We accidentally ended up in the wrong museum; there are two other Ditsong museums right around the corner. I actually wanted to go to the Natural Science Museum, but instead found myself stuck among spear-throwing dioramas, dusty glass display cases, and a darkroom for abandoned exhibitions. The contents and exhibits weren't bad at all. Hunting techniques, everyday objects, colonial kitsch. Unfortunately, they were barely visible because the lighting apparently came from the same budget as the last museum renovation promises. The photography exhibition by a brilliant artist was treated so poorly that you needed a flashlight to even make out contours. Highlight: products from the apartheid era. Nicely presented in photo frames. In ZA, there was hardly any domestic production; almost everything was imported. The museum was culturally educational, but rather tragic in terms of museums.

Beautiful museum Bit old, and smelly 😂 but that’s just museums Some maintenance could be done to fix buttons, lifts etc. Overall very informative

First time in Pretoria, and a bit sad to see our cultural history not better taken care of. The building is decrepid with bird shit all over the atrium. The exhibits themselves are really really interesting, but the lighting is so poor one can barely see anything. It was really sad to see the photographic exhibition not even properly lit. Please do better!

This museum has so much to offer, yet it is unfortunately falling into decay through neglect and lack of love for the heritage it could inspire… lights in displays not working, no visitors, dark and dirty corners…visitors book full of graffiti…

Highly educational exhibitions are on show and are regularly changed. In addition, one can rent the venue for functions. Beautiful lighting and there is a professional events company ensuring smooth running of functions. Good for the whole family and school visits. Wheelchair-friendly main entrance and facilities.

What a museum to be at! Rich with traditional history and archives. One part I liked the most was the remake of Marabastad and how it was depicted. I loved the history of media and the South African orders as displayed. I'm so looking forward to visiting there once more or maybe visit the Nature museum first before making a return? I'll see...

Didn’t get to see much of the inside as it was closed on the weekend. But there is an outside garden where you can walk. I feel like this place has so much more potential but is not being maintained well
