This hostel is an amazing place to stay! It’s clean, cozy, and just a short walk from both the beach and the town center. The rooms are comfortable and cleaned daily. It’s super easy to make friends with other backpackers, every one is friendly and there’s a great vibe. What really stood out to me is how supportive the staff are. They helped me find farm work and even lent me a van to reach the job sites, which was incredibly helpful. I genuinely recommend this place to anyone traveling through. I had a really great experience here. I stayed for a long time and was able to make many friends. The hostel caretaker, Alex, was incredibly helpful in daily life. I will definitely book again when I return to Bunbury.

The hostel itself it’s not the best. Not good beds, not the cleanest… They put Vans so workers without a car can go to work tho, that’s really nice. People are the best part of the hostel. People usually stays for long term, and that creates a very familiar ambient. Not the best hostel I’ve been, but there’re no many options. Anyway, I ended up liking it.

Very disappointing experience. Management is poor and dismissive—when I showed the manager mould, she insisted it wasn’t mould without even checking properly. Prices keep going up with no clear reason. They also promise to help you find a job, but that never happened. Worst of all, the owner tried to cause problems for me over parking. I was stopped in front of the gate for just 3 minutes, and he called my employer, falsely claiming I was there for half an hour and that I swore at him. Completely unprofessional behavior. Also, be careful with the tap water—it comes out extremely hot and could easily cause burns. Definitely not safe, especially if children are around

I spend about 6 months in this hostel. It was a good experience and a lot of people who stayed there think the same. This is a great place if you are looking for work (also 2nd year visa work) and staying a little longer. People at reception are happy to help you find something.

I’ve been staying at Dolphin Retreat Hostel in Bunbury and have had a positive experience. The staff are friendly. It's conveniently located near the beach and local shops. Plus, it's a great place to meet international travelers, making it a social and welcoming spot. A comfortable place to stay if you're in the area. Located a short to the city centre of Bunbury one way and a short walk to the beach to other way the Hostel has the location set. It looks like it has been a house converted into a hostel, not your made to measure hostel built from the ground up to be a hostel. Rooms are spread out around the place, some at the front and some towards the back. Mixed dorms and women only dorms plus a private room here and there. TV lounge area in the main building and also one located out the back for watching late night TV during designated quiet times. Showers and bathrooms towards the back of the hostel not in room, the rooms are typical dorm style - place to put your bag and a bed to sleep in. Linen proved but there is a laundry. WiFi is available but not free. A couple of computers are in the common area but most people I see as I look around have mobile data running hot. Vending machines are near the pool table. THE POOL TABLE IS FREE. Parking is available out back and the gate is locked at night, breakfast served between 8-10 am The kitchen is a reasonable size with quite a few fridges. There are brochures on YHA hostels around OZ and a map of WA with YHA's marked for those travelling. Look, it is not the greatest hostel I have stayed in by a long shot. If you expect the ritz standards then you will be disappointed. It does it's job being a place to stay when you don't want to spend much, won't stop me staying at YHA.
