Domes Zeen Chania, a Luxury Collection Resort, Crete (Crete, Greek Islands) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s hard to go really wrong with the islands of Greece, but it’s equally hard to do much better than this. Domes Zeen Chania, on the northwest coast of Crete, is not only blessed with a spectacular natural setting — it’s also outfitted with top-flight luxury comforts, and thanks to its designers, the Berlin-based Lambs and Lions, it’s one of the most aesthetically distinguished hotels in the region, its modernist geometries warmed by natural textures and warm, earthy neutral tones." - Tablet Hotels

Excellent hotel, built into a hillside. Reception at the top and the rooms (bungalows) on several levels running down to the poolside and restaurants. A short walk from there (30 secs) takes you to the private beach area. Designed in a wooden based/ eco fashion - the rooms are well designed and comfortable. The larger ones have private pools as well. Pool area is well served and pool is 40 m long. Staff team is very good, very polite, helpful, young and knowledgable. We did half board and food was very good with a good choice and vary day by day. Good poolside service. Our room was on level 5 and just 30-40 seconds walk from the restaurant and pool area. Hotel is 12-15 mins drive from Chania and we also walked in - just 30 mins walk alongside the beach into the old town in Chania. Enjoyed a restful 10 days in late October/early November - leaving as they closed down for the winter season. Definitely one of our hotels on the go again list.

Thanks again to the amazing staff at Domes Zeen who made us feel welcome at any time of day. It was exceptional! We arrived quite late (9.30pm) but were given the chance to have a late dinner immediately upon arrival after a quick check-in. The half board option that we booked did not dissapoint: buffet breakfast or a la carte breakfast and a 3-course lunch or dinner were included. The options vary a bit from day to day (and yes, after a few days there was repetition, which was totally fine). But the food itself was great – fresh, rich in variety, savoury, light and everything in between. The menu at the pool/beach bar was also great, a bit pricey, but food & drinks were delicious. The hotel complex is built into a small hill, so you either have to walk up a few stairs tot he reception or take the golf cart-shuttle. Our room (6006) was close to all amenities, which was perfect. Everything including the restaurant, pool and beach area were close by. We enjoyed our complimentary room upgrade for our last night to a bigger room with an accompanying pool very much! In general the rooms were spacious, cosy and clean – nothing to complain! What we also loved about Domes Zeen was the way our daughter was made feel welcome. She had her own kids menu with a lot of different food options (the kids food always came first). The hotel has a lovely little playground that is open for everyone at the hotel and also a kids club, where you can book timeslots for children at the age of 4months to 3 years or 4 years and older. Our daughter didn’t go there, but having the option was great. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and it was everything we hoped for!

No doubt, this is a beautiful hotel. The design and landscaping are very well done. Our room was beautiful and had a large outdoor patio with a great view. We thought the location was perfect - a little private yet not too far from Chania (which was one of our favorite cities in Greece). As other reviews have mentioned - there were a lot of young kids - a lot! It kept us from hanging out near the pool/ facilities. For that reason alone, I wouldn’t stay there again but that’s no fault of the lovely hotel.

Domes Zeen Chania is as good as the photos look. The design including bungalow and pool area are comfortable and stylish. Breakfast is brilliant - with a great buffet range. But the real stars go to the staff. They are all superb - friendly and very helpful at all times. Zoe who checked me in was fabulous - putting me at ease, proactive on helping me book transport and a great sense of humour. She wasn’t corporate check in formality which I found refreshing! Also a big shout out to the woman who checked people in for dinner at the Beach House/Club (I didn’t get her name but she was there Tues 21 and Thurs 23). She went out of her way to make me as a solo traveller comfortable amongst mainly families at that particular time. Which I greatly appreciated. ||For Beach House/Club dinner (I didn’t try Gallina) remember that starter portions can be big and the food, while tasty doesn’t have the wow factor for the price. That said, it’s convenient and everyone makes you feel taken care of. I’d definitely come again. The Red Jane Bakery and old port /other restaurants are in walking distance (not on doorstep but very doable).||Thank you kind staff of Domes Zeen!

The hotel was amazing - beautiful and well appointed rooms, delicious food and excellent kids club. Located just by a beautiful beach and bay, it was a really easy and relaxed half-term holiday. There was no hassle organising anything (kids club/ food reservations) and the staff really went out of their way to ensure we were happy. We had some problems with our flights and the reception team and management went out of their way to help us, which was so appreciated. ||My children have a few allergies inc gluten. The head of hospitality and catering gave us his personal WhatsApp, to assist us during our stay in terms of dining - altering many dishes to expand our options. It just removed the anxiety of eating as we felt fully confident it was taken care of. ||The kids club is excellently run - the children really enjoyed it and they came out beaming with their arms full of crafts. Afterwards the kids would all jump in the pool with the friends they made from the club. The kids evening movie nights were a great idea so we could enjoy a couples supper too. ||Thank you!

We stayed here as part of a delta vacation. It was an incredible resort. ||The rooms were lovely. We had a private pool and lounge area. The room had a coffee maker and very nice bathroom. ||They have an outdoor fitness which was great to combat the amazing Greek food at the resort.||We had outstanding breakfasts at the resort which a huge and delicious assortment of foods and beverages.||The staff is incredibly nice and service oriented. We were a big group, larger than most families, and they were very accommodating.||Make reservations for dinner in advance. ||The pool is very nice.||They have 2 ocean access points with chairs and you can order great food from the hotel and drinks which they deliver to you. ||We checked out the newer beach access which had a chair surcharge. I preferred the other beach access. ||The staff work long hours and very hard . I was very impressed.

Can be treated as an all inclusive resort, the hotel is one of the high end ones on Crete. Breakfast is buffet style with various options that should fulfill your appetite and if you eat breakfast a little later can serve as brunch. Location is 20 minutes away from Chania old port if you walk via the beach pathway. To get to your hotel, it may be easier to call for a golfcart service to drive you to your room as the hotel covers a large area. Free gym, and they offer various activities at a charge. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Cleanliness I would say it is Crete clean. There was some dirt or dust marks on our bed sheet and had to get it changed on arrival. Hair can be found on the bottom of the mattress as well. Pillows you get 4 - 5 options, but I still found all of them uncomfortable to my liking as it was too soft or too hard and does not support your neck.

Domes Zeen Chania belongs to the renowned Luxury Collection, a name that naturally raises expectations. While the property has undeniable charm and potential, the overall experience only partially meets the high standards typically associated with the brand.||The setting is truly stunning — a lush, tropical oasis unlike anything else in the Chania area. At times, I found myself strolling the grounds simply to admire the incredible greenery and thoughtfully landscaped details.|The resort was originally built for Casa Cook, a chain known for its adult-only concept, and one can still sense that romantic, boutique spirit in the design. It’s a pity that Domes Zeen has embraced a family-friendly approach instead, as the serene atmosphere would lend itself far better to a tranquil couples’ retreat.||My room was spotless, beautifully designed, and impressively maintained thanks to excellent housekeeping. However, noise was a constant issue. Sounds from the pathways, nearby guests, and even conversations through the bathroom walls or from the room above were clearly audible, which diminished the sense of privacy and relaxation expected in a property of this level.||Breakfast was another disappointment. The main buffet felt chaotic, overcrowded, and more like a canteen than a luxury resort experience. On several occasions, plates or food items ran out, requiring a wait. Fortunately, the staff kindly offered the option to have breakfast at the à la carte restaurant, which completely changed the tone of the mornings — calm, refined, and genuinely enjoyable.||The pool area suffered from the same lack of serenity. With many young children around, the atmosphere was loud and far from relaxing; AirPods were essential to block out the constant noise. Towels were sometimes unavailable, and guests were expected to collect them themselves, as well as water — a level of service not in line with luxury standards.||The beach area also felt insufficient for the resort’s capacity. During my three-day stay, all sunbeds were occupied each day, leaving little space to unwind. Extending the area or creating additional seating integrated into the lush landscaping could significantly improve this. At times, used towels, cups, and plates were left unattended until evening, which further detracted from the otherwise beautiful surroundings.||It’s genuinely disappointing to write these criticisms because Domes Zeen has immense potential. The natural beauty, design, and setting are extraordinary, but with a few adjustments in service and management, the experience could truly reach the flawless level worthy of The Luxury Collection name
