I’ve been staying at Dolphin Retreat Hostel in Bunbury and have had a positive experience. The staff are friendly. It's conveniently located near the beach and local shops. Plus, it's a great place to meet international travelers, making it a social and welcoming spot. A comfortable place to stay if you're in the area. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a budget-friendly option in Bunbury.

I had the pleasure of staying at Dolphin Retreat Bunbury, and it turned out to be so much more than just a place to sleep. The staff here are incredibly friendly and supportive—they helped me with valuable advice that led to me finding a job in the area! Their willingness to guide and connect guests with local opportunities is something you don’t find everywhere. The hostel also offers extra perks that made my stay even more rewarding. I was able to use one of theirs vans to drive to work. The facilities are clean, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the location is super convenient for exploring the city or handling day-to-day needs. I highly recommend Dolphin Retreat Bunbury if you’re looking for a supportive and community-oriented place to stay.

I spend about 6 months in this hostel. It was a good experience and a lot of people who stayed there think the same. This is a great place if you are looking for work (also 2nd year visa work) and staying a little longer. People at reception are happy to help you find something.

As an older couple we were looking for a quieter style hostel to book a double room for 5 days. This place exceeded our expectations. The lady (sorry I forgot your name) who checked us in was wonderful and made sure the place was spotless every morning. Daniella also did a great job of assisting us where needed, kept the place very tidy, safe and was she really friendly. There were a few people who have been staying for a longer period than most and they were all very friendly and made the place feel more like a home than a backpackers. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will likely stay again without hesitation.

Unfortunately not what I expected. Small rooms and dirty common areas especially the kitchen

Honestly that was an awful hostel. The owner got me work within the first day which was pretty decent and I am grateful for this. However the hostel is crawling with ants. The hostel is tiny and the rooms smell awful. Of course this is due to the working backpackers however the rooms are maintained very poorly by the staff. Pots and pans never cleaned up. Very expensive for such a basic hostel. Hostel in very good location, near the beach but that's about the only positive point for this hostel. The owner Ian and his wife are useless with anything that's not work related. If I were you I wouldn't risk going to this hostel even if you need work. Waste of time and space. Ps be mindful that the other hostel, the wonder inn is also run by the same people and is just as bad. Would not advise going to either. Honest review, save yourself the time and money.

This hostel was a mixed review for us. We often stay at hostels when bike touring. The staff was very good. They manager met us outside of normal reception hours to let us in. The room was tidy and clean as were the bathrooms. The kitchen was not as clean but was adequate. The problem we had was with the noise level at night. The smoke alarm was beeping all afternoon and night. We reported it late afternoon and was assured that bit would be fixed by that night but it was not. It kept us awake a good part of the night. We were also woke up around 5 am by people moving around. Our room was right next to the stairs and the foot noise was very loud. All in all we would stay there again in a pinch but probably give it a skip if there were other options.

Expensive at $78 per night for a private room - more expensive than in Perth CBD. No working cooker when we stayed. Also I’ve never stayed in a hostel where large (loud) family groups are allowed to stay, the youngest being 3/4 years old. No hostel environment at all. I got the impression they’re long term guests too, quite odd. Lady on reception was pleasant, seemed to be the only person working there as she was back cleaning in the morning.

Yelp
Located a short to the city centre of Bunbury one way and a short walk to the beach to other way the Hostel has the location set. It looks like it has been a house converted into a hostel, not your made to measure hostel built from the ground up to be a hostel. Rooms are spread out around the place, some at the front and some towards the back. Mixed dorms and women only dorms plus a private room here and there. TV lounge area in the main building and also one located out the back for watching late night TV during designated quiet times. Showers and bathrooms towards the back of the hostel not in room, the rooms are typical dorm style - place to put your bag and a bed to sleep in. Linen proved but there is a laundry. WiFi is available but not free. A couple of computers are in the common area but most people I see as I look around have mobile data running hot. Vending machines are near the pool table. THE POOL TABLE IS FREE. Parking is available out back and the gate is locked at night, breakfast served between 8-10 am The kitchen is a reasonable size with quite a few fridges. There are brochures on YHA hostels around OZ and a map of WA with YHA's marked for those travelling. Look, it is not the greatest hostel I have stayed in by a long shot. If you expect the ritz standards then you will be disappointed. It does it's job being a place to stay when you don't want to spend much, won't stop me staying at YHA.
