Distillerie Damoiseau

We went on the tour as English speakers, I think the guides name was Roman, he explained the production and much of the history perfectly in french and English very entertaining. (he is in the photos apologies if I wrote the name wrong) The tour was so interesting, and informative. I highly recommend. for all nationalities. We have visited other tours on Basse Terre, and very good for sampling less information on production and history. Thank you to all the staff at Damoiseau all the staff met where so helpful and polite and forgave my little french. Thank you all for a wonderful experience. Definitely go.

Romain is an excellent guide, but the best tour guide in the world was definitely the wonderful white dog. Please give the dog a tip — preferably in the form of some good meat ✌🏻

Damoiseau is a rhum agricole distillery located in Le Moule, Guadeloupe. It is one of five distilleries in the Guadeloupe archipelago, and the only one in the Grande-Terre region. It has roots back to the 19th century and was originally founded as an agricultural estate. Damoiseau is the leading rum producer in Guadeloupe, producing more than 8 million litres per year and exported to more than 40 countries worldwide. Damoiseau rhums are produced from sugar cane that is harvested and crushed on the same day before fermenting for 24–36 hours. It is distilled in a continuous column still to between 86% and 88% alcohol, and then aged in charred oak barrels previously used for aging bourbon. After aging for six months or more than six years, the rum is diluted with local spring water to a consistent commercial proof and bottled. In 2011, Damoiseau opened a bottling and storage facility near Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport in Les Abymes, Pointe-à-Pitre that is capable of storing up to 5 million bottles.

Simple free visit with few posters to read, this is not a vosit with a guide. Great art on the outside of the factory. Great shop with large choice of merchandise and Rhum to purchase Good quality rhum.

Interesting and nice tasting but lacks a bit of theatre around production and history. Good for a quick visit and to buy some lovely rum!

Really enjoyed our visit here as arrived just before closing so had the place to ourselves. Staff were lovely, grounds pretty and the rum was delicious 😋

Unbelievable experience . Discrimination and hateful treatment given to us at this distillery. We were at the tasting area and had 1 tasting of the white rum. The other people near us were French and received the next 2 tastings . The young man found out we were Americans and told us we needed to buy rum if we wanted to taste the dark one. Just a horrible experience. I will spread this on Facebook and everywhere I can.
