We're in town for the week and staying at the nearby Sunnahae Hotel, so I strolled down to the Dockside Cafe for breakfast. Cute little place, local artwork for sale on the walls with seating for maybe 20, and they were busy (always good to see), so I sat at the counter (which I prefer: much easier to have a chat with the staff from there).
I ordered the standard breakfast: two eggs over easy, home fries, bacon and whole wheat toast with a small orange juice, and it came out promptly.
Wow, the bacon! Just the way I like it, medium-thick and well done with just enough fat on the edges. It's increasingly hard to find good bacon, and the Dockside has it. The home fries, eggs and toast were very good too, but the bacon stole the show for me.
Staff are friendly and efficient, and though I saw no masks in evidence I did note hand sanitizer available. I'm fully vaxxed and wore my mask when not eating, so I felt reasonably comfortable.
When you're on POW Island and you're hungry, stop by the Dockside Cafe in Craig and get the bacon, and leave a tip for Chef Matt and the staff.
