Google
Absolutely amazing food, my only complaint is that everything on the menu sounded so good, it was nearly impossible to decide what I wanted to eat. The wait staff was friendly, informative, and accommodating. The cocktails were fresh, delicious, and affordable. It was an all-around fantastic experience. Bartenders were very knowledgeable and the beer menu was incredible. I cannot wait to go back.

I was surprised that me and my friends popped in here late night and the service was super quick and the staff was nice even for the place to be packed. The fried crab balls taste like heaven and I didn't want to share with my friends but I did. Next time I go, I'm ordering it for myself. However we sent the crab dip back because it didn't taste as good. The crab balls set the bar way too high. But the staff understood and took it off the bill. Also the stacked Mac tastes like comfort food heaven. The drink specials are cheap, the food is quality and the vibe very much gives Pittsburgh bar.

Google
Surprised by this random find, which turned out to be a hidden treasure. Our server Paul was exceptionally cordial and extremely knowledgeable about menu items, which was greatly appreciated. The humus platter was plentiful and scrumptious. But our ultimate pleasure was in the hanger steak & gouda risotto. Definitely would go back! The desert was good but not great (rasberry/lemon cake; we'll have to try a different one next time).

Google
REALLY great cocktails with food that is just as good. Attentive service that's never pushy. Could use an interior update but this is definitely one if my favorite places where I can't decide on what to eat or drink because everything is SO good. Ahi Tuna Bites are probably my absolute favorite thing to get there.

Google
Favorite place to go for happy hour and food all day long in the Southside. Black and blue burger is CHEF’S KISS. The staff is fun to talk to and always friendly. Happy hour is ACTUALLY good prices and good selection unlike other places.. and it’s all week!!

My girlfriend and I went out for lunch and she received a sandwich with hair in it, thankfully catching it before she took a bite… however when we told the (mustache) waiter about it he seemed to take care of the situation just to come back and claim no one in the kitchen has long black hair even after he seen the hair imbedded in the melted cheese. Then he proceeds to give us the check and when asked about a discount for having to wait and share meals with one another due to having to remake the sandwich he says “This was a whole new sandwich” and say he will discount the meal for us. Shortly after he comes back and says he took off the extra charge for the 50cent ranch dressing. O Gee Thanks!

Google
Service was great, Lauren was the best. The flank steak risotto was delicious. Their happy hour is great covers beer wine liquor and appetizers. I'll definitely be back. A mac and cheese was good with the calamari and fried pickles. Parking wasn't bad. And I wasn't crowded or hard to get a table

Got into town for the game and a weekend with friends on Wednesday evening and decided to walk over from our Airbnb for a quick bite. The place is spotless and the vibe was chill with some locals hanging out. The bartender and server who were working that night were friendly and attentive. We sat at the bar and had a couple of beers. Great selection of local and craft beers along with the usual staple of big boy names. The beer was cold and when the bartender stepped away for a second the server slid right on to refill our empty glasses. We started with some pizza logs and they were delicious. I grew up in NW PA and this seems to be a staple bar food and I wish this was the case in Charlotte. The mozzarella they used was phenomenal. These didn’t stand a chance. I went with the Gouda bacon burger with mac and cheese as my side. The burger was cooked to perfection and quite delicious, and the mac and cheese was creamy and tasty. Burgers are cooked to temp here which is always a plus.

Yelp
Amazing. We loved the vibe and atmosphere from the second we walked in. Everything came out fresh and tasted amazing! Have gone back for a second time and will be going back many more.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I have to be a negative reviewer because on the night my friends and I came here, the food was pretty bland. The potato Croquestas are not it. The risotto was very bland the meats are very dry. The food maybe after they have served you a couple of shots. Service was good, our server came by to check up on us a couple of times. It's pretty loud here, but its a bar..

Yelp
Came for dinner and had a great experience. Our waitress Jodie, was super friendly and helpful. I ordered the stacked mac for my dinner and she said it was one of her favorites and recommended I switch the buffalo sauce on the chicken to a honey bbq and it was a great choice. My only complaint was it came with a lot of mac and cheese and only 3 kinda small chicken pieces but it was still plenty of food to fill me up. Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying some other dishes.

Yelp
Went to brunch to celebrate a 21st bday. . The food was good and the service was great. The waitress was very friendly and fun. Will definitely return on my next trip.

Yelp
I can't believe this place isn't busier on weekdays than it had been while we visit. We have classes in the SS weekly. We have a 45 minute break between them. Dive is perfect to grab dinner. They're fast and friendly. The restaurant is decorated modern, it's sleek & smart and it's easy to get around.

Yelp
The food was very good, amazing portions and prices. It's just classic American bar food but they have a ton of options so all type of eaters can find something here. The Greek salad was really good, I'm usually picky with my salads when I'm ordering out because it's usually a half assed salad but this one was really great. The service was very slow but there was only two workers during dinner rush. The vibe was a typical casual bar. The drinks were alright not amazing.

Yelp
Great location in the heart of East Carson street. Good selection of beers on tap and has your typical bar food that you'd expect. I had the poutine fries and a sour melon cider and it was great. Service was also great, maybe even too good. Our waiter was very attentive and always checked in on us. Good time here

Yelp
This is such an underrated restaurant in South Side! I've never heard of this place before and stumbled upon it in my search for restaurants in South Side. The food menu is quite big and is sure to have something for everyone. They do not take reservations but my group of 5 had no issues getting seated right away on a Friday night. I tried the ahi tuna wrap and the detox retox cocktail. Both were delicious! The wrap was way more flavorful than i expected and the sweet potato tots I got on the side with it were phenomenal. Everyone in my group loved what they got as well and we were all quite impressed with this place. Definitely will be coming back again!
google avatar

Aditi S.

Yelp
Great for dinner with friends. Lots of seating, we didn't need a reservation for Friday evening even though we were a party of 5. Service was good throughout. I got a Amaro-rita, which was great and just tasted like a margarita. For food, I got the Thai chicken wrap with fries and it was delicious! Perfect portion sizes and everything came out promptly. The menu is big so can't wait to come back to try something else!

Yelp
Came to eat with my boyfriend after a Steelers game, atmosphere was great. We ordered the chicken poppers (tossed in honey sriracha) and mini mozz for appetizers. For main meal I had the chicken club with traditional fries and my boyfriend had the home wrecker with tots, everything was AMAZING. Service was also great, waiter was very attentive. I'd definitely return.

Yelp
Stopped in yesterday intending to grab some lunch but our waiter (Kevin I think is his name) gave us the brunch menu too. We ended up both ordering brunch and WOW. I had the hangover sandwich and my husband had the corned beef hash bowl and everything was made perfectly. Kevin was the perfect kind of attentive where it's not annoying but you have everything you want and your drink is never empty. Won't hesitate to stop back.

Robby M.

Yelp
They're not open when they say they should be. Spent 20 min finding a parking spot. Paid for 1.5 parking only to walk in and they say sorry we're not open. Hours on the website say 11:00am on Monday, we arrived at 11:30am.
google avatar

Katelin D.

Yelp
Dive Bar and Grille in Southside is one of my neighborhood go to's. Service is quick and food is consistent. I usually get the Thai chicken wrap or ahi tuna wrap, both great options! My last time in I started and got a chicken sandwich. It was huge & messy to eat! I enjoyed it but not much can beat the ahi tuna wrap. I do feel like the tator tot portions are skimpy when they are subbed for a side.

Yelp
Went here for a rehearsal dinner. Upstairs bar: lots of steps be careful!! Wings and chicken parm were great, people didn't really eat the brocolli and I thought the salad and vinaigrette were great but others didn't seem to want salad. Pasta was overcooked but the sauce was good. The artichoke dip was good but heavy. No one ate much of the hummos. Not a lot of service, the bartender was left alone upstairs to handle everything. We were gone by 9:30 but could have stayed longer. Food was take-away after 9 because we were clearing out. I think this place is probably hit or miss, based on the reviews, and I used to live near their original location in Lawrenceville. While nothing special, they did make some good wings.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
I kind of have a mixed opinion about this place. The food isn't bad, but I wouldn't consider it great either. I think they butter up their bread way too much for the sandwiches. It makes the sandwich kind of greasy, which isn't something I enjoy. I know others may though! So if you do, I would definitely recommend the sandwiches. They do have amazing sweet potato tater tots though. They serve them with a cinnamon butter that is fantastic too. I'd probably go back to eat them and just have beer.
google avatar

Nikelle E.

Yelp
Went to Dive Bar for the first time this past weekend. Have mixed reviews. When we walked in it took close to five minutes for somebody to acknowledge us even though there was a waitress chatting up a storm right next to us. Music was a tad too loud and intense for dinner time. All that aside, out waitress was very nice and food was delicious. I got the Alabama slammer burger I believe it was called and would get it again. I'd be willing to go back and try Dive Bar in the future.

Olivia B.

Yelp
Thai chicken wrap was very good and so was the sucker punch drink, would definitely come back again for both!

S J.

Yelp
Dive bar has some of the best food and a very large menu to choose from. I've ordered many different items and i've never had something i didn't like.
google avatar

Yelp
I have frequented this establish many times. This was the only time I was disappointed in my meal. I ordered the Pittsburgh Cheesesteak and the waitress stated that it was an excellent choice! It made me excited for my meal! When my meal arrived, it looked great and everything I expected. However, upon first bite, I had to gnaw through the meat. There was gristle is just about every other bite and I ended up ripping apart my sandwich to remove the unwanted fat so I was not spitting it out. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. Their seasonal cocktails were subpar with one person leaving most of his drink on the table upon leaving. On the plus side, their sweet potato tots with the cinnamon butter was excellent!

Yelp
Came for happy hour a few times and the deals are good! It is Monday - Friday 5-7pm and they also have late night happy hour on Saturday and Sunday from 9-11pm! The deals are $6 select apps, $5 house wines, $4 Stoli vodka & flavors and $2 off drafts. The menu is big with a lot of options for food and drinks. I was surprised that they had a cocktail menu, only because their name is Dive Bar. We loved the general tso's cauliflower!
google avatar

Angela K.

Yelp
First time here and I must say I really enjoyed this spot ! I had a couple of the fatheads beers, as well as the ahi tuna bites and Panko shrimp - all delicious ! There were so many other items on the menu that looked so good , I can't wait to come back and try them out . It was a Thursday night and they were pretty busy. Our waitress was super nice and attentive , she held down her busy section pretty well. My friend and I had a high top table beside the bar, and though it was super small , it was sufficient enough for some app plates and a couple of glasses. I plan on coming back soon!
google avatar

Paige C.

Yelp
I went here the others day with my dad this was the only restaurant we could find on Carson street that was open on Monday! I ordered the general Tsos cauliflower and a order of fries. The cauliflower dish was so good! I loved it. I haven't ate here in a while and it seemed that they have since changed up their menu. I was very pleased with my dinner. I've recently became a vegetarian so I was unsure if they were going to have many options here for me but I was surprised to see they had quite a few.

Chris C.

Yelp
Always a good dining experience, great food and service, comfortable, casual and a good beer selection.

Yelp
I have visited Dive for the food and always had a good time. This review is for the outstanding social responsibility the restaurant has demonstrated through the recent Thanksgiving holiday. Dive partnered with several other organizations to make and donate over 350 Thanksgiving meals to seniors in Pittsburgh who were alone for the holiday. The pandemic climate has thrown most norms for a loop this year, and I can only imagine the challenge our seniors are facing as they extend their social distancing and quarantine precautions through the holiday season. I felt so lucky to have had the opportunity to volunteer alongside the Dive employees and others to make this happen, and that we were able to get it all done while staying safe. My reviews typically focus largely on the food, but I believe acts like this warrant recognition. This year has been hard on everyone, and restaurants have taken a particularly tragic hit. It must have taken a lot of scarce resources to prepare all of these meals and facilitate their donation to seniors. I would recommend Dive to anyone looking for some good takeout! You can get a great meal and feel good about supporting such a worthy business.

Yelp
Got brunch last weekend. The breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, capicola (I think it was?) and the aioli was soooo good! The hash browns were tasty but I would've liked them crispier. My husband got the breakfast burrito with chorizo and it was amazing

Yelp
Recommend going here during happy hour during 5-7pm Monday- Friday, cocktails are 7 bucks and the wine is 4! Appetizers were around 5 dollars each. As far as wings, they were about 7/10, a bit on the crunchier side than I preferred Highly recommend the NACHOS, worth every dollar Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Time to get food: 12 minutes
google avatar

Yelp
What's for lunch ? (Monday: February 15, 2021) I got off of work early & thought... why not! Turkey Gouda melt with fries. The sandwich is sizable. The sandwich is made up of shaved turkey breast, bacon, smoked gouda, sautéed shrooms, lettuce, tomato & sundried tomato aioli. Yum The fries are not crispy enough for me. I even asked for crispy fries. They were hot & fresh. Sometimes it beez like that! I have a few places that I frequent who do not produce crispy fries. This is one of them. So, I don't waste my time eating them. ‍ Bon appétit

Yelp
What a South Side gem. I have gone for both brunch and dinner and have always left satisfied. The service is fast and pleasant (both bar and dining). The inside is clean and has a nice atmosphere. They have a good drink/beer selection and carry my person favorite Sour Monkey. I usually get the Thai chicken wrap with sweet potato tots that come with a delicious and warm brown sugar butter for dipping. The nachos and mozzarella logs are solid appetizers. Absolutely recommend!

Yelp
I would not expect a place named Dive Bar to have excellent food - boy was I wrong! We went for happy hour and while it was super busy and full of people it wasn't overly crowded with people jostling you and spilling your drinks (which I hate). They had tables where you could eat or hang out at the bar area -which had a couple of tables too so you could eat there too. The friendly waitress came over and told us their HH specials and came over with menus. We got our drinks and food order (she had great recommendations for us first timers) and they came quickly. Presentation was beautiful - food was tasty and service was great! Really enjoyed the Reuben rolls and the bacon wrapped dates! Enjoyed our time here and will be back :-)

Yelp
I have been to dive bar a handful of times now. This bar restaurant is clean and modern. The decor is nothing fancy but it's pretty comfortable. A friend and I just discovered that on Monday nights their special is half of burgers (with a purchase of an alcoholic or nonalcoholic drink). They have a great selection of burgers so we were excited for the deal. Their menu is huge so it can be a little overwhelming to try to decide what you want. They also have a great happy hour-half of appetizers! The staff is pretty friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some decent food and a drink. However, if you are just looking for an affordable drink there's a lot of other options on this street.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Food was good bar food, nothing special or outstanding. Prices were fair for what you got. Definitely would recommend going for their HH specials.

Yelp
LOVEEEEEE it here! they always give me mashed potatoes even thought they're not on the menu MWAH :* love u guys thanks for the constant stream of potatoes. also the pretzel chocolate martini is HITTIN! order one immediately

Yelp
I was kind of excited to come here since I've never been. Have to be honest and say it was our 4-5th place to go because everything closed at 10 on this particular evening. Went in nice place, looked like a good menu, beers were good. Now the service and food a totally different story! Meals came out before the silverware and napkins...even after asking at least 3 times. Wasn't busy so shouldn't have been any confusion. Couldn't get a water if you were on fire, asked twice and had to go to bar since server forgot. Asked for sliders extra well done - came out as a chopped up patty (not sliders) medium well. Didn't eat them..server never asked if things were ok. Kept disappearing to who knows where. French fries were decent, wings seemed ok (friends got them). But had to ask for sauce 2-3 times. Missing the mark here on service mostly. Food not worth the lack in service.

Yelp
I recently revisited Dive Bar and Grille! Overall, I had a really great time. They have excellent happy hour specials. We ordered the nachos with chicken. The nachos were really delicious, but I wish that there had been a little more toppings/cheese sauce. They come with a bean dip, which was good and unique, but I also enjoy some guacamole or pico with nachos. For my meal, I ordered the Gouda Turkey melt. It was SO good and I really recommend. The bread was delicious and perfectly toasted. My friend ordered the chicken Caesar wrap. Like the nachos, she wished maybe there was a bit more dressing in the wrap, as she found it a little dry. The service was excellent and I look forward to returning again!

Yelp
My son, Luke and my nephew,Derek, treated my sister Sylvia, my nephew's girlfriend Tiffany, and myself to a FABULOUS late night dinner at this awesome restaurant! Yummy yummy yummy It was my first time here and I enjoyed it very much !!! The server were great and very friendly! I hope to go there again!

Yelp
I had high hopes for this restaurant since they have 4/5 stars but unfortunately i was served raw shrimp & raw breading along with a dirty cup of water there was a lemon seed at the bottom of my water that I had began drinking out of. Needless to say I won't be returning.

Yelp
I ordered delivery on a Sunday night. The food came earlier than predicted which is always a good thing. I got the bar wings with Honey Sriracha sauce, fries, and asian slaw. It was $11.50 for 10 wings, which is decent, and I read the happy hour price is even better. There wasn't that much sauce, and the wings weren't well-coated. It felt like the wings were placed in the box, sauce dumped on top, and the delivery guy was in charge of getting the sauce distributed during delivery. The fries were mainly just a bunch of edge slivers containing skin. The slaw was pretty heavy, and almost a little too greasy for my taste. However, the cabbage/carrots were fresh. I saw a trend with in-restaurant meal reviews being yummier, so this place is probably not the best for delivery. I'd definitely give this place a try in-person next time during a happy hour.
google avatar

Yelp
I love their Bloody Marys!! The pretzel sticks and Reuben were amazing as well. Great staff 5/5!
google avatar

Kaylee L.

Yelp
YUM!! I've come here a few times and always order something different. There are so many options it's hard to go wrong. Today I went in for a quick bite on my lunch break. It was pretty desolate but I didn't mind having the place basically to myself. I ordered the mahi sandwich with fries. The pineapple and chipotle sauce were perfect. I've also come for happy hour which is a great deal on apps! You can easily make a yummy early meal that way. Can't wait to come back and try something else!

Yelp
My friends and I decided to come here to celebrate one of our's birthdays and since they have indoor dining, it was one of the best choices. Going on a Friday night with a party of 9, there's going to be a wait. It's a very modern little bar/restaurant and with COVID, the seating is minimal of course; so expect there to be a little bit of a wait if you go on a weekend around the prime dinner-time. Regardless, we were very pleased with this restaurant. Our server was very polite and understanding if we needed more time than usual to figure out what to order using the QR code on every table for the menu. Their bar is open to serve drinks to bring to your table, and they have a beer list posted on the wall if you wanted to try. The table ordered zucchini fries, spinach artichoke dip, and fried pickles which all looked and tasted amazing, especially the dip. I ordered the ahi tuna wrap and it comes with a choice of a side; which I ordered fries. The wrap was a good size, delicious, and had a refreshing taste with the ginger dressing inside. I would definitely recommend this place for a casual night out dinner date or a little elevated group dinner like we did. They do offer delivery which is a huge plus because all their food sounds amazing!

Lexi L.

Yelp
I used to love dive bar. It's easy and convenient and right my my house. Good food, usually but lately everytime I order "GRILLED" chicken they give me this nasty soggy mushy chicken . This has now happened more than once. It's literally disgusting I'm not sure why they are serving chicken that looks like dog shit but it's foul
google avatar

Yelp
My food was cold when i got it. I also ordered from DoorDash so nothing towards the restaurant but people delivering food should not be taking pit stops dropping off other people's food. People are dumb

Yelp
Stopped in on a Thursday with my cousin who had never been here and I think I converted him to a Fan. I ordered the Hangover which was Prosciutto, bacon, provolone, lettuce, tomato, pesto aioli and a fried egg on top. It came out on toasted, thin cut bread and looked delicious. It was a tad hard to eat as the bread didn't hold up well once the sandwich was fully assembled but the taste was delicious. The home made potato chips were a perfect side. My cousin ordered the Alabama Slammer burger which had a brown sugar glaze, bacon, cheddar, provolone topped with onion straws. He ordered the fries and a side of slaw. Judging from the fact that he didn't say a single word till that burger was fully engulfed in his digestive cavity, I would say he loved it. This is my 5th or 6th visit to this location and everything we have ever ordered has been delicious. Skip the busy section of Carson St and find this gem for Happy Hour- the specials are awesome!

Yelp
We stopped in here for dinner on our weekend visit to Pittsburgh. The atmosphere was cool and hip. They offered all kinds of local beers and drinks. The food we ordered was decent . We got the Rueben rolls for an appetizer which were good but not great. My girlfriend ordered the Pittsburgh steak bowl which was rather boring and uninspired. I ordered the Dive elite burger which was far from elite. It was not very flavorful and just lacked everything from the beer cheese which was not even noticeable or the fried pickle spear "on the side". I actually had to ask for one of their house made wing sauces to flavor it up and eat it. The highlight was probably the sweet potato tater tots which we both agreed were good. This place overall I feel was fine but with tons of competition in that area I would be ok never going back

Yelp
LET me tell you something about this place.... they have good food. They had half off appetizers when I arrived so I decided to take advantage of them.... I MEAN their special..... and order 3 items. They were all DELICIOUS. This was some of the best made food I've had yet. Everything was spot on. I had the ahi tuna, best I've had yet. I had the Grilled Bella mushrooms on garlic bread... delicious I had the pretzel sticks with cinnamon butter. Yummy. Definitely want to come back for dinner and their weekend brunch. A must try.

Yelp
This business has excellent service! Our waiter was friendly and easily answered questions. Super friendly environment. We went for happy hour. The drinks are pretty strong just a warning. Not a bad thing, but not what I necessarily expected from a more sugary cocktail. Their food is good, but not great. Pretty standard bar food. I recommend happy hour so you can get it at a discounted price!
google avatar

Yelp
A new(er) southside spot is a nice addition. There is a great selection on the menu and the happy hour prices are amazing! There are a variety of apps on the menu, and they are half priced during their happy hour to compliment a drink of the day and reduced wine / beer prices. The staff has been very friendly each time I've been there and very knowledgeable about the menu. I'm always happy when I ask about the beer selection and they offer a sample if it's something new - certainly helped me find a good one! The chicken wings are pently for a full meal for me. I had the regular ones with all different sauces for dipping, because I couldn't choose just one. The spicier the better for me, so I went with the sriracha / spicy / garlic flavored ones. Delish!

Yelp
we went to the s. side for another bar. unfortunately, it didn't open til 4 & it was about 3. we were hungry! hey, let's try this dive bar! we love the lawrenceville location. this 1 was much different inside than the lawrenceville one. this had a 2nd floor. there was a college game on & it was packed up there. & noisy! the walls were mostly brick which did nothing to soften the din from above. & it was 3 in the afternoon! i could imagine what it's like later in the evening. the 1st floor wasn't full, but the only staff was the bartender, & he was humping. a little later, more staff arrived. they helped quite a bit because by then, the 1st floor was filling in. we ordered a glass of merlot & a glass of cab. as seems to happen, the merlot i got was the end of the bottle, & it wasn't good. tom took it & gave me his glass. he is such a sweetheart! i love him so much! our appetizer came. the ahi tuna bites, tasty little snack! tom got the french dip & i got the poutine-ish bowl. we ate every last bit! but none of it tasted/compared to the preparations we've had at the lawrenceville bar. the app was missing the heat. the pork in my bowl was really spicy. too spicy for me. not like lawrenceville! everyone was really kind. if you're in the south side, check them out. but if you can go the the lawrenceville location, go there. sorry!
