DO Plaça Reial Hotel Gothic Quarter, Sonder

Very nice stay in a great Gothic Quarter location. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our suite was beautiful, very clean, spacious. We had double person walk-in showers. We were lucky with terrific weather and could open up the doors to the balconies to see the square and feel the nice breeze. I recommend this hotel for a nice, comfortable stay. Our suite was #21.

We absolutely loved our stay at the DO Plaça Reial Sonder hotel! It was the perfect location for us- there was a little market and live music in the plaça each day (we were there on the weekend) and it was accessible to everywhere. We had room 11 which had a balcony that looked over the plaça, we liked the window open during the day, but as soon as you closed them it was much quieter.|The bed was comfortable, the room spacious and the bathroom pristine.|Also the staff was very friendly and helpful!

The place The benefits from its location at La Rambla. This brings a few advantages if you want to enjoy shopping or sightseeing. Other than that, you need to be patient here. Checking took.way to long. Wherever we stay in Marriots globally it takes 2 min, here it's rather 10 to 15 min. There is just one elevator which might be installed mid of the last century. At night and especially at the weekends is noicy till early morning. I'm missing here several things which are easy in other Marriott places. For me.this is for sure nit a 5 star place. Despite people are friendly and supportive.

This rooms in this hotel are lovely with a balcony and the location is centrally located in the Gothic Quarter. Placa Reial has many nice restaurants and bars. It's a great spot to people watch too. Be sure to go to the upper floor where there is a rooftop lounge with a great view and a small pool. Service was excellent - the staff is extremely helpful.

Staff was great but hotel shut down and kicked us out w/o warning. Woke up to an email from Marriott saying get out in less than 2 hours - never was told by staff at hotel||Cute little hotel - hope somebody else buys it & re-opens it. Great location on Reial Plaza, the sounds of nightlife are masked when you close your patio door.

Great location in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. The staff is a standout—Victor is a total star: warm, helpful, and professional. Henry was also fantastic. Rooms are spacious, spotless, and comfortably cool, which was perfect for the Barcelona summer. Despite being in a noisy area, the room was somewhat quiet. That said, the hotel could benefit from better upkeep in public areas. The key fob to access the building after hours doesn’t work—you have to rely on someone being at the front desk to let you in. The public restroom downstairs also has a broken sink that hasn’t been addressed. F&B service needs work. While the team is friendly and helpful, the bar closes too early (11:30 PM), and you can’t order a glass of wine on the rooftop. That feels like a missed opportunity and probably comes down to poor management decisions, not the staff. Overall, a very good stay—I’d return. With some tweaks, this place could be excellent.

Amazing plush hotel in the heart of all the action. But the staff were the best part of everything. So kind and accommodating and genuinely cared. I got a stomach bug when I was there and they went out of their way to accommodate and make sure I had everything I needed. Thank you!

The room that we had was very spacious and modern with a great view of the square. The service here is top notch. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The only small issue that we had is the rooftop pool is a spool, not a pool. The furniture on the deck is a bit warn and overall not enought seating. Overall a great value especially if you want to stay where you are right in the middle of all the action.

Our stay at DO Plaça Reial was a bittersweet experience. Maybe it's because, after traveling more extensively since our last stay here seven years ago, we've realized that five-star ratings can mean very different things depending on expectations. The Positives: * Service & Cleanliness: Excellent. No complaints here. The staff was professional, and the hotel was well-maintained. * Location: Right in Plaça Reial, just steps from La Rambla and surrounded by bars, restaurants, and local shops. Many major tourist spots are within walking distance or a short taxi ride away. Uber is available, but we found hopping into the first cab worked better, especially if you're in a hurry. * Amenities: There's a small spa on the second floor, plus a rooftop bar and pool, which add to the appeal. * Breakfast: Served in a lower-level room from 7:30 AM to 11 AM. The food was fresh, with options like eggs, tomatoes, bacon (we requested it well-done), croissants, fruit, yogurt, fresh orange juice, coffee, and tea. We had it included in our reservation. The Negatives: * The Room (Specifically Room 21): We stayed here seven years ago and were surprised to find that nothing--literally nothing--had changed. The same furniture, décor, and unfortunately, the same mattress with deep indentations from years of use. We actually took turns sleeping on the couch, which wasn't much better. Room looked great considering it's still original. Lots of closet space and a small safe. * Noise Levels: The charm of an old building comes with minimal noise insulation. Even with windows closed, outside sounds--especially from nightlife and late-night crowds--come right in. Expect yelling and commotion until around 6 AM as bars let out and people cut through the plaza. You'll also feel the rumble of the subway every so often. If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs and a white noise machine--you'll need them. * Lighting: The breakfast room is quite dark, with no natural light. * Bathroom Storage: Plenty of provided toiletries, but almost nowhere to put your own if you bring them within the double shower stall. Other Notes: The room includes a Roku TV that allows you to log into Netflix, YouTube, etc., and it automatically logs you out at checkout. Final Thoughts: While there are certainly positives, the lack of updates--especially the uncomfortable mattress and noise issues--means we likely won't stay here again. Sleep is just too valuable when traveling, and unfortunately, that's something we couldn't get here. Would we recommend it? Only if you're okay with a bit of discomfort in exchange for location and charm. Otherwise, there are plenty of other five-star stays in Barcelona that offer a much better night's rest.

this is a perfect boutique hotel, located directly on the Placia Rieal. seriously, everything about our stay was perfect, from checkin to checkout. rooms were large by typical European standards, location was excellent, situated between the marina/embarcadero and the Gothic areas. all the fixtures were modern, plenty of amenities (high-end soaps and lotions), huge towels. idk if they do this for every guest but we were given name cards with our names and hotel name and address printed on them. not sure of the utility in these modern times, but it was still pretty cool :) we only had one meal (breakfast) in the hotel restaurant (included with our plan) and it was perfectly satisfying, if not elaborate highly recommended!

I really can't say enough good things about Hotel Do. The room was beautiful overlooking the square (close the shutters and the window and you won't hear much of the square). You can tell that the staff goes out of their way to be helpful - bringing sweets and fruit at night, helping to carry luggage, and just being positive and friendly. We especially loved Nicholas and also ate at the restaurant and had one of the most delicious, memorable meals ever. The breakfast is probably the best courtesy breakfast I have ever had - the menu is extensive and the food was great. If you are going to Barcelona, Hotel Do should be on the top of your list to stay at.

Amazing boutique style hotel! We had a beautiful room with high ceilings. Hotel is very clean and small (I think they have only 16 rooms). Great customer service. Delicious and generous breakfast was included with our stay (even a la carte was included!). Our fridge was always restocked with natural and mineral water as well as other soft drinks (free of cost!). In the evening were always surprised with the delicious complimentary treats. This hotels deserves 5 stars in all the aspects! They are like Four Seasons but even better considering the price and quality! Thank you for such memorable stay in Barcelona! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Barcelona!

This was the most fantastic hotel my wife and I have ever stayed at. The room and the service were impeccable. The room was a little smaller than we are used to as Americans but it had everything you could need. The bed and linens were very comfortable; they gave you a bathrobe and slippers to wear and also have a towel warmer for those early morning showers. Double sink in the bathroom made getting ready in the morning a breeze! We would get ready and go to breakfast, which was included and when we came back the room was made up already. When we came back from dinner the room was turned down and some fruit or candies were provided as well. Could not be happier with the service. Speaking of the breakfast, it wasn't some continental breakfast that was included. You could go to the restaurant and order anything you wanted and it was free. Just tell them what room you were in and that was it. Breakfast was one of my favorite meals partly for this reason! The staff spoke wonderful English and were very helpful. They greeted you every time you came and went and asked if there was anything we needed. One of the nicest things about coming back to the hotel was that everything in the mini bar was free as well. It was so nice to know you could come back to the room and have a drink and not worry about how much it would cost. It really seemed that they went out of their way to make everything enjoyable. I will say that the hotel is in the Placa Reial, which is very loud pretty much 24/7. There are several night clubs in the area and the noise from people does not stop til about 4 in the morning. There is nothing the hotel can do about that but they do have shutters, decently thick windows/door and blinds. That is the only bad thing but again, if you are getting a hotel in Placa Reial you have to have some expectations of noise. We are already planning our trip back!

We stayed at this wonderful hotel post cruise on RCCL Harmony of the Seasar . Hotel has great location near Las Ramblas and on Placa Reial, Everything about this hotel was perfect. We booked a suite with a balcony and could hear and feel the culture every night. The room was a nice size, with Molton Brown products, and the bed was perfect. We are a family of three whom enjoy traveling in style and had not one complaint about this hotel, we highly recommend it. We are the Healthyfitcouple and we approve this hotel :)

Came here on a Tuesday night at the recommendation of a friend. You can't beat the ambience, you are in the center of a beautiful plaza with a fountain dead center and musicians playing in the street. As for dinner, we started with the patatas bravas shared between 2 people, a croquette and the calamari. The patatas bravas were perfect and were presented with love- seriously the best presentation and cooked so the exterior was crispy. The croquette was also good, not the best I've had but it wasn't bad. The calamari was also okay, nothing to be excited about. For dinner, my two friends shared a lobster paella (26 Euros/pp). Although it's quite pricey, both regarded it as the best paella they've had in Barcelona. They did complain it wasn't very filling, but this is a nice restaurant. I had the veal burger, not bad. The fries were good, reminds me of In N Out fries from California. The bread was a little harder than what I'm used to. My bf had the sea bass and it was fresh and worth it. Overall nice restaurant within a beautiful plaza that runs a bit pricey.

Food is good here. I also like the outdoor relax environment. Portion is a bit small but since I can eat much today perfect for me.

Surprisingly good. We usually try to avoid these kind of square-based touristy looking places. But we ended up here and we're very pleasantly surprised. I got the menu which included solid gazpacho, perfectly cooked strip steak and a nice flan dessert. My ice got some of the best grilled shrimp we've had on this trip. We also split a Catalan salad which was delicious and plentiful. The menu price was €16 (amazing value). Very recommended!

I stayed here for 4 days - lovely boutique hotel with charming staff - my room was a single but very comfortable and well appointed. An arrival welcome drink of a glass of wine was lovely and everyday a dessert or fresh piece of fruit left in the room. I loved the bed linens and a selection of pillows of different fillings so I could get a comfortable sleep. Great location and would definitely recommend this establishment

Solid dining experience. So much so that we ate here twice. Definite favorites would be the watermelon gazpacho, the patatas bravas, any of the croquettes and the cod donuts. One night we had the lobster paella and it was spectacular. Also their cocktails are HUGE, 1 of theirs is easily two of ours, and made at your table. Very nice, can't wait to go back.

Lovely! Jean Claude came running out to help us with our luggage. The staff, friendly and helpful. A beautiful breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice, flakey pastry and choice of entree in the original bricked ceiling restaurant, was included. The location is not far from the cruise ships, shopping and fountain plaza is right out the door.

Loved this hotel. High ceilings, clean, great location, wonderful and attentive staff. The bathrooms were a dream. Also, the food was decent - delicious breakfast and dinner.
