We visited on our drive from the San José airport to La Fortuna and it was the perfect first stop in Costa Rica. I didn’t purchase tickets in advance because I wasn’t sure when we’d arrive, but we got there just after 12 PM and they were so welcoming and able to fit us right into the tour. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the experience was both fun and educational — even my kids (ages 1–12) were fully engaged the whole time! We loved learning about the coffee and chocolate processes, and the samples were incredible. We also added lunch afterward and were blown away by how delicious everything was. It was such a memorable way to kick off our trip. We’d definitely recommend stopping here to anyone traveling through!

Excellent experience and very good tour. The place is quite nice, the guides are knowledgeable and you feel good in the place. The price is fair for what you get. There is a free degustation of coffee and chocolates. Also there is a Butterfly place to visit. We stayed for lunch which was good and typical. Buffet style. The price excellent for USD 15, good portion and a nice setup.

The coffee tour is interesting. Good to know something new, and quite surprised to know most of the coffee bean pickers are Nicaraguans. After the tour, people can still walk around the park if there's enough time. The chocolate and coffee in their shop are nice, and people are welcomed to have a taste. The passion fruit chocolate is my personal favorite. The lunch can be booked upon booking if the visit hour is right.

Really informative and succinct coffee tour. Felt very much like an experience, being walked through each process from growing the crops, to harvesting, washing, drying, processing and roasting the beans. We also had lunch there too (17 USD pp) and it was good value for what you get especially if you’re planning on driving somewhere far later. Coffee was fantastic with lots of roasts available! Its about $20 USD per bag, but with options to buy X amount and get X free, also includes free shipping to the US!

A friend recommended that we stop by this plantation and we are so glad we had time for the tour. We started and finished with samples of tasty coffee and chocolates. The tour included a balance of farming practices and coffee processing; starting with seedlings, moving through adult plants, and finishing with the processing of coffee beans. The grounds are beautiful and the butterfly garden is a bonus. This is about a 30 minute drive from the SJO area and it is well worth the trip (even if you were not going to do the tour and opted for coffee tasting in the shop).

Beautiful garden especially each plant and every species works in harmony with birds, creating a naturally balanced ecosystem. Through this ecological balance, pests are controlled by nature itself, allowing the coffee plantation to be grown organically while minimizing — and in many cases eliminating — the need for chemical intervention.

Doka is one of the easiest coffee farms to visit near Poás, and the tour is very practical. They show every step of the process in the old, still-working mill, from the cherries to the drying patios. The guides know a lot about Costa Rican coffee varieties like Caturra and Catuai, and you can taste several roasts at the end. The place is simple, authentic, and very well organized.
