Dollywood Is Celebrating 40 Years of Cinnamon Bread Fame

"One of the park’s resorts offers cinnamon bread at its grab-and-go cafe and makes warm loaves available via room service nearly any time of day; the resort uses the same recipe as the park outlets, so guests get an identical taste." - Megan duBois

Dolly Parton on Opening a Hotel Inspired by the Nature of the Great Smoky Mountains

"HeartSong Lodge & Resort, newly opened in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, is a tribute to the Great Smoky Mountains and Dolly Parton's childhood. The hotel features a four-story stone fireplace, monarch butterfly-shaped trusses, and sound machines that play soothing natural sounds. Guest rooms draw inspiration from the local fauna and flora, and many offer balconies with views of the wooded hills. The lodge also includes personal touches from Parton's life, such as her portrait and personal treasures displayed in the Acoustic Lobby."

For the cost you’d think the rooms would at least have a microwave and a place to eat! Our room is one king bed with a separate sleeping area for the kids. The room’s are smaller than I expected as they’re long and narrow instead of wide. Apparently, they want us to stack our trash on the floor because there is one small trash bin at the door and a tiny one in the bathroom. There’s a desk or something in the long hallway…not sure what that’s all about, but there’s two chairs there, so I guess that’s where they mean for folks to eat, because the “table” in here is like a sofa end table! Although it’s beautiful, there’s no bathtub. It’s a standing shower only and my sensory sensitive kid takes baths, so this should be a fun week of fighting him in the shower! Oh, and there’s ZERO clothing storage, so now I have to dig thru bags every day and night for myself and my kid. The curtains don’t block out ANY light, so if you need a nap you’d better bring your eye mask! There’s a sound machine in the room, but the plug doesn’t work. So…yeah, that’s all upon walking in and trying to unwind, but I guess there’ll be none of that this trip. Maybe it’s just this room, idk, I’ve only seen this one, as it’s our first time staying at a Dollywood resort. It’s a nice room, it’s all functional, but none of it is practical, especially for families. Such a bummer! I hope the other amenities are worth it, because we planned to do most of our eating in our room to save money, and I guess that’s not gonna happen either since we can only store junk and a very small amount of cold food…no frozen at all. I’m just so bummed so far and we haven’t even closed our eyes for the first night.

From start to finish a great two night stay. A helpful front desk that worked hard to quickly resolve an administrative mistake. Rooms were spacious and nicely appointed. ||The onsite restaurant was much better than many other theme park resort restaurants we have eaten over the years. (I would give it a 4 out of five.)||The resort itself is beautiful, well themed (without even a hint of theme park tackiness). A couple in search of a romantic weekend could be quite happy here.||We have stayed at both Dollywood resorts on multiple occasions and would recommend this one for those seeking a quieter experience and the Dreamore for those who prefer to be more in the middle of activity. The Dreamore also has better views from the rooms facing the Smokies.

This was our first visit to Dollywood so we wanted to stay at the resort for the full experience. I was extremely pleased with our stay at HeartSong. First, the hotel is beautiful; it really has a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and helpful our entire visit providing tips for the park and informing us of happenings at the hotel. Our room was great! We stayed in a junior suite with a balcony and there was ample room for all five of us. We really enjoyed being able to sit on the balcony and relax after a full day at the park. The pool was lovely and the area surrounding had these fantastic fire pits which, while in the open area, had been landscaped so you felt cozy with your group. OH! The food was amazing. The Ember and Elm was very good and our server was very attentive and friendly. We got a huge pretzel with beer cheese from the Songbird Market one afternoon for a snack and it was hot and fresh (and shockingly enough for five!). Additionally, the Songbird Market had excellent breakfast sandwiches and coffee which were a welcome start to our day. Despite how good the other food was, The Acoustic Lobby has my heart. But I am going to give that its own review. Safe to say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I can't say enough good things about HeartSong.

★★★★★ “A Perfect Blend of Appalachian Charm and Southern Hospitality”||From the moment we walked into HeartSong Lodge & Resort, we felt like we were being welcomed home. The warm smiles at check-in and genuine greetings from every staff member set the tone — true southern hospitality at its finest. What makes this resort stand out is how beautifully it reflects Appalachian culture while still offering all the modern comforts. The architecture, woodwork, and design elements create an authentic mountain lodge feel, yet everything is upscale and thoughtfully detailed.||Our room was spotless and perfectly designed for families. The bunk beds for the kids were a big hit, and we loved the extra touches like built-in charging stations and cozy seating areas. It’s the kind of place where you can truly unwind but also keep everyone comfortable and entertained.||The entertainment for the children was amazing as they always had activities. The pool was wonderful and had a nice splash pad for the little children. Nightly s’mores was a favorite. ||Also fast passes were given so consider that for saving money as well as free trolley over to Dollywood an early entrance into the Dollywood Park, which is a phenomenal park in itself. ||I was attending a conference during our stay, and I have to say this is one of the best venues I’ve experienced. The conference spaces were spacious, well-equipped, and managed with real professionalism. It’s rare to find a resort that balances family-friendly fun with the ability to host large groups and events seamlessly, but HeartSong nailed it. The food provided at the conference was some of the best I’ve ever experienced. On breaks nutritious fruits and vegetables were provided as well.||The food at Ember & Song was excellent — hearty, flavorful meals that matched the Appalachian theme. Breakfast buffets were generous, and dinners had a warm, home-cooked feel but with a refined twist. The atmosphere in the restaurant and lounge areas was inviting, perfect for catching up with colleagues or winding down with family after a long day.||Every corner of the resort radiates Dolly Parton’s vision of celebrating the mountains and the people who call them home. From the décor to the friendliness of the staff, it never felt commercialized — it felt authentic, like a heartfelt embrace of Appalachian tradition.||Whether you’re here for a family getaway, a romantic retreat, or a business conference, HeartSong Lodge offers an exquisite experience. It’s more than just a place to stay — it’s an experience that leaves you feeling enriched, relaxed, and connected to the culture of these mountains.||We can’t wait to return!

The rooms were very clean and well kept, the experience overall was pretty good of the hotel itself. One elevator stayed down for the duration of our trip, although the resort itself seems to be pretty new. I’d say this place is very nice but not luxury. It lacks the amenities and accommodations of a modern luxury hotel. Be weary of booking events here due to the staff not being very accommodating when it comes to the event ending and check outs. Our event ended at 11, however checkout was also at 11 making it a logistical nightmare full of anxiety considering the family wasn’t allowed at the event. But don’t worry, Lori at the front desk will rudely remind you if you forget.

The most beautiful, relaxing, clean and quiet resort hotel I’ve ever been in! Room was exceptionally clean and the bed was very comfortable. The AC unit was very quiet. Bathroom updated and beautiful. Even had a black “cosmetic” wash cloth for the ladies. Lots of towels in the bathroom that were refreshed daily. The room had a noise machine that just added a special touch to the whole room. The soft playing acoustic music throughout the resort made the atmosphere relaxing. The staff, wherever you encountered them were all very nice!! The food in the restaurant was very good!! Just the absolute best experience!! The details to make you comfortable, all around the resort , inside or outside are exceptional. Highly recommend! Worth every dime!!!! Will definitely be going back!

The HeartSong resort is absolutely beautiful, with rustic features that make it feel warm and inviting. We really enjoyed the pools, with an indoor pool, outdoor pool, hot tub, and splash pad. My only wish is that the outdoor pool had been heated. The nightly fire pits were such a nice touch, though sometimes they filled up quickly and it felt like people were competing for spots. My kids loved the nightly s’mores, but they were limited to one per person and only available between 7 and 8 pm. Extending the time or offering extras for purchase would have made it even better.||The hotel itself was spotless. Housekeeping refreshed our room daily, and everything felt clean and well taken care of. That said, we had four people in our room and were only provided three towels. I know I could have asked for more, but since the hotel knows room occupancy, it would have been nice not to have to. On the plus side, I absolutely loved the shampoo and body wash provided. I wish I had asked what brand it was so I could buy some to take home.||Other highlights included free self-parking, a small shop with merchandise, and the option of a shuttle to Dollywood with what I think was a timesaver pass included. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The resort does not offer mountain views, but it is located near Sevierville, TN, which has everything you might need. It is close to both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg without the heavy crowds, which we appreciated.||Where I was a little disappointed was the in-house restaurant. Prices were extremely high, and unfortunately the food just was not that good. Also, the beds were small, I believe full-size, and very firm, which made sleeping less comfortable.||Overall, we had a good stay. The resort has a lot to love, especially for families, but a few tweaks like a heated outdoor pool, a better s’mores setup, improved restaurant options, and more comfortable beds would really elevate the experience.

Out of the 2 Dollywood Resorts, Heartsong is our family favorite! It is breathtakingly beautiful and very "homey" feeling. We are Dollywood season pass holders so we love that you get a discount for that as well as the free TimeSaver passes. We also love utilizing the trolley to and from the park. The outdoor pool area is extremely nice, my girls love it. The food from the on site restaurant is wonderful as well. The price tag is high, but for the quality of room and the Dollywood perks that you get, it is 100% worth it.

Yelp
This stay has been incredible! Such a warm and calming environment, surrounded by nature. The manager Shawn is great and gave us a mini tour. We loved the chicken and dumplings!! The fire was a nice place to relax on a cold evening. There is an indoor and outdoor pool and plenty of games and activities! We will be back!

Yelp
I would not define this hotel as a resort, maybe the only resort link is the cost to stay. The Pro: 1) fridge is nice and cold The Con: 1) balcony doesn't have the view as described on website; 2) no complimentary water (WTH) nor complimentary coffee downstairs but you are free to make your own; 3) if you're a POC, some of the staff will not be as friendly nor welcoming (front desk and Honeysuckle store) 4) if you request or comment something when you book, don't expect them to read it nor follow through; 5) no door to the sink area of the bathroom, only the shower/toilet. TIP: visit the hotel (free parking) and walk around, but save your money and stay at a different hotel.

Yelp
No way to describe this place in words...if you enjoy the little details that make a stay, this is the place to be. If it is your birthday week let them know, you wont be disappointed. Lots of hidden gems and surprises. Yes the price is high, but we ended on tacking on another night we loved it so much. Indoor and outdoor pools and a very large hot-tub no kids under 16!! Woot woot. Seating everywhere, you don't feel crowded ever. The community fire-pit is gorgeous ALL the staff made you feel important Free shuttle ride to front of park. 5 free express passes each person for rides. One of My favorite parts Is if you are going to the theme park is when you purchase anything you let them know at the time of purchase and they will send it to the hotel for you. No carrying souvenirs around! Yes please and thank you.

Yelp
The resort is beautiful. The rooms are spacious! We had a balcony, big couch, huge comfy bed. I am surprised they don't have water in the rooms, that would've been nice for the coffee maker. I also wish the hot tub was open just a little longer, you get back to the resort after Dollywood closes and don't have enough time to soak. I will say it felt so special to come around the holidays to see it decorated with lights and Christmas trees. The acoustic lounge is gorgeous and love the vibe in there! First night we had dinner at the buffet at Dreammore, not normally a buffet person but this was a great buffet! Prime rib was delightful. The creamed spinach is probably the best I've had! The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. Roy was our server, he was great! The bartender Jenn who prepared our drinks prior to having dinner, she was also so sweet and drinks were delicious! The manager Jeremy, so nice, talk about southern hospitality, he came by to make sure everything was great, and it was! Also you have to get a picture with the Christmas tree outside the restaurant! Later that night, we went to the bar in Ember and Elm, Tasha was our bartender, she was also fantastic! Made amazing espresso martinis, great suggestions on late night bites- flat bread was so good! We did the mushroom one, highly recommend. The NYE set up was perfect for kids. Face painting, crafts, and a silent disco. Valet at both resorts are SO nice! So helpful. They will drive you from one resort to another. The trolley to the park makes staying there easy and convenient. With it being in the 30s, we thoroughly enjoyed them being heated. One of the drivers on our way to the park was a pretty big stickler on needing to see every single persons bracelet even the littles, while trying to put the stroller on the trolley and get everyone situated, it seemed a little silly to me but I understand that's her job. My one complaint which has nothing to do with the resort but unsure where to put it or whom to talk to, my mom needed a motorized wheelchair - she has issues with her feet and the gentlemen helping us, inside the park, was so incredibly rude. His name was Ron, apparently a team lead. My mom has a really difficult time walking, but she was embarrassed to get a wheelchair, we wanted her to enjoy her trip so we pushed for her to get one. I only mention that, because she was already timid about renting one. Ron did not make the process seamless or easy. I was actually surprised he felt comfortable being so rude while it was my mom, myself and my boyfriend all standing there, it was unnecessary and started our Dollywood day off on just an icky feeling. I'm sure Ron has dealt with a ton of rude people during the holidays and maybe just fed up, BUT you're in the wrong business if that's how you're going to conduct yourself when helping others at one of the most fun places on earth! Had I not had such a great experience with all the other ppl at the resort, I would've been turned off from coming back. Again, both resorts were fantastic and the room at Heartsong are fantastic!

New lodge themed hotel, friendly staff, hotel perks and no resort fees. You will find everything you need to enjoy a fun family vacation at this resort.

Yelp
I would like to give this resort at least a four star review because there are some wonderful things about the music played in the lobby and decor. However, I had a very hard time getting to sleep because the beds were uncomfortable. My pillows felt as hard as rocks and I left with a horrible crick in my neck (I am still nursing back to health). The actual beds are very hard as well. Sometimes my sleep is much better in even a three star hotel where the beds are much more comfortable. Disappointed that they wouldn't spend the money on people's better night sleep when it is the most expensive hotel to stay in around Pigeon Forge.

Yelp
The hotel is absolutely beautiful and spacious. The lobby is stunning with beautiful artwork and photos of Dolly! There sometimes live musicians walking around playing guitar and there is always guitar pop covers playing over the speakers. The rooms are stunning and super clean. They clean them everyday and it is exceptional. There are 2 restaurants in the hotel which are both really delicious and convenient. You can easily walk over to the DreamMore hotel as well which also has lots of delicious restaurants.. there is both an outdoor and indoor pool. The outdoor pool is stunning and super nice for hot summer days. All the staff is super friendly and helpful. The fitness center is incredible there is various cardio, machines, dumbbells, a bench and a cable machine. Overall I had an incredible hotel experience.

Yelp
We just left the HeartSong Lodge and had the most wonderful time there. Friendly customer service, easy access to Dollywood, and we love the family style rooms they offer with the fun bunk bed option for my little one. We had a wonderful long weekend and look forward to coming back!

Yelp
We had an amazing stay. New property, absolutely beautiful. It fits in as it's tucked into the Smokey Mountain foot hills. Akon to 5 star resorts. Not as crowded and busy as a Disney resort. Totally family friendly. Staff is superb. Welcoming and attentive. We will definitely go back! For $$475 / night, there should be a coffee station open 24/7. This place is perfect for a family get away- the park and so many activities. 20 minutes from Gatlinburg.

Yelp
All I can say is wow! It is beautiful and clean. The views are amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Yelp
We just spent fall break at DollyWood and stayed at the HeartSong. Everything was WONDERFUL! Friendliest staff, great food and very clean! Shaun was our bell hop he was so professional and kind. Clayton the hotel manager went over and above to help us with a car issue. The lifeguard at the indoor pool jumped in to save my kids when their game of Dolphin went bad. The lifeguard still had on his clothes and shoes. Everything was great. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Booked a King Dormer with a pullout, but we didn't figure out how to use said pullout. Our room is pretty nice. They have these leather strap details on the bedpost and mirror. There is the strange addition of carpet with hardwood imbedded i to the floor, but it didn't off put me too much. It was nice to not feel cold floor in the morning. The TV here compared to the one at the DreamMore is much bigger and a bit nicer. When you turn on the TV, it says the name the room is reserved under. Connected to the stand is a cushioned bench to sit on, with a cabinet underneath for extra bedding. If you don't feel warm, the extra bedding has a fleece blanket. Two things that knocked the star off: - While the staff can be extremely friendly, when we asked the cleaning lady for the bed to be clean with extra towels, we noticed that all she had done was take out the garbage, give us extra towels, and remake the bed, because the syrup my boyfriend accidentally spilled on the blanket was still there when we got back. Didn't feel bad enough about it to complain, because the spot wasn't huge. - The second issue: The Songbird Market. To start this off, I do want to say that Dollywood did try to rectify it? We were called on the phone once, no one said anything, and when we were told they would call back, no one ever did, so they half tried. I had went to go get a soda for the freestyle Coke machine, on their menu it says regular or large, so I tell the young woman behind the counter I want a regular cup for the machine, to which she gets snippy and says, "Well actually a small." I say back that I was just reading off the menu the size that it said, which she responds, "Yeah? Well, it's still gonna be a small." I'm sure written out this doesn't sound that bad, but when you take her tone into account and the fact I was NEVER arguing with her, it puts a bad taste in my mouth. No resolution, it put a damper on the afternoon because I felt bad for the way she had spoken to me, but I also felt like I was being sensitive because nobody got back to me. Not sure what I wanted, but an "I'm sorry" would have been good. You shouldn't talk to people like that, and not expect to be called out on it. Amenity wise, the indoor pool is nice, but not very deep, 4 ft all the way around except for the 3 ft you enter in. It isn't heated, because I felt frigid in the pool. No word on what the outdoor pool was like, but the hot tub was wonderful. Given, it felt kind of dirty. The bottom of the floor of it had grit and dirt and people's hair floating around. Overall, interacting with front desk staff, cleaning staff, and the trolley people made it an enjoyable experience. People are kind. The service workers are always top notch and give a nice experience.

Yelp
Imo, best family resort hotel in the USA, with a lot of creature comforts, tech, and architectural aesthetics that make you feel well-placed into a luxurious, giant and outdoorsy family-oriented getaway. It probably helps that they finished construction in Nov 2023. The over-sized fire pit in the back seats more than 21 people, and they have 4-seater fire pits interspersed throughout the courtyard, for a more private experience. Posterior to the beautiful fire pits rests a huge gated outdoor pool with several cabanas, plenty of areas to sun bathe, and plenty of areas to read a book, under a parasol. The board games room has a retractable glass wall, allowing you to be indoors and outdoors at the same time. If you like duck breast, their in-house restaurant Ember & Elm makes a really good medium-rare delight. Complements to the chef. What a great place to relax after a day or more of accumulating upwards of 15000 steps/day, in the Dollywood theme park and water park, complete with southern hospitality. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
It's supposed to be a new resort but it feels old. The decor in the rooms feels old. Such a drastic difference from the quality of Dreammore. Very disappointed and it cost more than Dreammore. The outside grounds were nice and they had cute outdoor activities, but the room interiors leave much to be desired. Mismatched wood floors, cheap looking platform beds. Just so disappointed for an expensive couple of days. Plus the employees in the market shop were not helpful nor friendly. People were so rude including the trolley driver. I literally almost cried. We used to love Dollywood.

LaVerene G.

Yelp
The facility is lovely. However, the hallway near our room was full of smoke from forest fires. We had to check out a night early because of the air quality. They did discount our bill. But it really made our stay miserable.

Yelp
We haven't gotten to the park yet but are very disappointed in how the reservations are handled. I was told to reserve our rooms and to purchase a gold pass when available. With the gold season pass we were told we would get a 15% discount on all rooms. Season passes were just available so I purchased one and called to have it applied to my rooms but was told the price would go up. When you apply the season pass it's with current room rates regardless if you have a reservation! Classic bait and switch! So disappointed!

S R.

Yelp
The hotel is relatively new and quite pretty. Very wide hallways. Good signage. Lots of cozy seating in public areas on main floor. Indoor pool was nice, staffed with 2 lifeguards. In order to reach our room, we had to use an elevator bank that was far from all of the hotel amenities (pools, back porch) rather the main elevator bank near those amenities. That was very annoying. Our guest room, with two queen beds (no balcony) was tastefully appointed with thoughtful touches (including large mirrors, as well as a good amount of outlets and ports), but there were some strange quirks. For one thing, there were no towel hooks near the sink. Also, no cup was provided for brushing your teeth. There were only a handful of handicap parking spaces in a very large parking lot and we were forced to park some distance away from the resort. Check-in was listed on the website at 4:00pm but our room inexplicably wasn't ready until after 5:00 pm. Front desk staff didn't seem to be all that knowledgeable about the theme parks, which was very surprising. Having the trolley access to/from the theme parks was a wonderful perk (they ran approximately every 20 minutes and the drivers were very friendly), as were the included timesaver passes. However, if you're planning to visit the parks at a non-peak time, I'm not so sure that staying here is worth the steep price given the abundance of decent hotels in the immediate area.
