Disk Union Shibuya Jazz Rare Groove CD Record Store

Great record store with different genres on each level chocked full of eclectic and beautiful condition recycled records. Each store has dedicated and knowledgeable teams to provide excellent service and they are constantly restocking the shelves. Look out for the colour coded daily specials and always dig the recently arrived crates! The prices are accurate and the stores are curated to bring the best selection to the serious collectors that frequent the store. Can’t wait to return.

Had a lot of Jazz and western hip hop music. If you’re looking for a wide variety of genres or some interesting finds, I didn’t find a ton of it here. Cool atmosphere though.

Visited most of the records shops in Tokyo looking for classic Hip Hop records and this one was my last stop. Found 7 records sitting in my discogs wishlist for ages. Kudos to them !!

Nice collection of vinyls. Like most Japanese vinyl shops the conditions are very good.

The soul section is fine, but the jazz section seems to have loads of records, if that’s what you’re going after.

Disk Union is incredible. And the Shibuya store may be my fave of all their other stores throughout Tokyo. My place to go to find vintage British 60s music.

A great place to spend some time, and indicative of used record stores in Japan in general - good quality stock, reasonably priced with a good range. There are a number of floors with different styles: rock & punk, rap and R&B, rock & pop international and local, and a rare groove floor in the basement. You'll definitely need a bit of time to go through everything, particularly if you have wide tastes. One thing to bear in mind is that you'll have to pay for your purchases on each floor, which isn't 100% clear. There is a good range of stuff on offer, and there is enough good stuff there at decent prices, so you can quite easily eat into your Discogs wishlist, and your holiday spending budget. All of my purchases have looked to be in good condition, and most came with a plastic outer sleeve and a decent static free inner. Having all of the floors means that it's maybe not as easy to navigate than it's sister shop at Shimo-Kitazawa, but with Reco Fan so close by it's a good place to go for a 1-2 visit if you're only wanting to hit a couple of stores.

I stopped by Disk Union on my recent trip to Japan. All I can say is this is a record collector's paradise... you're bound to find what it is you're looking for and it will be reasonably priced as well. I actually needed to buy another suit case to bring back the goodies I found here. :)

Pretty impressive 5 story record store. An eclectic mix of new and used records across many genres, all sorted by floor. You could spend hours in here just browsing for a hidden gem or standing in awe of some of the records hanging on the wall. Many rare Japanese pressings and some interesting bootleg imports. Price wise, it's a bit too expensive to justify buying anything and hauling it back to the states, but you might find a rarity that you just gotta have.

Went downstairs for jazz and soul. Found some cool first pressing here. Solid back stock. Decent prices. A little cramped down there for sure. But that adds to the fun. Check this one out, worth digging around for sure.

Excellent record store in the hub of Tokyo's Shibuya district. They have a ton of CDs too, but I spent most of my time digging through their excellent collection of vinyl. They had pretty specific categories (I appreciated the New Wave and Power Pop ones especially), as well as a sizable Beatles selection organized by country and year. I left with a bag full of records and a huge smile!!

I can't imagine walking into this store and not leaving with a least an armful of records. Both times I've been here I found a few records that I just had to have, despite the very high price tag. But for the most part, I've found a lot of the records to be reasonably priced based on how hard they are to find. You'll see plenty of titles here that would never be on a shelf in the US. And you're on holiday, so splurge!

This place was awesome. Great selection! Especially rock LPs. Not only Japanese pressings but German, Brazil etc. Fairly priced and it excellent condition. Will definitely be back on next trip.
