"In the heart of the village is the famous Dog & Fox pub, the perfect pitstop after walking down the steep hill from the courts. Things get lively in the evening and it’s been known to attract some famous tennis faces dancing on the tables."

I'm strenously fighting the temptation not to go overboard about this place, but as my favourite writer said “I can resist everything except temptation”.|Firstly, the reception staff gladly and happily welcome you and make you immediately feel at 'home'. |The restaurant staff are as attentive as invigilators in an examination. |The rooms are delightful and so carefully prepared by the housekeeper(s) whom you don't see at all (not even to thank). |If you really want to experience a quietly effecient and calm 'ambience ' that hides the hard work to make it appear delightfully so (like a swan paddling upstream)... this is your place. |Thank you for a delightful stay and I shall return by booking early!

We enjoyed our 5 night stay in the Dog & Fox. We were 3, 2 plus teen. Also, some friends joined us for a couple of the nights. We had room 9 which is their most spacious room. It is very nicely decorated and has a good heating system you can control to your liking at any time. There is also a terrace, it was too cold to use it but it was nice to be able to open the door for fresh air. The shower was good, lots of hot water and the heated towel rail was always on. I was concerned it would be noisy being in the heart of the village and staying in a pub but it was not in our room. Naturally there is some noise but it settles down at an acceptable time. The room is cleaned daily & a bottle of tap water is replenished which is a nice touch. A few negatives on the room, due to the windows having privacy glass, the room has very little natural light so you do need to have lights on all of the time. The mattress is a little too soft/worn and could do with changing & some of the pillows are lumpy, luckily I found one that was ok for sleeping. There is no nice chair in the room for relaxing with a book and there is nowhere else to go as the pub is busy so I did miss having a quiet moment. This would be ok if staying one or two nights but for anything longer is tiring. Moving on from the room, the pub is a buzzy one. We ate breakfast most mornings & we had one dinner. Dinner was ok, I would have loved some more fresh veg and fish options. When we asked for the dessert menu, we were told the kitchen was closed, we were a bit late so fair enough but it would have been nice if we were given the heads up rather than it getting too late. At breakfast, we enjoyed various options between us. The pastry/cereal buffet is small and some days not the freshest, also it lacked any freshly prepared fruit. It is very basic. Cooked options were good but be warned portions are small, one piece of toast per person. Having said this, the 2 waiters that mostly took care of us at breakfast were really very good & attentive. They happily got some extra beans, another hot coffee etc. So thanks to them. ||All in all, we enjoyed our stay and found the location of the Dog & Fox excellent. It is about a 15 minute walk to the train making Wimbledon a great retreat from busy London. The staff is very good here too, all very courteous and friendly & this really makes a difference. So, thank you Dog & Fox for looking after us. Happy New Year!

We stayed to attend the wedding celebrations of our daughter and now son in law at the hotel. All of staff we interacted with were very professional, attentive and a delight to interact with. Great breakfast offering with plenty of choice and good quality. Room was gorgeous and very pleasantly quiet given the location. Highly recommend having an event there and mooching around the locale too.

I stayed for five nights while on business locally and was very comfortable. The room was well equipped and comfortable, and I was surprised to find it so quiet when the hotel fronted on to a busy road. The staff were particularly courteous and helpful: once I had eaten breakfast the server remembered what I liked.|I dined there on two evenings and was very happy with the service. I was eating alone amidst a variety of Christmas gatherings but I never felt overlooked. Staff were also very quick to find a solution when I had a problem with the wi-fi.

The Dog & Fox in Wimbledon Village is situated in an ideal location. It is perfect for a walk around the village and Wimbledon Common or to walk down the hill to Wimbledon itself. Transport links are great too! The bedrooms are comfy & spacious with all the facilities needed for a few days away. It is also handy to have the restaurant and bar downstairs for a delicious meal or to sit at or near the bar for a few drinks! We will definitely return. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable! 😊

We checked in and the staff were great. The first issue was entering the room (Room 2) which was like a sauna as the aircon had been set to 25c and left running. First job was to turn it off and let the room cool down. The TV in the room wasn't working and looking behind it there is just a mass of jumbled wires taped together and half the tape fell off. Fiddled with it and finally got a picture. The bathroom is well appointed but shabby. There were cobwebs hanging from the corners of the mirror and was otherwise grubby. It had obviously not been cleaned well for a considerable time. The pillows were really uncomfortable. These may seem like petty gripes, but this hotel charges a premium proce for these rooms and they should do better. The breakfast, and the staff were all great. Very friendly and cheerful.

Let me start by saying this is our go to spot when we come to London, our home away from home. We do love it, we live the Village and have many years of fond memories of The Dog and Fox when we were locals. Sadly, our last stay let us down. |We prebooked a room for new years before we left our previous stay. We booked a largest standard room with a balcony. When we arrived for our new years trip, we were given another room, one much smaller and no balcony. When we asked why our room is not the one we arranged--Room 9 we were offered no explanation nor an apology. As there was three of us, we did wish to have a more spacious room, which is why we spoke to someone at the time of booking for a roomier room. Disappointed, as we always has great service in the past. In fact, we felt dismissed when we raised a query with the manager.|This room was very cold, the heating had not been turned on prior to our arrival and it took several hours for it to be warmed up. There was a lot of dust on the bedside tables and the cupboard was very dusty with a previous tennants moldy old slippers where it was obviously not cleaned. The bathroom shower curtain was old and yellow stained as well. It wasn't the standard we have had previously. Cannot feel a bit let down.|We have already booked our next trip, however. Based on previous experiences only not this last trip. An apology or ownership of an error was all it took. |
