DJH Jugendherberge Oberstdorf-Kornau

Location is great, but rooms are not very well maintained nor cleaned. In the private bathroom there were several small insects, the bathrooms accessible for everyone were very smelly, and sleep was cut short by the noise coming from the breakfast room. Service was rude at times. Unfortunately not good value for money.

The youth hostel is good, the rooms are clean and comfortable. However, the person who seems to be the boss of the hostel (bald and red beard) is quite rude. As young foreigners, we have always tried to express ourselves as much as possible in German and in a very polite way. However, I believe that this person does not like strangers. No hello, no thanks or goodbye. In fact, he didn't even look at us. We had the impression that he was terribly bored by us. This person should question himself or in any case calm his bitterness, which was unfortunately found in some Bavarians.

A above average accommodation with friendly staff and great breakfast. The rooms very pretty clean as well. They also have adequate parking spots around the hostel. Both Oberstdorf and Freibergsee are a short drive from the hostel. The Wi-Fi connection was definitely a shortcoming as mobile network was very weak at this spot. Otherwise would recommend it.

The location of this youth hostel is great between the mountains. The view and landscape around is great. Close to the gorge Breitachklamm. Very good hiking starting point. Value versus cost is great. The problem that there is no internet in the rooms. Also, you have wake up early because the hiking guys make high noise

The rooms are not as well-equipped as some other DJH hostels, for example there are no reading lamps mounted on the walls for the bunk beds and the showers are clean but without any sort of shelf to keep small items dry. Staff very friendly and helpful though.

Great location and friendly staff. It's in a very lovely place surrounded by little mountains. You're in Oberstdorf within 10 mins from the hostel with public transport. They provided us good dinner and breakfast. The WiFi was included in the price; however it was almost never working inside the room. We had to go downstairs every now and then to even google something.

This youth hostel is in a very nice location, the mountains around are perfect for day hikes in the area, for both more advanced tours and also very nice and easy hikes (e.g. Breitachklamm). The staff in the hostel is very nice and helpful and will give you tips for tours you could do. Of course, the rooms are on the low price range and are quite big and you might have to share the room with other people (or you must pay more for smaller rooms). The food is simple, but good and you can have a second go if you are very hungry without problems.

Its a great place to stay. Comfortable bunks with good facilities to shower and relax. The team taking care of the property is awe sum. As it is situated in Kornau, travelling to oberstdorf in evening can be bit difficult.(Last bus available from oberstdorf is around 2130 hrs). Wine and beer is available in hostel. one just have to search for company to chat up.
