Domaine de Manville, Alpilles Regional Park, Provence, France - Explore & Book

"Nestled between the hills of the Alpilles, on a 100-acre estate surrounded by olive and cypress trees, you’ll find a gorgeous reinvented farmhouse. Some call it a tranquil spa hotel, a place for romantic respite, others a golf resort, some an atmospheric foodie’s retreat. All we know is that once we arrived, we didn’t want to leave. Owners Edith and Patrick worked with heritage architects to design an authentic space that makes you instantly feel at home, imbued with a family spirit, yet is utterly spoiling. Warmth and style radiate from every corner, and there’s a beautiful mix of modern sculpture and traditional French design pieces. The 30 immaculate rooms and suites exemplify unpretentious luxury with crisp bedding, twin sinks, power showers and walk-in wardrobes. There's an additional clutch of contemporary villas which share a lap pool and have long views over the countryside. If that wasn’t enough, this super-chic hotel comes complete with the country’s first eco-certified golf course, a pampering spa, and a restaurant so spectacular that thinking about it makes our stomachs rumble. Oh, and did we mention the vast outdoor pool shaded by cypress trees, the elegant courtyard with fountain, the best cocktail bar in the region, the bistro, the private cinema for cosy winter evenings, and miles of private walking trails bordered by wild flowers? Hello happiness! Highs An exceptional location in the heart of the Alpilles (pine and cypress forests, mountains, olive groves and vineyards) and near the spectacular historic village of Les Baux-de-Provence Provençal paradise for couples; dine a deux in the Michelin-starred restaurant or book a couples massage Children will find heaven, too, with a kids club run from gypsy caravans in the woods, a large pool, and kids menus Courteous, friendly staff who are full of excellent recommendations Sustainability and social responsibility are taken seriously, including the 3-month hospitality training programme for locals and N.African migrants Lows Upscale places mean upscale prices, and breakfast isn't included. Minibars are complimentary however, a nice touch The restaurant is closed Tuesdays and Wednesday but the bistro is open every day You’ll want a car to explore the region properly There can be day trippers visiting the golf course, especially on weekends" - Emily McDonnell

Domaine de Manville (Les Baux de Provence, French Riviera / Provence) 4 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"At first blush, traditional Provençal homesteading and a luxe-boutique service mentality might seem diametrically opposed; not so. It takes a special type, though — namely, a family like the Sauts, Edith and Patrick, who have made it their mission to resolve the paradox, as it were. They couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate staging ground: here, in 1908, one Louis-Alexandre Blanc de Manville realized his architectural and agricultural vision with a sprawling farm estate, complete with cypresses, stately plane trees, and a series of grand stone edifices enclosing the requisite central courtyard. More than a century later, the resurrected Domaine de Manville wears that heritage proudly beneath an array of contemporary upgrades." - Tablet Hotels

The setting is very nice and the rooms are good, well sized and comfortable, as are the bathrooms. The main restaurant L'Aupiho serves very good and fancy food in a formal setting but costs over 200 Euros per head. If you don't want to spend that much money then you are left with the dreadful Bistro. The prices are fair in theory but the food is a big let down. The food is either badly designed (tastes that just does not go together) or dishes that are just tasteless and badly cooked. I will spare you the details. The write up (sublime food) is just nonsense. Never again. The other problem is the pool; full of noisy young children (and their noisy parents) so forget any thought of relaxation. The pool tiles are also shredding so uncomfortable under foot. In all very overpriced for what it is. There are 2 or 3 far better and true 5 star hotels within a 5 minute drive. I cannot comment on the golf.

The wonderful setting in the provencial landscape and the always ready staff are the best of the Domaine de Manville. With all the beauty - it still feels very relaxed. Is even in the middle of the high season a place to retreat and recharge while staying acitive on the Golf Course, in the Pool, on the hikes around the premises. And never miss a dinner at l‘Aupiho. It is a culinary experience and a pampering of all our senses. We just left - but already think when we might be able to go back….

For the fourth time we went to Domaine de Manville, and again we enjoyed it a lot. The resort offers great serenity and intimacy, at the same time you can play golf, use the great Spa and visit the very good restaurants, including the one with the Michelin star, enjoy the swimming pool and charming environment and of course, the comfortable rooms with even more comfortable beds. Last but not least, state of the art service was offered by all personnel we have met. Customer care is really at the highest level, in a very pleasant manner.

Amazing beautiful resort! We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa which was incredibly spacious and came with a golf cart. Restaurants were all excellent. We all loved this place and would love to go back. Great for families— our kids are 12,10 and 8.|Close to the town and castle for exploring

We loved our time staying in one of the villas at Domaine de Manville. The accommodations were beautiful and the service was top notch. I'm writing this review specifically to show our appreciation to Gael the concierge and John from Avignon, the bellman. Gael helped us throughout our stay, made reservations on our behalf, and was a pleasure to interact with. John took us to the village of Les Baux one night and we loved it there so much we stayed past the time of the latest pickup. We didn't know that it is very difficult to get an Uber from Les Baux at night and our phone wasn't working. After failing to get in touch with us, John drove into Les Baux, after his shift was over no less and asked around town in attempt to find us and get us back to the hotel safely. We were fine and had gotten lucky to find a ride but that was such a nice gesture and a great example of how well you are treated at the resort. Our kids loved it and we can't wait to go back!

Beautiful hotel in a wonderful setting. The duplex suite was immaculate with a wonderful bathroom. Services were good and food was amazing either at the bistro, bar or restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and how we were looked after by the staff who were incredibly attentive. Recommend highly.

This was our third year visiting Domaine de Manville as a family of 4, and stayed in one of their Deluxe Villas. We cannot recommend it enough. The property is absolutely stunning, and the staff is lovely. We enjoy every aspect of the property: pool, concierge, breakfast, brunch (the best in all of Provence), golf, spa. It doesn't get any better.

We went for lunch at Bistro De L'aupiho Domaine De Manville. Unfortunately, the food was not up the standard we would have expected from a 5 * hotel and a sister eatery of a Michelin * restaurant. The Provençal tart was dry and extremely salty. The peach dessert had an odd aftertaste. The service was extremely poor. Curtains swayed and hit our table, my daughter and me several times and all the glasses and plates nearly went flying and we luckily caught it in time before everything went smashing to the floor. This was overseen by the waitress who just watched and did nothing. I would not recommend this bistro. The food was substandard and service appalling. When I mentioned this to the staff they did nothing. Overall a very poor experience for a lunch for 2 adults and a child costing over €190 without alcohol.
