Sammy Marks is technically a bit outside central Pretoria, but it’s a favourite. The house is almost frozen in time, with original furniture, décor and personal items still in place. A guided tour gives you all the stories about the family and the business side, and it turns into a nice mix of gossip and history.
The grounds are also pretty – large lawns, trees, and a very “old estate” feel. We did the tour and then sat outside with something to drink, and it felt like we’d gone much further out into the countryside than we actually had.
