocks - its worth it. DJ was not the best but it was definitely a good vibe. Drinks were also okay. Not too expensive. The exhibits were definitely somewhat designed for children, which is fine if you still like that as an adult. Don't get the popcorn its way too salty. Budget your time because there are also live shows. Will it glow was boring (sorry) but the fire show was good. IMAX - Journey to Mars was NOT worth the price. Felt like I watched that same show when I was in grade school. (a long time ago lmao) Go for the vibes. Charlotte doesn't have much, but this is a good one time thing. (happens every month)

Yelp
Cool science museum for kids and adults. They have a special exhibition for Jane Goodwell now. Very cool to learn about her journey. The museum has lots hands on activities for kids. Great way for the children to try / touch / experiments on many things. It has many different sections: human body, aquarium, tech world etc. All are easy to follow and informative of the subjects.

Yelp
We visited Discovery Place Science and overall had a fun time. It's definitely an entertaining spot, especially for kids, with plenty of hands-on exhibits and things to explore. That said, it's more of a half-day activity -- you probably don't need the whole day to get through everything. While we enjoyed it, I'm not sure if it's a place we'd return to, at least not right away. Still, it's worth checking out if you're in the area and looking for something fun and educational to do with kids.

Yelp
I had not been to the museum in over a decade. We decided to visit on a day trip to Charlotte. They have lots of signs to find the museum, and the parking deck was convenient. You save money getting tickets online, and on Wednesdays as of July 2025, kids are 5 dollars off. The special exhibit is included in your ticket, which was nice. The staff was nice and offered some fun hands-on activities. We enjoyed the rainforest and human body areas the most. We spent about two and a half hours, which was plenty of time to see all of the exhibits. Next time I want to see an IMAX show.

Yelp
This non-profit educational science center located in uptown area Charlotte, NC, offers all ages with a wide range of activities to engage those at the museum and an IMAX theater too. They have a wide range of interactive exhibits and fascinating displays that bring science to life. Discovery Place kids is oriented for children 0-7. They have a tropical and arctic experience and we also enjoyed the aquarium. General admission is $23.95, children 3-13 is $18.95 and children under 2 are free. Located 2 blocks from the city center and paid parking is nearby.

Yelp
I've been visiting this location since I was a little kid (90s) and always had a great time. They have their main usual exhibits, which are their toddler kids' water play, insects and forest creatures, their aquariums, and rainforest. Upstairs, they have their "cool stuff" exhibit, and when we went, they had a dinosaur exhibition. You can easily spend about 3 hours here actually looking and exploring everything. They do have their Imax theatre, and you can check out their showtime on their website. They have a parking garage where you have to pay for parking. They unfortunately do not validate. Another bad thing in uptown. Other than that, something cool and fun to do for the whole family.

Yelp
So I liked the show, we just went to Mesamerica. Good show but the seats are way too close and for a tall person like me, I was unable to move my legs. I have a bad knee and almost had to get up and leave. If anything they should have a row of handicapped seats. You should just be comfortable when you are sitting for 45
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely love science museums! I'm a kid at heart. I especially was excited about the Dinosaur Exhibit. The entire museum was interactive which is a huge plus in my book! So many animals and information! I would 100% recommend adults and kids to come visit. They also do pop ups of different exhibits. Last time they had a marvel exhibit which I'm so sad I missed.

Yelp
This was such a vibe! I have been meaning to checkout "Adult Night" for quite a while and let me me tell you Discovery Place Science didn't disappoint! We definitely plan to go back again. The exhibits were interactive, and of course, we made a plethora of friends - we do this everywhere we go. :) Highly recommend checking it out if you are into museums. #videosandphotosareworthathousandwords

Yelp
Went for the Marvel after Dark, and thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit. The location of the Discovery Place Science building is awesome. In Uptown, within walking distance of several restaurants, and a parking garage directly across the street, it's a great outing for a date or for the family. The staff was very kind and professional, and patient! I did think that the after dark event would have no children, and I'm sure there are fewer; however, I gained clarity that an after dark event is also ideal for neurodivergence as there are fewer people, and less noise, in general. We really enjoyed this exhibit, and were greatly impressed by the center as a whole, and we look forward to getting a membership! @discoveryplacescience #Marvel

Yelp
Such a fun experience! As a family we love to learn and we learned a lot when we visited Discovery Place. They have a special dinosaur attraction right now that was amazing to see, as well as some interactive exhibits. "Every day is an opportunity to learn."

Yelp
Wonderful museum. Lots of exhibits and fun things for kids and adults to enjoy. Enjoy the iMax and the fun facts about the insects and fish

Yelp
My daughter's class had a field trip there and she wanted me to chaperone so I came with her. This was my first time and my friends who live in Charlotte told me it was really fun (even for adults!) so I was excited to go. First off the place is huge ! And for it to be in downtown, I'm glad they have their own parking deck because parking downtown anywhere gives me anxiety. They have so many different things to look at, interact with, amazing information about the body, dogs, newton's law, etc. I think everything was well put together and clean. There is staff everywhere to assist you as well. I think our favorite part was the "physics" area (I can't remember the name) but they had information about wind control, pulleys, motion. I think if we're in charlotte and have time, this is a great go to spot for our kids.

Yelp
Summary: A wonderful and fun place for kids to play and explore! Pro tip: museum is not too busy during the week int he afternoon. Buying tickets online is convenient and you save a little on the parking garage fee ($3) if you buy that online too. Children under 2 y/o are free. While visiting Charlotte, we stopped by Discover Place Science and what a cool place to be! Brought my daughter here and she had a BLAST! Her favorite was by far the Toddler sensory room with a water table and other sensory play. She spent basically most of her time in there. The mini aquarium area was pretty nice too. She loved the seeing the jellyfish and fish swim. There is also an aquatics room that had live sea creatures to pet and showcase. That was also very fun but my daughter was scared to pet the sea urchin, sea cucumber and others. The whole museum is very kid friendly and my daughter absolutely loved it! There's a mini Cafe where you can buy food and drinks but we just went out for lunch and came back afterwards. As long as you have your wristbands, you're able to go back into the museum. We went on a Monday morning but I say going in the afternoon is better during the week because I didn't account for school field trips so the place was PACKED with kids from when they first opened until about 1pm. We were thinking of only spending a few hours there but ended up staying the entire day from open to closer since my daughter loved it so much. We definitely got our money's worth. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Staff was on a power trip and inconsiderate to my 3 year old. We were waiting for the rest of our group to arrive when my toddler (who is still potty training) had to use the restroom. The staff wouldn't let us use the restroom without tickets. But worse, I started the process of buying tickets and asked if he could go in with my wife while the transaction in the kiosk processed and they insisted it complete before they let us in. I had to fill out name, email, etc. all while my toddler is loudly asking to potty. Disgraceful behavior for a place designed for kids and the staff should be ashamed. Rules are rules though, right?

Yelp
The kids and I go at least once a year. They have 3 floors of hands on science activities in all fields. Truly fun for all ages of kids, teens and adults. Plus it gets changed out and updated often with new displays and exhibits

Tiffany W.

Yelp
They definitely could use an update. It didn't seem like many of the exhibits had many of the creatures featured on the signs, but I will say aside from the few things that were broken or unavailable, the rest of the experience was a lot of fun. I was there solo and was surprised at how much I was able to enjoy. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I have loved Discovery place since I was a child! Visiting as an adult is a game changer!! I recently dropped in to go to science on the rocks for date night with my wife. We had an amazing time and cannot wait to go back again! What's better than science and cocktails combined & interactive science at that?... Nothing. I loved the shows, the animals, the interactive science exhibits and of course the drinks. And I definitely cannot forget the amazing melt in your mouth nitrogen wine slushy samples. They alone are worth going! The food truck parked outside was also very good. Highly recommend as date night!! We had a blast! Now check out the proof!!

Yelp
I was visiting family in Charlotte and was looking for a place to take the kids. I happened upon discovery Place Science, which reminds me of Fort discovery, that used to be in Augusta. They had a number of nice exhibits ranging from rain forest to oceans, and they also had some things that you can do hands on that my children enjoyed. We were there for a little over two hours taking advantage of all exhibits. I myself was intrigued by the microscope. I sat there, looking at every item they had a lot of seashells that you could zoom in and out of to see how they looked under a microscope. I think I had more fun than the children.
google avatar

Yelp
Large space with nice range of exhibits and activities galore! Restrooms located on multiple floors. Staff available but not hovering.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Awesome and super fun for the whole family. My 9 month old loved it and we'll be back for sure. The age range here is fantastic, plenty for infants, toddlers, and children to do!
google avatar

Asha E.

Yelp
I went to an event in the new IMAX theater and it was a nice experience. Be aware that the steps are pretty steep inside so make sure you get those knees strong like Meg Thee Stallion.
google avatar

Vince J.

Yelp
Spent 3 hours but 5 year old could stay 8 hours. This his 3rd time as loves the.many different experiments he can do. Venues change as dinosaurs are coming soon !!!! I reccomend the family membership for a year as pays dividends on a rainy day......ANY DAY.!!! My only wish is parents would supervise thier children better. He waited his turn for 10 minutes only to have 2 kids butt in line. Same kids were throwing little pebbles in air at the venue. Only to rain on themselves & other children. I said let's move to another exhibit. Gift shop at end of the day is a MUST ;)))
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
What a HUGE Museum with SOOOO much to do! My kiddo and I spent two hours here and could've stayed longer but it was so overwhelming. Definitely something we could visit every few months and I could see being entertaining for any age group. The dog exhibit was great too! There till May I believe. Definitely a must go if you're looking for a day adventure.
google avatar

Mateo M.

Yelp
Fantastic place to bring kids to explore everything from the rainforest to engineering. I highly recommend getting the annual pass if you're local, as you can get in an hour earlier, and there is no way you can explore the whole place in one visit. I have been a couple times, and I just discovered the 2nd floor with a building workshop and a massive collection of Lego bricks to just build with, along with interactive exhibits on architecture and design. It's fun for kids, and parents will have a bit of fun as well.
google avatar

Jon L.

Yelp
This is best for children and young people, maybe up to 13 or 14 years old. The best part is the rain forest. You can view from inside the main museum, you can walk out onto a viewing ledge and get an up close look at the forest and the critters inside. We took a 4 year old who really liked the parrots and other birds in the rain forest. You also get a look at a Komodo Dragon which was a real highlight. Most all the other displays are very basic and really not that scientific. For instance the paper cups with tissue on top that rises in the air from air blown inside the tube. The area around it looked like litter, very messy and not scientific. We also liked the fish tanks, especially the ones that actually had fish in them.
google avatar

Blake S.

Yelp
This place is definitely for kids. It was neat. BUT definitely for young kids. HOWEVER, sometimes the movie theater plays movies that are pg-13 or R so we enjoyed watching Deadpool and Wolverine at the end of the day!
google avatar

Joseph M.

Yelp
The place had all kinds of interactive sections for kids. There was a robotics section where my daughter could program and control a robot, a physics section with pulley systems for them to climb on, and aquarium, indoor rainforest with rope bridge, kids area, etc... there was so much stuff here. We spent 2 hours here and could have easily spent another hour at least. This is a great place if you have kids.
google avatar

Jordan B.

Yelp
Discovery Place is a really cool spot for kids and adults alike! Been a couple of times for various exhibits, the zoo/reptile area and the IMAX theater for movies. It's a very spacious, multi-level venue with tons of activities. Most times, adults go in and feel like a big kid! And when I say most adults, I'm referring to myself! LOL! The movie theater is also pretty large as well and when looking up from the bottom, appears very steep! But it's a great time! It's located in Uptown between Tryon and Church Streets. Parking garages are all around or you can score street parking. Staff is very friendly and welcoming! For the kids, or the kid in you, check this place out for a great time!
google avatar

Yelp
We hosted a birthday party at the museum recently and it was a blast! We chose the Ocean Friends theme. We were able to see sea creatures and even touch a few in the tank. I love that parking validation was available for all guest attending the party and the party person of honor received a shirt. The guest loved that they could come before or after the party and enjoy the museum at their leisure. Such a great experience with the staff!
google avatar

Aaliyah T.

Yelp
We came in here as a laugh, but we had a blast and were in here for hours! We enjoyed looking at the animals and learning about the marvel characters. Would definitely recommend for your family.

Yelp
I absolutely love Discovery Place and I have been several times throughout the years, with and without kids. When my nieces and nephews were little, they enjoyed playing in the activity room that has water, puzzle pieces, etc. as they grew, they enjoyed the upstairs scientific exhibit as well as the visiting exhibits. I love watching movies at the IMAX dome theatre here. The screen is huge, and surprisingly, there are plenty of seats. My only complaint is that there's not a ton of leg room. Since I've gone here to see popular releases that typically run 2-3 hours, it's not the most comfortable to have cramped legs. But I do keep coming back so there's that. Actually my other complaint is the small restroom on the theatre level. Two stalls in a ladies room probably wasn't the best thought out design. But alas, 5 stars from me because it's such a great educational and fun place to visit. And prices are reasonable. You can easily spend a full day here.. as you should!!
google avatar

Tameka G.

Yelp
This was a place I wanted to take my children for a while now. It was such a fun experience. They have so much to do and learn about that I'm already looking forward to the next trip. On the first floor we enjoyed the 7 and under play area it has a water play area that seemed to be my 3 year olds favorite. They also had other fun activities for them to enjoy. We also visited the rainforest and aquarium they just loved looking at different sea creatures. On the second floor we visited the Apollo exhibit which was education. They had a lab area that studied the body along with fun activities to lear about the body. We enjoyed a chemistry lesson my children were amazed by the elephant toothpaste. The second floor also has a ton of fun things for children and adults to enjoy. The third floor was more of an area to build things. They were able to make little parachutes that went in an air blowing tube and shot out the top. This place is great and we will be back to visit again. If you bring your parking ticket in you get $4 off the $12 fee.

Yelp
Discovery Place is and always will be AWESOME! I've been going here since I was a child, and now I have the opportunity to take my own kids. I'd give them 5 stars, but we were kind of saddened that we couldn't afford to see the IMAX movies anymore. They have a great admission discount for families that receive SNAP benefits, but not much of a discount for the actual IMAX tickets so we were pretty bummed that we couldn't afford to pay around $30 for our family of 4 to go see a movie. However, if you have the money, the IMAX is unique and a one of a kind experience. Another pricing issue was with the moving exhibit- $20 per PERSON to see super heroes... I didn't see anyone walk into that exhibit for that price. Money aside, GENERAL admission grants you access to the museum portion which includes a children's area (7 years old or younger), a rainforest, a mini aquarium, an area where you can zoom in with microscopes on all sorts of nature-y things like rocks, sand, bugs, bones, shells, etc... and so much more! It's a lot of fun and there's a lot to learn for both adults and children. Our favorite exhibit has always been the bed of nails, because, how cool is that?! If you live in or are visiting the immediate area and haven't visited this museum, it's definitely in my book of top 5's for things to do in Charlotte with kids.

Yelp
Not many people talked about the review for the Marvel Exhibit, so I decided to give a little more detail about this here and what to expect. The science museum is always need for the kids, it has great interactive things throughout the museum. Also the rain forest and aquarium really fun for the kids. We are mainly here for the Marvel exhibition, which runs until the middle of September. Have a really good time on this Marvel Exhibition as Marvel Fan, there lots of costumes from the actual movie displayed, you can have close look at how detail those costumes are. Also it has some comic book displayed as well. There are some interactive things throughout the experience. However, if you have younger children they might found it a little boring because it is just a lot of displays from the movie, I like what I saw as an adult. But just wish it has more for the kids to do. Great time and as always Discovery Place is still nice and clean.
google avatar

Yelp
IDEAL hands-on learning experience for both parents and kids. My husband and i brought our four-month-old to Discovery place this week (ok we enjoyed the science more than she did) and spent four hours enjoying the exhibits. As a parent who appreciates learning opportunities, this place is possibly even more satisfying for us! Lol The amount of time your trip takes is really just dependent on how much time you allocate to reading the information in each exhibit. I always enjoyed science and history, but truth be told -- there was a lot of interesting information to learn here for adults too. The museum as a whole is incredibly diverse. From rooms dedicated to the nervous system, to paleontology, to phytoplankton, there is so much to absorb. Many exhibits have interactive elements, hands-on experiments, and video clips to explain AND make science appealing to children. *Yelper insight* -- make sure to visit during an IMAX showing time! The dome theater is a one of a kind experience for babies to elderly. All in all -- will be taking my kids here as they get older! Great experience.

Yelp
His curiosity is my favorite sight to watch. I'm referring to my nephew as he is in love everytime we come here. That's what you get at Discovery - engaging children absorbing knowlege and interacting with exhibits. I am not going to lie - my family was struggling to find me as I found myself immerse as well. The venue was well maintain from enforcing masks to social distancing so we felt safe in terms of being amongst crowds during this season. There was barely a wait time and their staff was super helpful. There was a restaurant there which had some quick knick knacks but it was all reasonably priced and great options for adults but most so for the kids. Looking forward to revisit in the Spring.

Yelp
Loved this exhibit! It delved into the origin of Marvel and comics!! Discovery Place never disappoints!

Pat M.

Yelp
It's awful big. And it seems to be a lot of blank walls. Some exhibits were closed. I been to a lot of museums types, this isn't my favorite. Really Raleigh doesn't have a lot to offer, but houses, apt and condo. Who planned this place? And the Capital of a beautiful state. Or was when I was born in Charlotte, which should always have been the capital. The small but amazing science museum in Greensboro ROCKS! Been once and can wait to go back!

Yelp
Nice place, it was an unplanned outing. We were in town visiting and wanted to do something my grandson would enjoy. I bought tickets online to include parking. I appreciate the military and online discount. However, the nice & patients young lady who got us all checked in, had to refund and re-ring me up for the discounts because the system is outdated. Come on Discovery, let's get that fixed!! Now what I didn't appreciate and what my grandson was interested in the most was the Marvel Exhibition there at the time of our visit; however, that was an additional $40 on top of the $39.68 entrance fee and $14 for parking. After spending $93.69, there was no way I could afford to purchase anything to eat. IJS thank God I made us some sandwiches, a couple of boxed juices and chips. We didn't it inside but once we got back to the car. It was great time talk about our experiences. The staff was nice, energetic about helping and explaining things to children. There's also a small aquarium inside. I found them to be knowledgeable, it was overall a good time, but an expensive 2-hours of fun.

Giselle A.

Yelp
A lot of great exhibits! My almost 3 year old keeps asking when we're going back to "the museum". Looking forward to visiting again!

Yelp
The seriously sad case of discovery place science. Once upon a time, deep in the heart of the Queen City, laid a sparkling gem, a glorious representation of a cutting edge city, fast on the rise. Now, these mysterious men and women of science have taken on a bold new strategy. Frontage has been replaced by darkened windows, vacant spaces and ill-fortuned vagabonds. If you brave yourself across this graceless Tryon entrance, it will have been for not - for it has been relocated to the rear (not unlike everything else inside), as has the formerly impressive gift shop. The new makeshift front desk (around back) leads you to a new makeshift gift shop. Neither retain any semblance of their predecessors quality of wonderment. Most disastrously, the depressing gift store area takes the place of what was once a happy and spacious cafeteria. If you've ever spent a day a discovery place, you'll understand the importance it's relief played. Alright so you've gotten through the door. Congratulations. From here it's about treading water. The main floor exhibits are generally nonfunctional - there always seem to be one or two things out of order - or have been reduced to a minimum - the jungle habit area has hardly enough on hand for a hut, let alone anything interesting. Many of the activity areas in the small children's room have been discontinued or downgraded. The water area has been stripped of most of its function. Just another bleak reminder: it ain't what it usedta be, kids. If you'd ventured to the top floor of this science-centric building pre-pandemic, you would have found a creative arts & crafts area. Now, strap on them thinkin' caps, folks, cause it's gonna take every cell in those brains to create anything from the remaining supplies. I'm unfortunately not joking here - pieces of cut up t-shirts, pieces of cut up packing boxes, and old brochures. That's what you're working with. I could perhaps go on - shortcuts and trimmings proudly adorned every corner - but what's the use. Might as well cut this short too. Such is the world we live in - where quality holds no relation to the return on investment of the American dollar. I hate, HATE, strongly dislike leaving such a review as this. But jeez it might be just about time to start holding those that accept our money accountable. This place meant so much to me growing up and has been such a valuable place to bring my children up until recently. It contains within those walls the ability to be a magical place once again.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time with this beautiful educational discovery center. Fun for people of all ages. Great for younger kids. Beautiful aquarium, bird, sanctuary, arts and craft center, and lovely IMAX theater.

Yelp
Discovery place is a great place to take kids with an inquisitive mind. There are numerous STEM focused exhibits and activities that explain things like Magnetisms, Friction, Hydraulics and Electricity to name a few. There are also aquarium and live insect/reptile displays. There are different admission packages and we opted for the museum+bug area. I really enjoyed the interactive areas and all the accompanying facts and explanations. Overall a great place to pass a few hours with your young ones.

Yelp
My new favorite science museum. I flew here a few weeks ago and then decided to bring my family back this weekend. Where do I start? 1. Aquarium- cute little aquarium with a playful octopus. The cutest blowfish but remember they're dangerous! 2. Kids center- we spent most of the time in here; my 4 year old loved it. There's a water play area that kept him busy for an hour. 3. Rainforest- loved the employee who brings the animals out. 4. IMAX- I watched both Super Dogs and Cuba. Both were great movies and seats were comfortable. 5. Cuba exhibit- Really enjoyed this exhibit. Cute gift shop where I bought coffee from Cuba. There was so much more but if you get a chance please visit.

Yelp
The Madalorian has a catch phrase that says THIS IS THE WAY. From everyone from ages two to eighty two the Discovery science place in downtown Charlotte North Carolina "This is the way". 'This the way" to have family fun and make great everlasting memories. "This is the way" to learn more about science but in a fun interactive way. So many fun activities for the children to enjoy. They have their own parking garage so there is no parking issues. Fascinating, educational, interesting, iterative are the words I would use to discribe this awesome place. Anyway God bless all my fellow Yelpers always

Yelp
Took our younger kiddos here after we found out we have reciprocity here through our hometown children's museum. We actually got in free -- yay! There are many and varied museum exhibits, with lots of hands on activities. I'd say the museum skews older elementary/middle school. Our kindergartner had fun, but a lot of things went over his head. You can bring in your own food, but we found it hard to find a place for eating -- just a handful of tables on the first floor, as far as we could tell. A number of exhibits were under reconstruction, but there were still so many left that it didn't really matter. If you're visiting in the summer, just know the place is overrun with kids' summer camps. It's was pretty chaotic in exhibits while those groups were present. We were happy with this museum. Definitely check to see if you can get in for free if you already have a kids' museum membership somewhere else!

Yelp
We spent the day here and it was amazing! I took my tweens and I wasn't nervous they would be too old, but they loved the exhibits, especially the second floor. It was so much fun. Highly recommend!
