Disk Union’s Shinjuku Record Store is a landmark for Tokyo’s music lovers, occupying a distinctive corner building in Shinjuku. Its angular, multi-floor layout makes it hard to miss, with bold red signage and windows packed with vinyl displays. Inside, each floor is genre-dedicated—jazz, rock, punk, soul, and Japanese pressings—all meticulously organized. The atmosphere is intense but welcoming, with knowledgeable staff and constant turnover of rare and collectible records. It’s both a crate-digger’s paradise and a collector’s haven. Whether you’re hunting obscure imports or classics in pristine condition, this store feels like a curated museum of analog music culture.
This is advertised as a four floor building but every time I go to 2F, I always tend to stay there. I believe this is their flagship location. The QR code will take you to video footage that includes every Disk Union site in Shinjuku. Apologies for the 720p footage but those are the restrictions set by Google. Used albums on the first floor and movies and books and heavy metal records on the second floor.
