DJH Youth Hostel Wernigerode

A lovely place to stay in a beautiful town. Rooms were spacious and clean. The buffet breakfast was delicious too.

The veiw is quite good from some rooms but the location in itself is quite strange but still I would say it's a very decent hostel and the rooms are nice it would be a bit better if there was an outlet near the bed else I think it's good would recommend if you go to harzens

Our group of two was very fortunate to get our own room to ourselves, despite the fact there was another bunk bed in the room. The room has a bathroom with a shower. Good size room with plenty of room to walkabout. Room has a small table and chairs and a closet. Depending on how crowded it is (and it usually is in the summer) and the type of guests (youth groups... It is a hostel of course) it can get a bit noisy. We heard some kids on the floor above us having fun in the morning. Good wake up call! As in many hostels, you need to put on your own sheets (provided at check-in). Towels are not included in the room and neither is soap. You can get a very small towel (may need two!) at the front desk. Breakfast and dinner (both buffet) are included in the price. Much better than we expected; in fact, it was very good. Sizeable building with many rooms, lounges, terraces, activity centers, etc. This place caters well to large groups. Parking lot is available but not that many spaces; additional parking on street. Bus stop close by for ride into Wernigerode; healthy walk if you choose to walk. Cost for two people, for two nights, private bath, and meals included was 130 euros. Good value.

A very big youth hostel in a fabulous location but due to some roadworks in the town centre not easily reached as my SatNav kept sending me to the roadworks. I'm writing this at the end of August 2024.

Left a review 4 days ago below. Thought our issue may have been resolved by a 800 number that was left on my comment. However, that just goes to a recording that says this verizon customer has not set up their service or something similar. So our trip keeps getting closer and about having anxiety attacks just over this hostel booking. I'm suppose to be booking with my class who is also staying there to get to and from the school but can not figure out how.

Need to book a room here with a school group, have called many times and no one can speak English and can't find another way to book. This has been the biggest stress of the entire trip. I don't expect everyone to speak English but don't understand why there wouldn't be an online booking option if not.

+ Location may seems off but public transport is free and reliable + Big hostel and free buffet breakfast + Reception service is good though English can be improved + room is clean and comfortable. Like hotel - no free WiFi - bed linen is crazy expensive at 4 EUR

Really cool place, good food, good acomodations. Very clean and organized. On my lazy opinion, there's too much stairs, but besides that it's perfect hahahah
