"Dolphin Watch Carrigaholt The boat heads out into the silver-green water. I haven't brought the right jacket, so Susanne Magee, the co-owner of Dolphin Watch, brings me a thick, cozy one. We had out into the area where the Shannon River meets the Atlantic, to see some of the 160 bottle-nosed dolphins that live in the Shannon Estuary. Susanne and her husband Geoff named their boat Draiocht (magic) to be able to bring the magic of dolphin spotting to the public. Whenever one of the dolphin's gray backs are spotted, a cry of happiness rises up from the people in the boat. Tours are two hours and cost 25 Euro for adults, 12.50 Euro for children 5 to 16, and 5 Euro for children 5 and under. Phone: 353 659058156 for reservations."

This was one of the highlights of our trip! My kids LOVED it. Mary Kate knew so much about the area and dolphins and happily answered my kids endless questions. Really appreciated the way she explained EcoTourism to them too.

Absolutely enjoyed the Dolphin watch with my mother in law. Great activity for people of all ages. The staff on board were knowledgeable and talked through the flora and fauna. We saw loads of dolphins. I love Carrigaholt.

Beautiful and informative trip in Shannon estuary aboard comfortable boat. Saw several pods of bottlenose dolphins up close. Also shown impressive local geology. Nice cup of tea on boat too.

Yelp
This was a fabulous experience. We booked via phone and the ticket pickup and boarding process was easy. During our journey, we saw many dolphins (jumping, chasing the boat, riding along with the boat's bow), a seal, many birds, and numerous historical sites in the area. The crew was made up of the captain and 2 resident zoologists. They walked around the boat during the tour answering questions, providing insight, and telling stories about the area. They (Mary Kate and Deb) made the trip great. Highly recommend!
