DJH Youth Hostel Dessau

The yard and hotel complex itself werent bad matter of fact they were quite nice. Also the catering was decent but there werent really that good sources of fiber and protein. But unforutunayely the beds were really uncomfortable and I had a Hard time sleeping. So I whould recommend that you change the very uncomfortable polliws or the the residents could bring their own.

The best hostel I've stayed in. Clean, tidy, friendly staff, modern rooms, excellent atmosphere. Came back early one night just to chill out (this is unusual for me!) at the back of the room, which had decking table and chairs. Rated location because it was nice and relaxing, even though a little further out of town, but close to the Master's Houses which was handy for me. I hope to come back at some point and stay much longer.

This is precisely what the name suggests, a YOUTH hostel. Communal rooms/showers and a lot of younger people constantly moving through. This is not a place for adults who like privacy or have business to tend to. If you are there to just enjoy the Bauhaus and KNOW what a hostel is, you will enjoy this place... if you're like me, you'll want to find a more traditional hotel.

On our Elbe Radweg trip we stayed in B&Bs, hotels and Jugendherberges and our initial impression of the one in Dessau was not creat - but we were so wrong. The one lady running the whole place that evening saved our day in so many ways. We got our laundry washed and dried for 5 euros, evening meal for 5,50 and beers in the quaint terrace and lobby. Peacefull place despite it being a youth hostel. Location is the only down-side - and the lack of airconditioning on the hot summer days.

No WiFi connection in the rooms. No access to public bathroom after 10pm. Quite a hustle to enter the main building after 10pm. No hairdryer or towels in the rooms. Only two plugs in one room for 6 people... Luckily the place is quite clean.

My 3 weeks long stay in Jugendherberge Dessau was in the middle of a cold wave with snow, freezing temperatures and final project submission. I needed rest, warmth, a good breakfast to start the day and good staff. It got exactly what I needed here. The staff were cordial and helpful and I recall it as a pleasant stay in the quite town of Dessau.

breakfast only sandwiches. sandwiches for lunch too. Sometimes cutlets without garnish. You can die of hunger with such food. I started having stomach problems.

Good athmosphere, good jogging routes, activities outdoor good possibilities
