Dive Hotel, a Design Boutique Hotel Sydney, Australia

"This small boutique hotel is ideally located on Coogee Beach, in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. It is only a 20-minute drive from Sydney Airport and the CBD. Some rooms offer lovely ocean views. Dive Hotel offers modern rooms and continental breakfast served indoors, outdoors, or by the garden. Guests can enjoy walks in nearby parks and along cliff-top trails. From Dive Hotel, guests can take a bus to Sydney's city centre, the Opera House and Randwick Racecourse. Coogee's thriving restaurants, nightclubs and cafés are only a short walk away." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

The location is amazing and the rooms are liveable but they’re not great. The worst thing for me was that I didn’t really feel safe. The key for the building was left in an unlocked box outside. The key for my room was in a lock box in the hallway, but the door to my ground floor room didn’t lock from the inside. Knowing the key to the building was available to anyone made me feel really unsafe as a solo female traveller. When I was showering each day I was always nervous that the cleaner would walk in. It was fine and the location was good but I never fully relaxed. The room was serviced everyday which was great, but I never actually saw a single member of staff.

If you are looking for a perfect location to access coogee beach with reasonable price, this is the place to book. Otherwise rooms are fairy old but clean. There’s no reception, no other service and no one ever picks up the phone number provided on their website or booking.com.

A lovely place to stay. With a shared kitchen and private pantry. Book the rooms with a beach view. They are subject to some outside noise, but the view is magical.

Fantastic boutique hotel, Beds are very comfortable, and it’s a stones throw from EVERYTHING! |I just loved enjoying my morning coffee, watching the sunrise over Coogee beach on the patio. Plan to return!

Me and my family was spending the weekend and it’s a very pleasant stay at Dive hotel. Rooms are perfectly clean and fresh with the stunning beach view, staff are friendly and helpful with anything. Very close to the beach, a lot of cafes, and places to eat. Always willing to comeback again.

We booked a balcony room and got a surprise upgrade to a beach view, which was excellent. The staff have been helpful at every turn, and location could not be better. Our room is spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a big bathroom and amazing view. Can't wait to see what the rest of our stay holds.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location . The Dive Hotel is a dive . We checked into an ocean view room that smelt badly apparently due to carpet glue . We couldn’t leave the doors open to air the room as intruders could easily climb in . The furniture is old & plastic . We couldn’t change rooms so moved within 2 hrs to the Crowne Plaza next door . The Dive needs major refurbishment . Would not recommend.

Nice room in a fabulous location. I stayed in room 25 and had a private balcony filled with plants. A lovely little spot to have a morning coffee. Let cation superb, across from beach and next to the Coogee Bay Hotel. I wasn’t expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Far from luxury but really comfortable and homely.

Yelp
Great boutique hotel literally right across the street from the beach. I ended up staying here for 2 nights since the Crowne Plaza was full when I tried booking it. The two hotels are right next to each other so it wasn't too much of a hassle (I was at the Crowne earlier), but it was definitely a change going from a chain hotel to a boutique hotel. The room was smaller and the bathroom was way smaller, but it served its purpose since I wasn't planning to be at the hotel that much anyways. Thursday night was $215 AUD and Friday night was $230 AUD so at least it was cheaper. They offer a free continental breakfast for all hotel guests, but I didn't get a chance to eat it. It's a nice addition, but since my room was by the kitchen, I could hear everybody talking early in the morning since breakfast is available starting 7am. It's ironic that they have a sign telling guests to minimize noise at night, but it ends up being noisy in the morning. This would only affect the room by the kitchen though. Pleasant staff, decent room, nice location. It's a good, slightly cheaper hotel option. By the way, the hotel front door is always locked so don't forget your keys!

Yelp
The only real complaint I have about the Dive Hotel is that I only had time to spend one night there. I had a flight out to London the next day, so a big factor in choosing the Dive, located in Coogee, is the fact that it's just 15 minutes from Sydney airport by car. Staying here meant I was able to spend my last night in Sydney right near the beach. Speaking of, only two of the rooms face the ocean, so try and get one of those if you can. I did and loved looking at the waves from my window. The surrounding neighbourhood makes you feel like you live in Sydney (there's nothing touristy about the area). Whilst not fancy, I felt very comfortable at the Dive and would stay here again.

Yelp
Nice little boutique hotel right across from the beach at Coogee. Generally the staff are nice. The room was a good size and nice a clean. I just really liked the feel here so would certainly go back.
