Domaine de Chalvêches (Faugères, Occitanie) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"With its dramatic gorges and rock formations, volcanic springs, and terraced vineyards, Ardèche is a hidden gem in the south of France; it’s also where you’ll find the extraordinary Domaine de Chalvêches, set on a tranquil wooded property outside the tiny village of Faugères. In warmer weather, it has a lovely outdoor pool and terrace overlooking views of the surrounding greenery, while the spa, housed in a refurbished 19th-century stone tower and featuring a sauna, Jacuzzi, and hammam, is open year-round. Guest rooms are cheerfully decorated with nature photography, colorful mosaics, and eclectic art and objects from all over the globe. Some have exposed stone walls and walk-in showers; all have Nespresso machines and private terraces with views of the valley." - Tablet Hotels

A fantastic experience, excellent breakfast, fabulous view from the restaurant and from the pool. A very quiet location and very well equipped rooms, hotel rooms or separated houses. The Spa offers the same view. We had dinner every day and the food was delicious with local products and a nice choice of wines.

A lovely place for a break, but best when it is not full as the pool area becomes overcrowded. Worthy of note is they like to play loud music by the pool (despite the fabulous natural surroundings). Spoilt the pool area for us. The restaurant offering is pretty good.

Quite disappointing for the price. The hotel itself is set on a beautiful hillside with great views and a relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and have some nice amenities. The hot-tubs on the room decks are a stand out feature. The pool area is also fantastic with a decent sized pool, good views, and a convenient pool side bar. I've removed one star for the lack of small detail in the rooms: - The cups/mugs in the room are tiny. I'm not sure who enjoys their morning tea or coffee in a shot glass, because I don't. - There is no bin in the room which is incredibly strange and very annoying. - The table inside the room has 4 chairs, and our room could comfortably sleep 4 people. However, the outside table only had 2 chairs... Are the other two people supposed to stand? - No WiFi password written anywhere I've removed another star for the restaurant. It looks great on first appearance. However, it was mediocre at best. The waiters clearly need more training and are a bit uninterested. They're also wearing France branded polo shirts which are a very weird choice for a "fancy" restaurant. The food itself was not good. Chewy/fatty meat which was either raw or cooked into a rubber flip-flop, and nearly everything was bland and unseasoned. For the price we paid, we were very disappointed. Best to bring your own food from the local village and have a picnic in your room (but bring a bin bag for the rubbish)!

What was meant to be an extension of a weekend trip ended up being a sensational mini holiday. We chose the hotel because of its secluded location and what it had to offer, and our expectations were more than exceeded. As most of the other guests were exploring the area for hiking, we had the hotel, phenomenal pool and relaxing spa area to ourselves most of the time. The dinner on the terrace with breathtaking views also left nothing to be desired. The room (in the main house) was more than spacious and very stylishly furnished. ||||The owners, service and chef were also more than friendly and helpful. ||We loved every second with you and enjoyed it to the fullest. Heartfelt thank you.

We stayed here for a couple of nights and would definitely recommend it. The accommodation is high quality and comfortable as well as being very quiet and relaxing. The evening meal was delicious and the pool area felt luxurious, but was also quiet and comfortable. The position is a little remote but we enjoyed going for a walk down the country lanes, with little traffic or disturbance. We will return if visiting the Ardeche next year.

Incredible seclusion and spectacular views. Lovely pool area and large room with nice balcony. Good bar offering an impressive selection of drinks and wines. Really nice meal in the evening. Nice breakfast. A gym would have been good.|

Dis over the pleasure and the luxus if a serie of lodge in the hills of Ardèche. The lodges are very pleasant with a Private terrasse to enjoy the d'un down with a drink. The only comment will be the jack of efficient curtains to have a dark room. The swimming polls are with a great view on the surrounding places. On evening we have enjoy some grill plates. A place to go for a nice week-end

Beautiful place but lacks in the details We just stayed at this domaine for 3 nights. Overall a 3-star experience for us. Lets start with a positive note. What a beautiful spot they created in the middle of the nature in the Ardèche. Great view from the swimming pool and our balcony. In general the room was really pretty, with a great bathroom and big balcony. Also the welcoming was warm and friendly. Some improvements we saw where in the details. - Except for one staff member. No one was able to speak English. The guy who helped & served us didn’t even try. Also check-out was totally in French which made it hard to discuss the bill (which had a mistake) I decided to leave it. - The bed was hard and nog really comfy - Our room was hot well sound proof so you could hear doors opening/closing and other noise. - Overall disproportionately priced. E.g. Beer/Cappuccino for €6 or 0.5L water for €4. Also the food in the restaurant was overpriced for just ok quality. And since the hotel is in the middle of nowhere you feel a bit bounded to the facilities of the hotel. So, overall we had a good stay, but given the high prices we will think twice of going again.
