DO Plaça Reial Hotel Gothic Quarter, Sonder

Great location in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. The staff is a standout—Victor is a total star: warm, helpful, and professional. Henry was also fantastic. Rooms are spacious, spotless, and comfortably cool, which was perfect for the Barcelona summer. Despite being in a noisy area, the room was somewhat quiet. That said, the hotel could benefit from better upkeep in public areas. The key fob to access the building after hours doesn’t work—you have to rely on someone being at the front desk to let you in. The public restroom downstairs also has a broken sink that hasn’t been addressed. F&B service needs work. While the team is friendly and helpful, the bar closes too early (11:30 PM), and you can’t order a glass of wine on the rooftop. That feels like a missed opportunity and probably comes down to poor management decisions, not the staff. Overall, a very good stay—I’d return. With some tweaks, this place could be excellent.

Henry was absolutely amazing and made a worlds of difference in our experience. After one cancelled flight all the way in Madrid, my friend and I rushed over on the train to Barcelona to catch a different flight out in the morning. After a long day stressful day we made it to hotel and was greeted by Henry who offered us water and welcomed us in. We asked for any available room for the cheapest price as we were not planning on spending another day in Spain. He took my passport and noticed it was my birthday he then began to hear about our journey and our long day and offered a discount for a better room. When me made it upstairs the room was BEAUTIFUL and really brightened our day and he even left a birthday card with champagne. Those small details and Henry’s hospitality lifted our spirits and we had an absolutely wonderful stay and will definitely be returning. The rooms are clean and nice and the hotel is so cute and in a wonderful location. There is a Terrace with a great view. We went out for dinner and as we were walking we bumped In to Henry who remembered us from earlier and smiled and said hello. He is the reason we had such a great time and we appreciate everything he did to make us smile. Thanks Henry. I highly recommend this hotel.

Amazing plush hotel in the heart of all the action. But the staff were the best part of everything. So kind and accommodating and genuinely cared. I got a stomach bug when I was there and they went out of their way to accommodate and make sure I had everything I needed. Thank you!

What a fantastic place to stay. The rooms are great. The art in the rooms is brilliant. The location with views of Placa Reial is awesome. The Eggs Benedict was great. The team that run it are fantastic, in particular Victor who was in reception for most of our interactions was fabulous. Great service. Will definitely be back.

The room that we had was very spacious and modern with a great view of the square. The service here is top notch. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The only small issue that we had is the rooftop pool is a spool, not a pool. The furniture on the deck is a bit warn and overall not enought seating. Overall a great value especially if you want to stay where you are right in the middle of all the action.

If you enjoy being in a central location with spectacular views then this is the place for you. Overlooking Do Placa Reial is by far the best part of the Gothic Quarter. Add to that, the hotel staff is one of the best I've ever encountered in my life. Diane Facundo, Thomas and Henry are excellent at their jobs. They have the friendliest demeanor and are eager to help and accomodate even without being asked. The restaurant is also very delicious and excellent staff as well. Thank you all for a wonderful visit!

We had a long stay and the staff was excellent. Huge shoutout to Henry for making my birthday special and always helping us out. Probably my best hotel stay ever. Feels upscale and boutique, not too many guests so you are well catered to and staff knows your name.

We stayed in room 31. Very noisy. Window did not keep out street noise. Black mold in bathroom shower. Mold on tiles by soap dispensers. AC did not keep room cool. It was very warm. When we complained at the front desk they did give us a sound machine that helped drown out the street noise for the second night.
