The Best Affordable Hotels in Europe, According to Travel Experts

"The mountain landscape around the small town of Corte is a paradise for hikers. Luckily, it’s also home to a family-run hotel that’s perfect for recovering after a long trek. Dominique Colonna is shrouded in pine and birch trees and sits on the banks of the Restonica River — in the summer, nothing feels better than a dip in its cool waters. For sustenance, the hotel offers some of the best provisions in town: local cheeses with house-made fig jam; fresh-squeezed lemonade; and plenty of organic olive oil from the property’s own grove. Doubles from $214." - Travel + Leisure Editors

The best mountain hotel we have ever stayed at!||This hotel is a real gem, only mistake we made was not staying longer!||Rooms are really nice, we stayed here twice, first time in Alba suite, really nice and spacious with a lovely private terrace ( no view but very private and beautiful with an old olive tree), second time in room 229, beautiful view of the river and a lovely bathtub:)||The hotel is in the Restonica Valley making it the perfect spot for an active vacation, hiking in the mornings and relaxing by the river and pool in the late afternoon. |The hotel has an astonishing breakfast buffet, the best I have had. Our family has different allergies but they catered to all our needs and everything was well labeled, so very easy to choose from the buffet. ||They serve a delicious lunch until 17.30. Dinner you have to go elsewhere, good restaurant next door and only 20 minutes walk from center of Haute Ville, where there is a lovely square with restaurants and cafes. ||Spa is out of this world! Had the best massage in a beautiful setting next to the river. ||We rarely go anywhere twice, but we are considering going back here next year for another week of pure relaxation and hiking.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The hotel is super stylish and immaculately clean and the setting is stunning. Right on the river in the beautiful Restonica valley - you feel cocooned in nature while being spoilt by the fabulous staff. We stayed for three nights as part of our honeymoon in Corsica. We splashed out on the Alba suite which was an amazing room with a private terrace where we sat stargazing each night because the skies were so clear and dark. Soaking in the river, wandering around Corte, eating dinner at the wonderful Auberge restaurant next door. Just perfect.

The hotel is great. The rooms are modern and a good size. We overlooked the river with a small balcony which was very peaceful and relaxing., away from the breakfast area and the parking. The grounds and pool area are well kept and peaceful with just the sound of the river. The breakfast is good. Service at the hotel was generally warm and efficient. The only slight complaint is that on leaving the staff front desk team did not ask to help with our 2 big suitcases.

I had a beautiful stay here. Yes the prices are high even in side season and the Standard room is not very large, but for me as a solo traveller it was absolutely fine. Everything in the Hotel breathes quality: the comfortable bed and pillows, the bathroom and amenities as well as the Outdoor furniture and even the pool shades. But the absolute Highlight was the breakfast (27,50 Euro) with such a good variety from sweet to salty (eg different quiches every morning or the granola buffet), great coffee and a super good aligned service team. Coming to the location it could not be better. The hotel melts with the beautiful restonica valley and the river. Its a small complex but it feels almost like a (little) resort. Originally I was only looking for a nice hiking base, but Dominique Colonna was so much more. If I come back to Corsica I definately stay here again.

A truly magical place, perfect setting, immaculate decor, not the usual traditional French Corsican style but a hotel that wins the prize for architecture, design and service. |We came for three nights, not knowing that we were checking out on the very last day before it closed for the season. The staff are friendly and courteous. Thank you to the Priscilla and the team at reception and breakfast. The recommendations for dinner in Corte were just perfect. And I really enjoyed our stay everyone in the town was lovely and so friendly. |We hired the electric mountain bikes for the day and rode up the valley Restonica to see where the bridge was washed away almost a year ago. Grest scenery and very few cars as it was the very end of the season. The hotel organised this for us seamlessly with just a days notice and the bikes were ready for us first thing the next day. The location is perfect as it is just at the entrance to the valley. And also good for hiking. |If you love the great outdoors, peace and quiet and appreciate staying somewhere that would feature in Architectural digest and also loves kids this is it. It’s a gem.

If I could, I would give this six stars! This beautiful, luxurious hotel is a short way out of Corte. It has ample parking and the staff go out of their way to be welcoming. It feels very private. Our room had a small balcony overlooking the small gorge and stream that flowed by. The room was spotless and very quiet and comfortable. It was a short walk into town. The grounds are beautiful and the trees are colorfully lit up at night. There is a small bar that is well stocked. The whole experience made us feel pampered and comfortable. I highly recommend this special property!

We had a wonderful stay in this hotel. The setting is stunning, it feels like you are right in the middle of nature. The sound of the river is soothing (it had rained the day before we stayed in Oct so the river was full of life). Everything is clean, to a high standard, and the reception staff and owner are very welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to come back.
