Spent 2 nights in an unpowered camp site . This is my 3rd visit to the Wilpena campground and will be my last . My first visit was 25 years ago and it does not seem that the the showers and toilets have been upgraded in that time . The cleanliness of the facilities leaves a lot to be desired. No drinking water was available in the facilities. The IGA provided 10 litres free. The showers were not very hot . All for $40 pn (included park entrance fee) The staff at reception vary in their warmth and welcome . When we booked in the person was unwelcoming, rude and barely gave us or the person before us the time of day .Another day the person was full of helpful info. I have visited many NP in SA and beyond and this is probably the worst . When I return I will stay elsewhere. There are many stations and all those I have stayed at are far better .

No hot showers. Amenities were not really clean, showers would need a good clean/refreshing, I had to clean microwave in the camp kitchen before using it. They have a so called emergency number but they call you back 2 hours later...not really a good service for an emergency number...Plus if you have to make a complaint, the manager doesn't come to you at the welcoming desk, you have to go to the resort reception (400m down the road), that's a bit of a shame. Got a refund for this bad experience . Apart from that lots of space, they give you 10 litre of drinkable water and hopefully, people at welcoming desk were lovely.

We stayed in the Safari "Tents". It's a gorgeous place to stay - away from the "crowd" and with fantastic outlook. They're very comfortable - the bed is excellent and the bathroom nice. It's really only a "tent" because it has a couple of canvas walls and roof :) Of course, the air can get cold at night but the heating is adequate and the bedding cozy. The park/resort itself is in a lovely setting and has good facilities. The maintenance is not "squeaky clean" - this or that might need some TLC, but it's a bush setting after all, and it is oveall comfortable and good. The resort restaurant is a suprise. Although it looks like "caters for coaches" and is "outback", the food is fantastic! They clearly have a chef/kitchen that knows what they are doing and takes pride in it. Of course it is not "cheap", but on the other hand I've had far worse at higher prices closer to civilisation. I totally was not expecting decent coffee and a great meal out here!

Rooms are excellent. Enough space and spotlessly clean. All staff friendly and helpful. But the best thing after eating in cafes and pubs that can only manage deep fried schnitties and goon bag salads is the restaurant. Your not paying food court prices but you do get a lovely choice of meals well prepared, well cooked and delightful to eat. Despite the remote location the meals and drinks are more than reasonable. The scenery, walks and drives are fantastic do your own homework on that the resort is a great base.

Beautiful place to visit. Have some amazing walks for all ages/fitness level. Stayed in caravan park. Facilities were okay but as it is mainly dirt and had rained overnight, the shower change room floors would get dirty quickly. The restaurant had some amazing food. Would love to go back to explore further. Climbing St Mary’s Peak is quite a challenge (18+kms return) but well worth the effort as you feel like you are on the top of the world. Great views of the Pound. They suggest writing your names, where you are walking to and when you expect to return in a book at the trail head. Not sure this is monitored so ring/msg family with details as there is little/no mobile coverage on some of the trails.

We stayed in glaming tent, which was very comfortable. The restaurant offered a very good breakfast & dinner excellent menu at reasonable cost. Food was fresh, well presented & delicious ( except egg plant ... under cooked & bitter). Something for everybody on the alcohol list. Staff able to advise re hiking. All staff helpful, friendly & went the extra mile. We had a great stay. 100% recommend

Staff were generally friendly and willing to help, and we enjoyed the bushwalking trails. But that’s where the positives end. The worst part was the restaurant. It was highly overpriced for stringy, tough steaks and greasy potatoes—and there was no table service. The biggest issue: we found insects in our food. One was cooked and lodged between slices of meat; the other was alive and crawling inside a salad. It was a truly distressing experience, although the staff did try to rectify the situation. As for the room: Booking.com stated that the Deluxe Room had a bathtub, but upon arrival, we were told no rooms had one. There’s no internet in the rooms—only in public areas—and the connection was quite weak. Room cleanliness could have been better, especially for the premium price. The queen bed was firmer than the single beds, and a noisy fridge was oddly placed between the two singles, making them inconvenient to use. The shower also lacked consistent hot water, though thankfully the weather was warm. Our Deluxe Room was adjoined to another by an internal door, and the poor soundproofing made it easy to hear our neighbors. Overall, aside from its location in the national park and the access to bushwalking trails, our experience was deeply disappointing and far below expectations.

Stayed at Discovery Parks Campground. |Great location inside Ikara NP but the camping amenities are poor. |The bathrooms were dirty, with paint peeling off the walls and very smelly. |There were ample electric BBQs, but nothing available to clean them, hence many were unusable. |The camp kitchen was clean but tiny for the size of the campground. A single fridge was chockablock full, and the power went out one day while we were there. There was also a pungent septic tank smell around the kitchen. |Fire places near many of the camp sites was a nice touch. Bring your own firewood. |Close to trailhead for many varied walks. Need a lot of water as it’s hot and dry (in April).
