The Stockton Inn Hotel Review | Hotels Above Par

"Down at Dog & Deer Tavern, I found classic starters such as East Coast Oysters, Spicy Tuna Tartare, and Crab & Artichoke Dip set the tone for mains like Steak Frites, the D&D Cheeseburger, and a crisp Chicken Milanese; for dessert their nostalgic take on a Snickers Ice Cream Bar—peanut ice cream, chocolate shell, bananas, and salted caramel—felt delightfully gourmet."

My husband and I really enjoyed our experience. The tavern is a small intimate setting, service is attentive. The wine offerings (by the glass) were above average. I had the Branzino and my husband had the scallops. Each cooked perfectly! Would definitely go back.

Where do I even start… AMAZING. The service, the food, the people, the atmosphere, all of it. I’d give it 6 stars if I could! The NA drinks were amazing, we tried the P.O.G and it was so good- you could taste each of the flavors (passionfruit, orange, guava). The hosts and servers were amazing, very kind and answered any questions we had! The food was next level and in my book- perfect. We shared the crab & artichoke dip along with the steak tartar and finished with the tropical sundae. The dip was amazing, the bread given with the dip is amazing by itself but together they go perfectly. The steak tartar is so good between the flavors and consistency you can’t even tell it’s raw steak. The tropical sundae is definitely my favorite. It is light and refreshing after dinner, the flavors of the pineapple and coconut and subtle lime shavings go perfectly together. Definitely recommend, definitely worth the price, definitely coming back!

I had dinner with some friends on a Friday night and it was great atmosphere and place to spend time. I found it to be a weird space though and the wait staff was not the best. Food was delicious though! We split the Focaccia and Pepperoni Pizza as starters. The pizza was very good. I got a Kale Caesar as my entree and it was delicious - covered in Parmesan cheese. If you are in the area, definitely give this place a look!

Fantastic night at the reimagined and fabulously redone dog and deer tavern at the Stockton Inn. Our server Frank was friendly and attentive as was every employee we encountered. The cocktails were served in beautiful high quality glasses which I appreciate! Everything we ordered was beyond wonderful. Steak and burger cooked perfectly. Fresh seafood. Wonderful salad, crab claws, hot dip and focaccia. Outside area looks stunning and we loved the intimate cozy nature of our table inside. Only complaint is that we wish closer to Yardley, but we will back often. Worth the trek! Highly recommend and loved, loved!!

A beautiful atmosphere paired with incredible food and stellar drinks. The Dog and Deer Tavern provides a wonderful dining experience steeped in local history. The moment you walk through the door you’re greeted with a warm welcome and helped promptly, I was lucky enough to find a seat at the bar. Throughout my meal the staff were gracious and thoughtful, my bartender was very attentive and friendly. I couldn’t have asked for a better time, Stockton Inn is back and better than ever.

STOCKTON: Stockton Inn is a classy hotel in a newly renovated historic building with a few dog friendly rooms and we enjoyed one of their restaurants, Dog & Deer Tavern, that offers an outdoor terrace where leashed and friendly dogs are allowed. A fully covered space, and heated in chilly weather, the fine dining menu is exquisitely prepared and we indulged in the sourdough focaccia starter and the D&D burger as an entree. Sitting at the bar, we had front row seats to Brian, the bar manager, and mixologist extraordinaire. He was creating beautiful and mouth watering cocktails as seen in more metropolitan cities. He brings a level of experience and taste to New Jersey that we look for on our excursions. Truly excellent. The ambiance of the outdoor space is elegant while being approachable. With different areas to sit and nature views, we especially loved the relaxing waterfall. The walkway into the space is also a treat. Whether you visit on a day trip or overnight, you will have an amazing experience at Dog & Deer Tavern.

I’ve been watching the quality restoration of this old renowned Inn for a while now. I remember it years ago when it needed attention which gratefully it received by the current owners. I noticed the restoration finishes appeared to be first rate, so of course I was anxious to go n try it out! I called to get done basic information prior to arriving at The Stockton Inn … like where’s the entrance door? I learned it’s in the back, off the parking lot. The decor I felt was “just okay”as compared to the solid quaint exterior vibe of the building . The main entry to me was disappointing in its look, though the Dog and Deer tavern area was better looking, it shortly became loud but vibrant. I think some sophisticated background music would help a bit to elevate the feel. My bartender ,David, was very kind and helpful. He didn’t seem to mind my endless questions either . The crowd is upscale similar folks you’d see at Black Bass or BlkShed, just as you might expect in this manicured yet natural “Bucks County” general area. The Bartenders knew their job so my drink did the required job for me,and there seemed to be countless selections of alcohol lining the bar area walls. I watched what others had ordered to eat and chose the burger which was a tad greasy n smallish . The bread I don’t think helped it as my guess was that it was buttered ..hence the greasy taste. I’d make the burger a bit bigger and put it on a more worthy bun. I didn’t have the fries but had the side salad . It took a little while to be served my food but in the meanwhile I scoped the bread appetizer which looked very tempting, but from what little I could see being served the pizza seemed the winner! You know next time I go there just what I’m having! All things considered I’m sure I’ll be back . It will be great in the summer out by the wishing well made famous by the Lorenz Hart song that memorized The Stockton Inn to begin with. A great place for a date, not a place I’d bring a child , but I haven’t experienced their actual dining room, Finch . I’d say give it a try n bring a friend or a loved one to enjoy it all with you !

A wonderful dining experience in a beautifully renovated historic building. Our waiter, Sam, could not have been better! He was very professional and very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was some of the best I've had and the desserts were awesome. We ate inside and it was a bit noisy so we checked out the outdoor dining before we left and it was toasty warm even though it was raining and in the '40s. I think next time we would opt for the patio dining if it's available.

Yelp
Needs improvement on service, quality of the food. I don't mind paying for a good meal but I went there tonight and I had a hard time choosing what to order as my other 5 in the group. I ordered scallops the chef needs to change the recipe no flavor paid $46 for 3 scallops it was enough for an appetizer not dinner. The waiter was not familiar with the menu, 3 people in my group ordered a cosmo with Grey Goose two martinis with the same vodka and blue cheese olives his answer to all was sorry we don't have that. Point is they come across as a great place to go which I agree only for the ambience but you can't eat ambience. They should consider not to be cheap on their portions and deliver a great meal that complements the ambiance. Btw for the management my reservation was 6:30 party of six.

Yelp
Been coming to Stockon Inn since I moved here from Cali16 years ago. The latest iteration is probably the highest in cuisine...and also pomposity. Came in yesterday for drinks and apps at the bar. Good food and very good drinks by a total pro bartender named Dylan. Then there's this chick in her first manager job. I think she probably failed the police academy entrance exam and now she's trying to enforce stupid made up rules at the Stockton bar. So if you're having a nice night sitting on a barstool talking to a nice couple (who are regulars) she will intrude upon your conversation and say "no one is allowed to stand near the bar, please have a seat at a table". Eat me babe, I'm not going anywhere.

Yelp
The Stockton Inn is a beautiful property rivaling and perhaps eclipsing The Logan and Odette's in ambiance. On nice nights, the patio, with an actual waterfall, is amazing. We've dined at the Dog and Deer a number of times and the food has been great. Especially the pizza. The cocktails interesting and expertly made Highly recommend

Yelp
Outdoor patio is lovely. Indoor facilities didn't really zing me. Fortunately, We had reserved an outdoor table.

Yelp
So good this place is back in business. Great food (loved the bar area). Looking forward to nice weather and outside seating too.

Yelp
The remodel of the property is absolutely beautiful. The new owners did a magnificent job. I can only comment from my experience with the inside bar. My wife and I along with another couple were seated at the end of the bar which had the four seats needed. We ordered several glasses of wine; the pour was comical. I have no issues paying for a good glass of wine. At most this may have been a four-ounce pour. Very large glass with very little wine, ridiculous! The atmosphere along with the staffs' dress no doubt is looking to cater to the upper class. However, they are missing the mark. I truly do not apricate the bartender speaking with other staff throwing the "F" bomb in front of clientele. The staff gathered at the end of the bar picking up drinks with no regard of how loud they were talking and again cursing. This was a terrible experience for us. If you want to have your staff dress in whites and walk with their one arm behind the back to present the classy experience, you may want to clean up the cursing and rudeness.
