Do&Co has an excellent location, right in the heart of Vienna and overlooking Stephensplatz. I have only ever stayed at the Rosewood in Vienna, and that location is equally incredible, without the view of the cathedral. ||The rooms At Do&Co are very dated and worn, with scratches in the wooden flooring, stains on the leather wall features, broken lights, cracked tiles and heavily worn furniture. Everything looks and feels tired, dusty and worn. I’ve seen the hotel comment on previous reviews that they maintain the rooms and renovate them regularly, but I highly doubt this. I stayed here just yesterday and the same issues persist. ||Room service was slow, and half of our order was missed. We called after 1 hour to check our order was registered, and it took another 40 minutes to arrive. Half was missed, which arrived another 2 hours later and was cold. Food was nice, despite being so delayed. The room service team were lovely but sadly very very run off their feet (and just one person). We asked for an extra blanket as the room was quite cold, and never received it; following up numerous times and finally giving up. Additionally, the TV wasn’t working, just had “connecting” on the screen, which we could not move past. We reported but by this point, just wanted to sleep. ||Also beware that the hotel will take an enormous deposit from you; they charged us 1200 Euro deposit/hold. ||But the best part was the terrible service. From the moment we walked in, the staff were dismissive, rude and unhelpful. This was no surprise once we met the Manager, Katharina Huber. She seems completely inexperienced in managing a hotel and lacks basica hospitality training. She was flustered and seemed anxious and stressed by how busy the hotel was at the time we checked in. She rolled her eyes at a guest and seemed to disregard basic requests as fatuous. Her team are equally rude and I witnessed one of them (Veronica) shouting at a guest across the hallway from my room at around 9pm. I was concerned hearing some shouting outside my door and went to check, and was shocked to see Veronica standing in a guests doorway shouting at her, being sarcastic in her tone and basically telling the guest to shut up. This treatment toward guests and behaviour clearly comes from the top. Her tone was condescending, her language dismissive and she rolled her eyes while speaking to us. ||I knew the hotel was a bad idea during the checkin, and once it came to our turn we were met with hostility and rudeness when we requested an extra bed in our room for our child. The hotel’s policy states that all children aged 12 and under are free to stay, and that extra beds are available. Upon this checkin, the staff proceeded to tell us that our smallest child could not be accommodated in the room, and we would need to find another hotel. They told us we must cancel the rest of our booking and find another hotel. We were standing there, with all our bags, after a day of traveling, tired and wanting to sleep. The hotel showed absolutely no care or interest in helping us, and finally agreed to an exception for 1 night, allowing us to stay. The rooms are enormous, and can easily accommodate extra beds, plus have a small lounge that can become a bed. The hotel tried to threaten us, stating the law in Austria does not allow 4 guests in one room…. It seems we have broken the law in every hotel we have stayed in Austria then? ||I am sure the hotel will reply to this review and fabricated side of this situation that is incorrect, to make themselves look good, but be warned. The service is awful, and the location can only get you so far. To make matters worse, the hotel essentially kicked us out and are trying to charge me for another night… ||Side note: I have traveled the world with my kids - and have never EVER had an issue with my son staying in our room. I always pay for an extra bed for my older child, but for a toddler, I have never had an issue, and he usually either sleeps with us or in his portable cot. By this hotel’s own policies: “all children are welcome, and children over the age of 12 are considered an adult”. He is 3. ||If you want to pay a lot of money only for a really average hotel with a nice view of a cathedral, then sure - stay here. Rooms are old and service is poor. ||But if you want to experience proper hospitality, feel like a guest and have a nice space to relax in; stay literally anywhere else. Especially if you’re traveling with a 3 year old adult. ||Do&Co Board: please provide your staff with proper training, and hire someone more experienced to manage your front office. Investors: consider buying this hotel and taking it over. If this hotel could offer great service and had a refresh, it would make a very good yield.
