DOLCE TACUBO CAFFE

Located inside a shopping mall food court. Took us quite some time to find the store. Currently they only offer milk, salted caramel and mix flavour combination. While all the fuss about it, it’s a great disappointment. Other than the soft serve is made with a very picturesque shape, there is nothing special about it. With that price it’s a total overkill.

Tucked away in Daikanyama, Dolce Tacubo is a quiet cafe known for its beautifully crafted pastries. Their cream puff is a must-try — crisp on the outside with silky vanilla custard inside. And don’t miss the canelé: caramelized on the outside, soft and custardy within, with just a hint of rum. A perfect little stop for dessert lovers in Tokyo.

The financier is absolutely spot on – beautifully buttery with that perfect nutty caramelised edge 🔥🧈. The crisp outer shell adds a lovely texture. No wonder it’s so popular – it truly lives up to the hype! 👏 The puff, though, was a letdown 😕. The pastry top wasn’t fresh at all, and the custard cream had already burst out. I even saw the staff piping cream into them, and it was dripping everywhere 😬. Honestly, the presentation was pretty rough. As for the taste – the cream was thick and rich, a full-on custard bomb. Bit heavy after a few bites 😵‍💫. So yeah, I’d say the financier is definitely worth a try, but the puff… maybe think twice 👀.

Very impressive dessert plate. Seasonal panna cotta its really refreshing. Combine with sorbet and sansho ice its a really nteresting combination. I have never tried this kind of combination before. Friendly service. Tiramisu cream puff also taste very good. Different crust style. Cryspy with sparkles of chocolate ans coffee powder. Good pair with any tea. The downside is no privacy. Its an open space in the mall and next to the shop. Many people just walked by without privacy.

The soft serve here is incredible. Very light but so delicious. The pistachio and vanilla swirl was amazing with the chunks of pistachio in contrast to the soft rippled texture.

Delicious quality pastries and soft serve. The cream puffs in both flavors, custard and the tiramisu, are delicious!! The custard is so full of vanilla beans! The milk and coffee soft serve was rich, not exactly like Hokkaido milk rich, but rich enough for my taste. We enjoyed it very much. Dolce Tacubo never disappoints. Came here everyday for a week. The staff doesn’t speak English, but why should they, I am in their country and I don’t speak Japanese. I just had to point to all the items I wanted and they were very kind, friendly and patient with us.

This review is not for the cream puffs or the financiers, which are really good, having tried them at the Daikanyama outlet. Instead, this review is for the outrageously priced and absolutely disappointing soft serve. At ~¥1500 (sorry forgot the exact cost) for a pistachio soft serve, I expect to be enveloped in orgiastic creaminess, but here the soft cream itself is disappointingly thin and unmilky. It had the mouthfeel of skim milk. And with the exception of the fragrant toasted pistachio bits, the cream itself lacked any complex pistachio fragrances. Any pistachio ice cream at say, a high end gelato shop, or heck even a chain like Venchi, delivers better at a lower cost. They really need to up their game here. The pistachio soft serve was honestly so bad that I wouldn’t even get it at half the cost.
