The big reason for this being there are 10 different distilleries spread across Martinique’s 425 square miles! TEN! Two of the best are Distillerie Neisson and Plantations Saint James Martinique. All of them produce what's called rhum agricole, but all you need to know is Martinique rums are the only rums in the world that have been granted the prestigious Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) designation. Awarded by the French government agency Institut National des Appellations d’Origine (INAO) in recognition of the finest agricultural products (wines, cheeses, butters, etc), the AOC designation is an incomparable stamp of excellence in the culinary and spirits world."

Good visit, not guided but the panels around the site a very clear with their explanation of each step. Compared to other distilleries the site and production process seems very well kept and clean. Excellent range to taste in the shop. Excellent rhums...

This distillery was my first top of my 3 day adventure in Martinique. It is a hidden gem, but it was easy to navigate to. Coming from the cruise ship terminal to Neisson distillery was quite the drive, but it was beautiful. Speaking of driving, you must drive standard here, all the curves and mountains make it super fun. The tour was exciting, they offer tours in both French and English, but have fluent linguistic employees that may also do it in Spanish and other languages. Because of the fruits, rum barrels, and plantations in the area, the outdoors here smells super nice. This is a great stop, and a great distillery to visit if it will be the first distillery in the area you wish to visit.

Visit is really well explained, we had a really good explanation in English with the amazing staff Cursty she is well knowlege about the rhum, she know her stuff and made us taste and explain everything perfectly. If you speak only English Make sure to ask to come when she’s here she made the experience 10/10.
