Dolphin House Museum / $20 per person

I had a marvelous experience talking with Sir Ashley Saunders, Yes, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II ..He is also a Poet, and a writer. and he built this very unique place ny himself to honor the dolphins that once saved his life... as he told me, he was somewhere in the ocen and he fell asleep, then somehow out of nowhere some dolphins came and woke him up, he was so grateful with them that he decided to build them this house to remember them forever, and make people aware of how marvelous and intelligent these creatures are. Anyways, I recommend this place if you are in the island. It is fun and entertaining... It is full of Ocean mementos, shells of all kinds, starfishes, and many many other things, that he collected through the years.

Open the windows to that warm Bahamian breeze. Wake up surrounded by art built from the very bones of the sea. In a world of cookie cutter resorts, this is the opposite. This is authentic. This is passion. This is one man deciding to create something beautiful out of whatever he had in front of him. If you’re the kind of traveler who craves meaning, culture, creativity, and a story you can tell forever… this belongs on your list. This was a unique stop on a cultural tour we booked through our Virgin cruise. We met the owner/builder, heard some of his story about building the house from things he found, and then toured the property - including a couple of rooms that were in progress to become vacation rental rooms. They had a variety of souvenirs available for purchase and let us look everywhere. The view from the roof was beautiful. It is definitely a unique place to see, but I don’t think we would’ve visited on our own for $20 a person.

SIR Ashley Saunders was a great host. Amazed that he crafted and built the Dolphin House himself from found/recycled materials. There is a Hemingway room and we were honored that he pasted our dollar on the wall in there.

This is home an amazing work of art that continues to be built by hand, piece by piece! Learning about the Artist and local pieces of history that went into building this home was so cool! Must see while in Bimini!

We spent 90mins embraced in the world of a man who has seen and experienced much in his 80yrs and who has accepted the significance of everything. I would return for a visit to see what has changed and to hear more. On your first or subsequent visits, consider bringing an artifact of appreciation to contribute to the ongoing construction: an earring, some interesting metal, pottery, or glass. Someone shipped 100lbs of tile. Sir Ashley has salvaged so much from the island and the sea to create and to share this memorable and historic stop. Knighthood embodied and unequivocal. His sister is cool too. Thank you.

The Dolphin House in Bimini is an incredible and unique place. It’s amazing to know it was built by just one man with one shovel, using recycled materials and pure dedication. Many people assume he’s missing a digit because of the work he’s done—but he isn’t, which makes the story even more impressive. The house is full of color, creativity, and island spirit, and it’s absolutely a must-see in Bimini. 🌊🐬

This museum is a must see when visiting Bimini. There is so much to see and so much detail in the work. I know when I visit again, there will be things I didn't notice or realize the first time. Dominic was a great guide and is very knowledgeable about the whole building and it's history. This stop was definitely a highlight of our trip.
