The Best New Ways to Travel This Year: 2023 Hot List

"Qatar’s art-filled Hamad International Airport is regularly voted among the world’s best by air travelers, and now passengers arriving by sea will be greeted in similar style at the just-launched Doha Grand Cruise Terminal. Opened just before the FIFA World Cup, the new facility sprawls along the water’s edge near the city center. It is able to host two mega-ships simultaneously, with a capacity to welcome 12,000 passengers per day. In a nod to traditional Arabian architecture, the building’s sand-colored façade features rows of repeated arches, creating dramatic contrasts of light and shadow. There’s an art gallery, a large open-air rooftop terrace, and, perhaps most thrillingly, an escalator for arriving passengers that passes through a vast aquarium before emerging into the bright Doha sunshine."

This cruise terminal is probably the most traditional looking structure of architectural design building for me...as I've seen many cruise ship terminals over the years of cruising, this one is definitely unique. A combination of a Mosque+Museum feel of the Gulf region, it's beautiful both inside and out, located in the Mina district with a variety of shops...perfect for a leisure walk around the promenade with lovely harbour views and skyline. The terminal is staffed with good security personnel, Immigration/customs whom are willingly helpful, duty-free shopping and a beautiful indoor Aquarium which is open to the general public, lots of parking for tour buses, taxis etc. The terminal is a short drive away from some area attractions like the Doha Corniche, Souq Waqif and Katara Village, tours can be booked through the cruise line or tour company from here...very nice indeed.

Newly built building for cruise ships took my breath away by possible connection of cultural and airiness in one construction. We stopped by in late evening and saw it closer as well as inside. Big aquarium with local fish. Free entrance. Also , you can catch beautiful views on Doha from the water.

The Doha Cruise Terminal is a fantastic gateway to the city! The terminal is modern, well-organized, and designed to provide a seamless experience for visitors. From the moment we disembarked, everything was quick and hassle-free. The location is excellent—it’s just a short distance from key attractions like the Doha Corniche, Souq Waqif, and the National Museum of Qatar. Within minutes, we were able to start exploring the city’s vibrant culture and stunning architecture. The terminal staff were friendly and efficient, and the transportation options were well-managed, making it easy to get into the heart of Doha. Whether you’re on a short stopover or planning a full day in the city, this cruise terminal makes it effortless to make the most of your visit. Highly recommended for anyone cruising into Doha—it’s the perfect introduction to this beautiful city!

What a wonderful place it is a part of Old Doha Port. You can see there the giant cruse ships. There is also a very big grass area there overlooking the sea and a lot of beaches. Some people bring their own seats and gathering with their families and friends. Very nice place especially when the weather is good. Go there and you will never regret, don't miss it.

Went there by 8pm I couldn’t see the aquarium. I thought they closed by 9pm. Apparently they close 8pm. If you want to go see the aquarium you could go earlier 5 or 6pm is a fine time.. it won’t be much crowded I guess.
