D.O.C Espresso & Delicatessen

My friends and I happened to be in Carlton, and popped into DOC for breakfast, clueless to the amazing experience we were about to have. The staff were so bubbly, attentive and patient and the place is so beautifully decorated with produce, italian products and their mouth watering deli meats display. We ordered simple sandwiches, caprese and just mortazza, and they were AMAZING! So fresh and so delicious. The mortadella was so tasty, melts in your mouth with a smoky peppery flavour, made me remember my childhood. Coffees really wonderful too. Thank you DOC for an amazing breakfast experience! 🫶🏼 If you are visiting Melbourne (or are a local) this is my top deli/breakfast recommendation!

Every bite tastes like Italy — made with real ingredients sourced straight from Italy and the best local produce. You can taste the quality and love in every slice. Their selection of Italian wines is top-notch — the perfect match for that perfectly blistered crust and rich tomato base. And don’t even think about leaving without trying the Tiramisu — easily the best in town, creamy, balanced, and truly authentic. The vibe is pure Italian joy — outdoor dining during the day makes you feel like you’re sitting at a café in Rome. Great food, great wine, and great people — DOC Carlton is the real deal.

best pasta (get the zucchini one and any special they have) lovely service, good focaccia, solid coffee, mediocre calamari; great outdoor seating!!!! would reccomend

My friend and I stopped for coffee, a panino and a cornetto. Food and coffee were perfect and service from Ruben and the girl with red hair was lovely. Will return.

Sandwich was great, the proscuitto inside was so fresh and tasty. The cheese inside the sandwich was also very salty and tasty which worked so well with the prosciutto then offset by the bread. The pastas here were ok, the favourite of the lot was the lasagna. The salumi board was pretty decent as-well.

Yes, I will 100% pay $18 AUD everyday for a prosciutto sandwich from here because it’s genuinely like flying to Italy and the best sandwich in Melbourne lol

Such a cute, traditional Italian experience! It was like a little taste of being in Italy. The music, the workers were all so happy and singing in Italian. Coffee was great and the Nutella croissant was made fresh, so delicious!!

Beautiful selection of authentic Italian small goods. It’s not cheap but the quality is first class. Service is excellent with the staff happy to make suggestions. We bought all we needed for homemade pizza including freshly made Napoli Sauce Mozzarella, hot Salami and a bottle of Chianti. Perfect. Recommended.
