Domaine Du Vieux Couvent

Had dinner the food was very good, the presentation of the plates also very good. Only too bad the service was not very good. At the prices paid and the dishes offered the service should have been better. Location is beautiful but there are better places to eat. Nonetheless putting some photos of our plates here. we had the seafood pasta and the beef cheeks.

Beautifully kept rooms, and an impressive and picturesque location over the water. Restaurant has an excellent location and view. The staff are the real highlight here however. So kind, so accommodating. Can't wait to go back!

Was excited to try this restaurant as I had heard good things about the food and service. Our server was ill and coughing. The cod fritters were in a thick gummy so called mango sauce. The mussels were soaking in salt water…. No hint of white wine or shallots. There is no way you could soak up the juice…. My lips stung after eating these they were so salty. The grilled Caesar salad was soaking in a mayo laden dressing with minimal lettuce that one could not taste. Yet to have the seafood linguine for $48 but I feel like leaving now as the food is subpar. Our hotel restaurant “Accents” was far superior re presentation, service and food quality.

I have two reviews for this place...the restaurant and the Inn. Both are great. ||We stayed here 11 yrs ago for our honeymoon...the return trip did not disappoint. The place has had a major renovation to the bar/restaurant. Much bigger than before with amazing water views from almost every seat. Best view in town.||The restaurant offers a simple yet tasty breakfast menu to guests of the Inn only. |Dinner, while mid to high priced, was excellent. We tried a series of appetizers to taste as much variety as possible. The ceasar salad with smoked herring was unique and a tasty surprise. Our highlight was the the Thai basil seafood chowder...highly reccomended.||The Inn has beautiful sea views from every room but we recommend the Valons d'Acadie or Les Amicalists...amazing views of the ocean.||The front desk staff were the same as our last visit and were very attentive to details and to our visit to the Islands.

We stopped on the island for one night on our way to Newfoundland and chose this hotel due to its proximity to the airport. Wished we had stayed longer! Beautiful room and views and the restaurant was top notch. I will be coming back to îles de la madeleine someday and wouldn’t hesitate to book here again!

We stayed four nights at this hotel. It is a small 11 room converted convent. The building conversion is well done adding very modern room facilities while maintaining and even displaying the heritage features of the building. Nice job! There is no elevator but staff were more than willing to carry our suitcases up the stairs. Rooms are spacious with excellent bathroom and shower facilities. Hotel is only 5 minutes from the airport. Hotel has an adjoining restaurant and overlooks the sea with nice views. Staff are cheerful and friendly and always willing to help answer our questions. Most importantly, a relaxing place to stay. Good experience and we would return.

Spent a week this past July there with my wife. The room was very clean and kept that way throughout our stay by excellent house keeping staff and the bed felt like heaven!! Having a dining room right downstairs was a pleasant addition and allowed us to try out several dishes during our stay.The breakfasts are fancy but not exactly filling.Their best menu is for evening and then they pull out all the stops! Portions were generous, the food prepared to perfection and the service impeccable. The fantastic view overlooking the water and spectacular sunsets are just an added bonus. It should be noted however, that there is no staff there during the over night hours. Not certain what would happen in an emergency. Also, the owner is looking to sell, the potential new owners look promising and thus things may well change in the future. I hope the new owners make this hotel even better!!

We stayed for two nights a few weeks ago, and if we ever return this is where we'll stay. I wish we could have stayed longer! An utterly charming inn. We had one of the smaller rooms and it was just fine. Husband says it was the best bathroom of the 15 different places we stayed on our long road trip, and I agree. Bed very comfy - we both slept through the night. We ate dinner there both nights as well. Ended up buying a few wine glasses to take home as souvenirs! Honestly, the islands are a dream and the Couvent only made our visit even more magical. Thanks for a wonderful time.

As I reside in Quebec, I have been asked many times - "Have you visited Magdalena Islands?". They are just east off the coast of Prince Edward Island. So here I am, and best way to adventure on the island is, of course, tasting all the local culinary delights. After good recommendations from the locals, we chose this restaurant and came in on a Saturday evening in mid August - which seems to be their busiest season. Luckily we had booked our table days prior. Domaine du Vieux Couvent Is a medium class restaurant and working hard to become a classy one. We arrived at 5.35pm and the last main dish was served at 7.40pm. (Nice features on phone to capture exact location and time of every picture you take). So be prepared for a long wait, and I guess that's why they serve bread and butter when they hand out the menu. Luckily for us, we had ordered wine and were in good company. BTW, we poured our own wine, as the waiter was too busy. As we did so, we spilled some drops on the table. Not a big deal, as we just swiped them away with our napkins - hence the reason why there isn't any table cloth. (I think). We ordered mainly seafood and they were all delicious, especially the mussels. The sauce was well prepared, rich with flavours. Perhaps, not the kind of food if you were on a restricted diet. Pricey for what we ordered, but fortunately we were invited and were guests at the table.
